It's been an interesting ride to say the least. More drama than a soap opera.

I really won't miss much. Things I will miss, I miss laready. Chyren, it was always a great pleasure watching him chew up nubs. LMM, I know you're here under another name, but you're art and banners are by far the coolest out there. No questions. DP, you can't say enough about what he's done for the spoiler comm. His high res Eppy II stuff was the fodder for a lot of discussion and drooling. Great job and big thanks to all of the insiders, too many to list, but thank you for a memerable time.

What a ride! When I first got wind of the SEs being released ( I think it started with a picture of Han and Jabba in Entertainment Weekly) in late '96, I wondered if there was an online source for Star Wars information. I happened upon a site called "Red 5" at the time. That site was very informative for its time and lead me to discover AICN and the Texas A&M site.

By 1998, the Episode I spoilers had gone into full swing and the A&M site had morphed into TFN. It was at this point that I discovered that message boards were the key to finding the latest tidbits so I became the biggest whore of a lurker ever! I remember posts by "MTFBWYA" on the TFN boards. Whoever that guy was, he brought the goods in the months leading up to TPM. The Virtual Edition site, Jedinet, and PrequelWatch were all good sources of info at the time, also (although I remember that PrequelWatch site being a little too anal about spoilers).

The ride up to Episode II was just as fun. Posts by SI, Scruffy Lookin and that other chick (her name escapes me) from TFN really kept my interest piqued. I remember the storyboard leak and sites like Aldera.net spreading (mis)information. I frequented E-X alot during this time, also.

The Episode III spoiler game really involves only one site - MF.com. Here is where the best and most acurate info came out with the least amount of BS. Spoileriffic's pictures and reports were great as well as what Ternian has been doing.

The last 9 years have been an amazing time to be a SW fan. From the SEs all the way up to ROTS, it has been a lot of fun to watch all of this comedy, drama, and action play out (and I am not talking about the films). I would really like to thank all of the above sites and personalities. You have made this adventure fun and exciting. Most of all, thanks to GL for creating this universe that we all worship.

In May, I will be watching the last Star Wars film, having been able to catch them all in the theater (although I was only 1 month old for ANH). I hope I will be able to find an outlet for my spoiler and Star Wars desires in the future...

Screw all of YOU! If you didnt leak spoilers someone else would. All of your contributions are minor at best!

THANKS TO GEORGE LUCAS, AND GEORGE LUCAS ALONE!

To hell with everyone else, because quite frankly, if it wasn't for GL you would all actually have a life!

I got sent back to :gb2tfn:

I know I'm not a big poster and lurk around alot on these boards, but I'd still like to show my gratitude to all of those people that have listed that gave to all of our lazy asses all of the spoilers, scans, and downloads that they did. Thanks for putting all of your time and effort into making the Star Wars online community as great as it has become. :jammin:

MF.com was actually the first messageboard I had ever joined, and I was surprised at the no-nonsense manner with which it was conducted, but I've grown to greatly appreciate the attitude and viewpoints that everyone takes on topics on this board and I'd hate to see everyone crawl back into the woodwork after Episode III is out.

Long live MF.com. :chewbacca:

I started with AOTC, did my version of the scriptment and have vanished into lurkerdom...

I loved the discussions, particiularly with Chyren, SI, PD, Scruffy_looken, and Hoedaack.

More than anything, I'm going to miss the humor that only us geeks get and enjoy.

My wife never understood why you'd want to know what happens in a movie before you see it. The only way I could describe it is that everytime you read a spoiler it's like seeing the movie for the first time...you get excited time and time again. I'll miss that too.

It was odd going through this and knowing it would end and knowing there would NEVER be anything like it again.

Cheers all. I'm going to miss it. :heavymetal:

I’m a first time poster here, cause i'm on the road alot playing in a metal band. Been reading daily since the start of mf.com and have been reading all you guys/girls since the old original tfn boards (used to post under "jedijeff" or jay or something). But just wanted to drop in for this to say thanks to all of the above. My best memories of the prequels times are here reading all of you guys/girls posts, spoilers and rants while on the road. My band thought I was nuts on new years eve cause when we got to the club I ran in straight to the comp the club had hooked up just to read about the ending that was getting posted that night. Sorry to waste anyone’s time or space on this.

