So, I got the EIII video game for the X-Box this morning and was quite surprised to see that there's alot of actual Movie footage in the game. Pretty much before and after every level there's actual movie footage, and cutscenes to move the game along.

I have to say that Greivous looks pretty badass in motion and that his voice sounds alot better than in that clip from the official site. Also the game is pretty badass itself, the combo system is pretty good and the saber battles are nice. The versus mode will be pretty cool once I unlock some more characters (the only ones readily available are Anakin and Obi-Wan, and I've unlocked Dooku by beating him in the story mode).

I'm prolbably gonna get bashed for posting this, because people here tend to take it especially hard when anyone says something even remotely bad about Star Wars.... but I don't really care what you peopl think of me, so:

Battle of Coruscant
The space battle stuff looks amazing despite my concerns previously. I thought the starfighters sounded really whine-y in this scene… R2’s whistle/beep is straight from the OT… actually, most of his noises seem to be reused ones from the OT or something… R2’s jump outta the starfighter really annoys me… it is just so unrealistic and… just stupid.

Grievous
His voice still concerns me, but I think I can live with it. But the Neimoidian’s voice is just plain retarded! I mean, WTF?!?

Elevator
CG R2 looks terrible and it’s so obvious where he’s CG… and what is he doing with his arm all the time?

Dooku
Dooku’s jump is really stupid and unnecessary. It looks sooo fake and CG-ish… and I think it’s completely out of character for him.

Same Fate
Ian is great! Hayden, as in the previous clip, isn’t the best...

Invisible Hand
I love the sea skirmish feel of this scene. The Neimoidain’s voice is sooo stupid it’s annoying! CG R2...

Ray Shields
This is a nice scene… funny. R2 looks pretty good here…

Meh… seen it… an ok scene… it just looks…. Weird. Maybe its just me…

Grievous’s Escape
CG is aiight. I don’t like Greivous when he goes into his escape pod… his movements on “time to abandon ship” remind me of Sebulba’s… a sort of cheeky, up-to-no-good movement. I don’t like it.

Goodbye Old Friend
Good scene. I don’t understand why Obi Wan calls Anakin an “old friend”… I mean, they’ve just been together for, what 15 year and just been through the wars… you’d think they’d be closer than just “old friends”. That Hyperspace ring looks friggin stupid! I like the TIE fighter kinda sound on the starfighter…

Bold Move
Boga looks pretty good. I love Obi Wan’s “Hello there”

Chasing Grievous
Pretty damn good!

Mace vs. Palpatine
I didn’t like Hayden in this scene… or Sam for that matter. But I think that can be put down to seeing it out of context. I hate how Mace lifts his saber above his head ala Dooku in AOTC… it’s so stupid… you just wouldn’t do that.

I just wanna make it clear that despite everything bad I've just mentioned there is still a lot of goood stuff there... and I'm almost certain I will immensely enjoy this film.

Good review. Although I agree and disagree with some of your points, I appreciate your opinion and your full review.

A lot of the dialogue in those clips looks to be pre ADR. Plus the sound is pretty fucked up. The Nemoidian does sound retarded, but the separatist threat is a phantom menace, designed to create a war which would destroy the Jedi. Sidious used them because they were gullible easily twisted retards, as opposed to intelligent independent minded thinkers. So one retarded Nemoidian doesn't bother me as they are all cowardly fuck ups anyhow.

Oh and keep in mind how heavily edited and out of context these scenes are. The short clip of Yoda, Mace and Obi on the gunship as scene in the Trivial Pursuit clips came across much better when i saw another 15 secs of the same scene. Let's not get hung up on things until we've seen the movie the way it's director meant as opposed to some guy cutting shit for a videogame with music from the previous films.

Absolutely. I think that's why the captain doesn't have the proper accent. Also notice that when you hear GG say "crush them!" in the XBOX footage, the video doesn't match the same moment when he says "crush them!" in the "Unite" TV ad.

Also, a few comments that were in the original thread:
1) I love the coughing of Grevious. While most posts about this thought it was weird, I thought it was a great tie-in to the clone wars and what Mace Windu does to Grevious before he escapes with Palps.
2) Mace seems Wooden: I think this may seem this way because it is out of context with what has occurred just before. You can definately tell that Mace is winded from the fight that has just taken place. It will probably come accross better when we see the whole fight.
3) Speed of R2-D2: I know some have said he seems too fast. Well, how many times have we actually seen R2 on a very large flat surface? I can see how he could pick up speed rolling forward on a flat surface. Hard to do in a small ship or on a planet with hilly grassy terain. (Speaking of which, if you haven't watched the blooper real on Ep I, there is a scene where the bosses are being met on the grassy hill and R2 falls over).
4) Hayden's acting - He definately is not as Whiny as he was in EpII, but I guess we will have to see how it all transpires on the big screen. It is possible some shots were shot just for the video game, but we will find out when we see the movie.

I made it with the old DivX Fast Motion codec and Lame mp3's audio codec. Very strange that you can't play it.

Maybe you need to install the old DivX alpha codec.

For those who are getting confused, this is the old 344MB ROTS mpeg that had all the movies/cutscenes from the XBox version of ROTS, edited so there was no ingame footage or menus and then compressed neatly into a DivX avi.

Codecs are DivX Fastmotion for Video and Lame MP3 for audio.

The comp I'm on for the near and distant future is so whack that I can barely play audio...I still can't quite understand what Greivous sounds like. But he sure looks cool as hell so far

I really want to see the farewell scene btwn Obi and Anakin. My biggest worry about the whole film was their relationship. They need to be mad tight, so that the fall actually means something. For this reason I almost read the screenplay, but ultimately decided to hold back.

It has all of the movie footage in the cut scenes.

Some of the cutscenes have game footage in them. At least one of them is made entirely of ingame footage. So, it is an edit of "all" the cutscenes, removing anything that wasn't direct footage of the movie.