Thanks to all, especially mf.com for being the "metal up the a**" star wars site on the net, by getting us fans the info/spoilers and enjoyment...................

I am not going to write a book here, so I'll keep this simple.

Massive thanks to:

Darth Psychotic for being the most trustworthy and helpful eperson I've ever met, and for giving me a new home.

Ternian for massive spoilers and for trusting me.

Spoilerific for the great pics.

Duke for the goods.

Ewok Pudu for all the emotional support and kick ass Socal SW love ;)

SI for having me initially banned from TFN because I called him a fucking poser ;)

LMM for being always the cool mofo wherever we were.

And to everyone else: Thanks for spoiling, spying, and fighting, and just making this place the most kick ass site on the web.

Special thanks to nub fuck ups and TFN rejects who make me laugh constantly.

Ayatollah: Weird. I had the same experience a couple of days ago.

Anyways, in 1983 I managed to get my little 8-year soul into the cinema to watch Return of the Jedi. From that moment on and up until the age of 13 to 15 life was extraordinary. Star Wars was a grand player in that sweeping epic childhood of dreams and glittering fantasies.

Then, life knocked on my shoulder and the particular magic of small childrens imagination faded away.

But the prequels changed that. Since 1994 I've been a member of the Post-Wars decade. From the first glimmer of hope in the premiere '94-issue of Sci-Fi Universe and the ´96 Special Edition Star Wars website, to the emergence of the prequel spoilers in '97 all the way to the premieres, my childhood synapses are from now on hardwired to the neo cortex.

I owe George my gratitude and deep appreciation for bringing unbelievable fucking glimmering happines to my life for the last 11 years, just when I thought those feelings of relentless childness was unatainable.

This is the story of Lucas. A stubborn nerd with a flair for adventure, not just inside the pictures but in a life journey spanning three decades of scratching down parallell metaphors of our society into a memorandum.

He should never be underestimated. He's so fucking cool.

Well, this has been a strange journey for me.

The road of geeky excess that will eventually lead to the cinematic palace of wisdom known as "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" was my first (and last) trip down spoiler lane. I've encountered a lot of interesting people, got into (and started) a lot of thought provoking dialogues (read: internet bitch fests) and, perhaps most importantly, I wasted a lot of time. Thanks for the memories, and here's to waiting in line to see a film in which every single detail has been divulged and discussed ad nauseam weeks beforehand.

i don't know any of you; have been a lurker for a very long time and stumbled my way here via (and props to): AICN, chud, episodex, aldera, tbone, and many more that I've missed. The thing is - mf and your opinions, rants, and thought have become such an integral part of my day and my life that I am really sad to see it all come to an end. I have some magazines from back in 1994 - 1995: the Entertainment Weekly cover with the cast on it in black and white, the time mag cover touting the return of star wars, and now knowing how it all ends makes me even more conscious of how wonderful it felt knowing that there would be more of the galaxy i loved back while I was still in college. I wish I could have contributed more to the site but thank you all for what you brought to it. Hope the tv show is good; best to all of you that run the site. Wish I knew more of the history of some of you bigtymers here - someone further back in this thread mentioned that it'd make a good book and I agree.

Never was much if a poster on any Star Wars forum, but I have always been a massive "lurker" following spoilers steadily throughout the Episode III period. It's been an eventful three years, both in my life in general and with regards to Star Wars. Star Wars isn't anywhere close to being my primary "geek hobby", but it's always occupied a sentimental spot in my heart, and still does even after (and despite) all the bullshite I've seen slung around various boards.

Anywho, I'd like to send my humble thanks to all the "insiders" who've been steadily supplying myself and every other hungry SW fan with new info. I don't even wanna know how you guys got your info (I'm almost afraid to ask) but either way thanks for being cool enough to share.

I'd also like to send props to all the exceptionally cool people (all three of you ;) ) that posted some insightful, intelligent, and most of all entertaining ideas and theories regarding the inner workings of this long running saga.

And of course MF.com which I wound up registering for very late in the game regretfully. MF, I hardly knew ye...

That all said the things I am very much happy to say goodbye to are:

Idiotic "board terminology" such as "basher" gusher" "flame" "troll" "ban" etc.

The "PT vs. OT" and "SW vs. LOTR" bickering. Utterly childish and stupid.

And above ALL else, a heartfelt "fuck you" to all the old hens that frequent the ultimate sewing circle of misery known as TFN's "Basher Sanctuary" (two or three in particular but I won't name names). Those sad individuals are the kinds of bitter, cynical, joyless, battle axes that seem to thrive on bleeding the innocence, heart, and fun out of ANYTHING (and this extends far beyond just SW also). I'm absolutely dumbfounded that any of them at one time had enough of a pulse to enjoy something as childishly playful as SW. Artistic criticism of any kind (especially for something as harmless as a damn space fantasy flick) should be fair, unbiased, and above all constructive, NOT the kind of kangaroo court, witch hunt bullshit propaganda that they peddle like crack lords.

I hope some of them read this, because I can say this here and not on TFN: get help. Star Wars is a fucking movie. And aimed primarily at children, but it can be for ALL ages. But the prime audience is kids, and no child gives two shits about all the meaningless details that you people nitpick like its some kind of Holy Scripture. None of you psychos knows George Lucas personally, so he doesn't "owe" you jack. That also means that none of you have the right to make this childish shit personal by calling him schoolyard names. It's called common respect. Look it up. I'm neither a "basher" a "gusher", nor a "Lucas apologist". I don't want to kill the man nor perform sexual favors on him. My feelings for the guy are pretty much nil, aside from the fact that I dig his movies, because he's a total stranger to me AND you, and I don't have an unhealthy stalker fixation on him like you guys. I hope to God none of you have kids of your own, because if you do my prayers are with them.

My apologies to everyone else about the rant above, but I've wanted to say that for the last three years and never had the opportunity to anywhere else. But forgetting all the negative aspects of this, it has been a fun ride. I am actually gonna miss the Christmas-ish feeling that came with finding new little scraps of clues and spoilers and the mutual excitement that came with (most) everyone else.

I also miss checking out all the "speculative fan art" on what the "new droid General" was gonna look like. Fun stuff!

In anycase, sayonara Episode III spoilers. It was fun while it lasted.

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who has contributed to this site and has made the experience of the last Star Wars Movie EVER that much better. I wish I had some spoilers to include but alas I'm just a simple man trying to make his way in the galaxy.

Of course I wasn't born in 1977. I was born 3 months before EMPIRE came out, but I did see ROTJ in theaters. Being the first movie I saw in theaters, it was my favorite for years (ESB has since taken over this position, hopefully ROTS will take that place). I remember when I first heard about the Special Editions being released in theaters. Finally I was going to see A New Hope and Empire in theaters the way it was meant to be seen (it would have been nice to see the original cut in theaters, but I'll take what I can get). It was almost like seeing it for the first time for me, and for that I am most thankful. And then hearing about the Prequel Trilogy and realizing that we would see the fall of Anakin Skywalker was just overwhelming. The release of the teaser poster (with little Anakin's shadow showing what we all knew we were in for) and the release of the film name just made the wait that much more excruciating. And then the teaser trailer. Hearing John Williams score kick in after the Lucasfilm logo, and the first footage of an all new Star Wars film for the first time in 16 years was just awe-inspiring. I don't care what anyone says, I like Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones warts and all. Yes, some of it isn't up to standard compared to the Original Trilogy. But there was no way it ever could be. If I had to choose between having these movies or not having a PT at all, I'd take these in a heartbeat.

After ROTS is over, all I have to look forward to (besides the TV show) is showing these movies to my children. I hope they love them as much as I do. I'm sure they will. If I can get my wife excited about them, then getting my children to like them should be a piece of cake.

Anyway, thanks again to everyone who has made this that much more memorable for me. Coming to MF.com everyday might have even made my excitement that much more unbearable than it was around April 1999 waiting for TPM. Thanks for the ride everyone. May the force be with you, always.

It's been fun to try and remember some of the bullshit that has poured out as "Official" on sites like :gb2tfn: over the last few years. I vividly recall a posting from about a year before TPM hit that Leanne Rimes was going to be singing a song and performing a musical number in a scene from Phantom Menace.

Anyway, it just goes to show that virtually anything, no matter how bogus, could pass for spoiler material back in the early days...

We've come a long way!

Yeah, "douchebag bandwidth leeches appreciation station" maybe more appropriate. ;)

Registering just to post that you kept your head down and had mad fun getting shit for free without helping anyone else kind of defeats the purpose.

"There's a hell of a lot of non-regular posters in this thread."

"Registering just to post that you kept your head down and had mad fun getting shit for free without helping anyone else kind of defeats the purpose."

Yeah, yeah. I've lurked here since the beginning. Well, close to it.

Been a fan since about the age of 8. I know I knew things about the storyline of SW before then, but I'm not sure if I had seen it the whole way through - my info probably came from watching Muppet Babies. My best friend at the time got me a subscription to the Insider for my birthday just before the whole SOTE thing came out and I got really into it.

Like probably most everyone else, I started my internet Star Wars life out at TFN, way back in the winter of 98. I got the link from a Wizard magazine with an article about TROOPS - the page was still in its infancy with the scroll bars all over it. I still remember reading a spoiler about the droids fighting underwater and their faces looking like white Predator masks, something about midichlorians, and a blurry pic from the desert accompanied by some speculations about a red-faced Sith Lord.

Wow, it's really been that long.

So anyway, I eventually registered at TFN, posted and still post there occasionally - it seems like the sense of community has been overrun by mindless posts and too many people. I remember the "glory days" of the community there, and how it began to break down with people leaving around the time of Episode 2... then I found DP's hacked pages. I was a sucker for internet forum drama. Before that, since I didn't really talk to anyone from the forum and mostly stayed out of the Community I hadn't noticed the encroaching shittiness from nubs, stupid mods, etc.

I got kind of disinterested in Star Wars.

I lurked TFN and E-X, and some other sites for awhile... until eventually MF got started. I think it was either the "Back in Black" vid or the pics from the CT DVDs that led me here - In any case, visiting this site frequently got me back into the groove of anticipation. It's definately a plus that there aren't as many "OMG PLAPATIME ISNT SIDDEIS" asses here. It's difficult to describe, but the vibe here is very enjoyable. Also... the profound lack of drama (compared to other sites) here (I mostly read the E3 forum) is excellent. MF finally brought us back to the reason we're all on here... Star Wars. No bullshit allowed. Because of this, the buildup to ROTS (it still feels weird that we know anything at all about the mysterious "episode 3") has been awesome - probably even better than the one for TPM. That's saying something.

So, thanks to DP and basically everyone here, the spies, the guys from the glory days of TFN, and everyone involved in the making of the films that brought us all here - especially, of course, George Lucas. Sounds kind of sappy, yeah, but it is a "circlejerk appreciation station."

It feels sad to think that all this history, even if it is internet forum drama, is almost over. We'll still have the TV show, the EU, etc... but I've never seen anything that resembles the community that has existed over all the SW sites these last seven years (seven YEARS?!). The Star Wars spoiler game has definately been an amazing one to play/watch.

May the Force be with you.

First off, this is definately a rant, definately not for all. Second, this is NOT an "Old School is better" rant. I love it all. Every minute.

Yeah, I'm yet another long time lurker, first time poster.

So what? Was I supposed to chime in with shit like "OMG" and "YOU RAWK!!" and put a fucking dancing wookiee on the screen everytime someone posted something cool?

Cause I missed THAT post.

I am a non regular poster...I registered just to say I kept my head down and had mad fun getting shit for free...(WTF does that mean anyway? Was I supposed to leave a dollar somewhere?)

Does that disinclude me (or anyone else?) from loving this thing? This wonderful journey that I for one have been on since 3 DAYS after Ep. 4 came out? Bullshit! Back off and show a LITTLE respect for those of us who blazed this trail through the wilderness. I will remind you that when this all started we had to wait more than half a year to get our toys, (not the month BEFORE) and a computer cost more than a freaking HOUSE! We had to actually WAIT for the movie to come out before we knew what the hell happened in it! Can you imagine THAT shit?!?!? What a bunch of MARKS! Check this out: When I went to see Empire (First day, BTW, only day of high school I ever cut) I didn't even know Vader was Luke's FATHER!!!! It was a different day. A different era. Read some of these posts again before you slag on people who are expressing sincere thanks to people that we recognize as "family" before you say another fucking word about who deserves to post what, when, and where.

What I am saying is just because this story is ending in 50-some days, in this generation, there are a hell of a lot more people involved, at a much deeper level than you think.

I have seen very cool stuff here. Read some hilarious stuff here. My contribution, and the contribution of the other lurkers, is to ENJOY what the spoilers like Spoileriffic, Tern and the rest leak. Not pissing on other people for just reading it and not making stupid "go back to TFN" comments.

But, that's what we do. We are always lurking. Watching you. Taking notes.

And the shit you do is MUCH worse than we.

I'm out like Luke and Leia.

After the trailer came out it hit me big time that this was the end of an era, so to speak. For the last 25 years, most of us anyway, have been looking foward to something on the big screen from Star Wars. We had a minor break in the eighties (I hated the eighties  ), but between the movies, the SE's, and the Prequels we've been pretty spoiled (pun!) as fans. I sat down and watched ROTJ the other day, and it was just so much more powerful knowing everything we know now. I can't wait to get the saga CDs.

One thing is for sure, though. I will miss the comraderie of us spoiled folk. You guys have always made me laugh. :heavymetal:

Well, if there's one constant in the universe, it's that wherever humans go, drama goes with them. I'm sure the drama will continue to unfold long after the curtain goes down on ROTS. That is, as long as there's sites like MF still around.

We'll all just have to remind ourselves not to turn into Trekkies. ;)

oh man and all this time I thought this was split thread...

Listening to the ROTS soundtrack and just thinking about the days pre and post TPM are REALLY making me feel nostalgic. One of my earliest memories at TFN was Chyren and his ability to frag with nubs with a single post. Quite entertaining.

The spoiler run into AOTC was great fun for obvious reasons and it's here where I came to meet some seriously cool internet people. I'll try to list them but pls forgive me if you should be on the list but I have failed to include you: ;) Tern, :monocle: ( <--- smiley just for you!), Silmarillion, BobtheGoon, Darth Attorney, Stinky, DarthDagsy, Perfect Dark, Hoedaack, Jedi Chikara, Guanolad, Dehrian, the enigmatic DarthPsychotic, and my good mate Scruffy_Looken.

Internet sites were more prolific back then with everyone trying to get their share of spoilers and the backroom politics and back stabbing came to the fore and a new term was immortalised: internet drama.

With all that sorted out the run into ROTS has been a lot smoother with only really a couple of sites still in the game - none better than MF! You can't go past this place for consistently spilling the goods time and time again. Kudos again to Ewok_Pudu, Spoileriffic, Motee, Hard Copy, Darth First, ArtMaul (did I really have your ass banned?), The Dude, and the hard-core members who really contribute to the site, Duke, Benovite, CoGro, Tony Montana, Mcdermd, and many more I've obviously forgotten.

It's definitely been a fun ride and one I look back on fondly.
:)
cheers,
SI

First of all, I'd like to thank the people who have made MF what it is. I don't know all of you, but you know who you are (DP, Tern, Riffic, etc.). I'd like to thank the Virtual Edition boards too, for some intellectual discussions there. I'd thank TFN but they've SO gone completely downhill. And although I consider Tbone to be a complete whiny-ass now, he WAS the very first Star Wars fansite I frequented on a daily basis, way back in the TPM days with his prequel poop so I gotta thank him :) Besides, I confronted him a while back about the whole Tarkin leaked pics thing, about the makeup tests and such. He tore me a new one and I've already eaten my share of crow thankyaverymuch!

About the requesters, for a moment. I've lurked here for a freakin long time. After a few attempts at joining MF during the whole leaked trailer hub-bub, I gave it a go and here I am now. Not once did I request anything. MF isn't like the other sites. It was said it well in the ROTS soundtrack thread: stuff goes up as soon as someone gets it. And there's always a mirror or new ysi link from time to time. TFNers aren't used to a real community, where we scratch each others' backs and don't ban someone cause he has posted something exclusive. What I like about MF is, those people who thump their chests or go on a request spree, without contributing in some way (whether it be re-hosting something or just engaging in debate) either start contributing or "fade out", so to speak. That in itself weeds out a lot of the "chaff".

A lot of us sheep were never good at being in social settings, and I include myself in that category. Forums like this one helped me learn without going too far out of my comfort zone. MF may seem harsh at first, but thats only because the people here ARE trying to protect the community. It only comes across as bullying. Thats why someone should lurk for a while, to get a feel of just what he/she is gonna get him/herself into. I've seen a lot of forums with little cliques in them, I don't really see any here.

Personally, I've been literally waiting for ROTS since Obi-Wan mentioned the Clone Wars and Luke's dad during ANH while sitting on the bumper of my parents' Buick station wagon on a warm summer night at the local DRIVE-IN back in '77. Hard to believe I was only 5! I remember seeing ESB on opening day, at a cinema in Boston, with the fucking line going all the way around the building, and vendors walking up and down the line selling the official movie magazine. Matching the photos up with what was onscreen.

Getting to the BIG part, where Vader says "No, I am your father!" and screaming just like Luke did! Summer of '83, Leia in a bikini! I wish I still had that ROTJ Gammorean Guard t-shirt (only fucking style that was still in the store when I got it)! I still have over 10,000 SWCCG cards! I can go on and on. Words can't completely describe just how big of a motherfucking ride it has been for me. Mother Of All Rides may come close. Revenge Of The Sith is looking like everything I have ever wanted for 28 years! GL of course gets the biggest thanks of them all. There are so many others I'd like to thank but names escape me. Rock On :heavymetal:

Its thanks to bastards like you guys that I've moved from being a normal "I just really like the star wars movies" to being dangerously close to becoming a sheep.

Put simply, the people who contribute to this site rock. The memberships base rocks, and the site itself rocks. :heavymetal:

IMO Lucas owes alot to this site, I don't think any single site/entity has whipped up a frenzy over this film like MF has managed to do. Advertising companies charge massive amounts of cash to do what you guys have been able to achieve...

I've become addicted to this site over the past 6 months, and haven't posted due to my lack of understanding of the Star Wars universe, however, this site's ability to keep on going and posting new and amazing information has been phenominal.

Well done guys..

Okay, so I'm another luker coming out of hiding.

I feel bad for not having anything of value to contribute since I joined the boards during the OT DVD spoilers last summer. However, MF became a place that I checked daily starting at the onslaught of Revenge of the Sith spoilers. While everyone's in a nostalgic mood, I just thought I might share what I remember about the pre-prequel days.

What originally sucked me in to Star Wars, as I'm sure with many other people around the same age as I am, was the kick off of the 1995 Kenner Star Wars "Power of the Force" line. Yeah, I still have Monkey Face Leia.

Anyone remember the custom figures for Episode 1 that won some kind of prize back in 1998? He used the Lost in Space Will figure to make Anakin, and it was still unclear on what exactly Darth Maul looked like.

I sent my Hasbro proof of purchases in for a sneak peak Mace Windu action figure, which naturally had a blue lightsaber. I didn't even know if the battle droid that came with the sneak preview STAP was a good guy or bad guy, or what.

And while I wasn't that up to speed on spoilers at the time, I still loved looking at the Virtual Edition for a hint at what we might see on screen.

I remember reading TFN wondering what a pod racer is, and who this "street punk" Sebulba was. (I had images of a pink mohawk for some reason.) I printed out the teaser poster and put it on my wall, with some of my friends saying "That's Luke!"

Star Wars fan films were just starting to come into their own, being more popularized by "Troops." But, dual-bladed lightsabers and the "Every saga has a beginning. . ." teaser would soon take over everyone's imagination.

I guess I was more into the media hype and merchandise of The Phantom Menace than anything. There was some kind of TV special that aired almost every other day that month before May 19th, whether it was on E!, SciFi, MSNBC, or what have you.

"Millennium's End: The Fandom Menace," a fan made documentary, sums up the pre-Phantom Menace atmosphere perfectly. I wish I could find it online again, it used to be hosted at TFN, and I've lost the download of it I had.

Anyway, it's been a long way, especially for me, since The Phantom Menace burst through the gates. I was in 8th grade for Episode I, a junior in high school for Episode II, and now a sophomore film student in college for Episode III.

Damn, as someone else said, if it's this nostalgic before Revenge of the Sith has even ht theaters, it's going to be insane during the aftermath.

I don't know who to thank but whoever goes through the threads and trims all the bullshit deserves a medal.

I came here via finding out about this in the IMDB boards. Thank you thank you thank you thank you for being normal people. And by normal I mean not idiots.
This has truly been a pleasure, and a refuge for my sanity.

Wow I'm dissapointed I didn't see this earlier, but I can't say I have been looking for spoilers much lately. (I have to forget some :) )

I guess I started on TFN, in Nov 2001, just before the Teasers came out. Since then I have met so many people in my own area and online that I wouldn't have without Star Wars.

Darthy showed me MF, and I can't thank him enough. It has been an awesome ride and I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to making this place great be you insider, admin, or poster. (lurkers are assholes, you didn't add anything) I tried to contribute when I had something to, and I feel like most people did when they could.

Thanks to Darthy, Ternian, IU, SI for working hard to make MF what it is.
Thanks to riffic, hardcopy, ewokpudu, and any other insider I don't know about.
Thanks to the people that leaked visual dictionary scans, comic book scans, the soundtrack, the audio book, etc.

It's been fun and don't be a stranger.

See you around the playground dudes. :chewbacca:

I love Lucas, I love the Prequels. And before I get banned, I just want you to know... I truly... deeply... love MF.com.

this place has been a bastion for us lurkers. Us "leechers." Whatever.

The policy of only using offsite links, while a way to keep LFL Legal off MF's backs, has truly begun what I honestly hope will become a filesharing revolution, of sorts. But then again... who cares?

I grew up watching starwars. We all did. Anyone who doesn't give props is a hater. Anyone who says different, that would be a lie.

However, with the developments of today, and having read this thread right before the shit hit the proverbial fans, I have something I want to say. It doesn't NEED said... it's pretty dumb actually. But to tell you the truth, I don't think Lando's people ever DID fix the fucking hyperdrive motivator in this bucket of bolts, and that we're about to get a WHOLE LOT of imperial entanglements.

The reason for this is stupidly simple. It doesn't do to hate one's roots.

When TPM was out, the OS was the place to be. I was there, in the cantina, kickin it with DarkZero, laughin it up when Dark Moose owned some spammer. When AOTC came out, I would have been ALL OVER TFN, had I had my registration to the site accepted. As it was, it got lost in the mail. But damn! That site was jumping. Fan films, the character directory. Hell, even halfway through principle photography of Sith they carried the lion's share of quotes and news. But then came the dark times. Then came the HYPERSPACE WARS. Can't post this. Don't post that. New rules. Every day a new ammendment to the TOS's of sites all across the internet...

Some of the best sites were shut down. JediTempli.net was the latest, but, fuck, man, if you weren't there for those few days of idontfear.com, then you may as well have been on some small moon. But even earlier... it started even earlier. I stumbled ass backwards onto the Fall of the Republic script with a link to an already defunct site so long ago I don't even remember who's or where it was.

I'm ALL for the official fanclub, don't misread my intentions here. But I think it may have driven a rift between some of the groups of fans that otherwise... MIGHT... have come together. It made the idiots at MFN prejudiced against "05ers" and it made everyone here prejudiced against TFN. Now, I'm afraid, the backlash is going to begin. Only when it is too late do we understand. With fans pitted against other fans, any moment now someone, from somewhere, out of some uncharted quadrant of the galaxy, is going to sweep in and rule us all. Divide and conquer.

I think that's part of why I love ROTS so much. And YES, I AM spoiled. I have the script, I read it daily while listening to the soundtrack. I'm spoiled. I'm a spoiler myself. Not by trade though... just as a hobby. Shits and giggles... but I digress.

I love ROTS because it is Modern Mythology 101. If we don't pay closer fucking attention to what is going on in our own modern society, we may be doomed to make the same fictional mistakes our modern cinema shamans portray to us via movie magic upon the silver screen.

That's all, that's all I wanted to say. Ban me now if you must. But I will CONTINUE to lurk, and to leech, and to revolt in every little way I can against tyranny in ANY form.

I love you guys, but seriously, sometimes even the good times can end up breaking your heart.

-ben
