The subtitle font is a Godsend. It even slightly improved the Jabba scene in ANH for me.

Well the release is just a let down. I can't really say I'm 100% happy with the films. There are still boxes around ships and lightsabers and blah blah blah... What is annoying is that I don't want to have to buy these movies again. So I'm stuck with bizarre "fixes" and additions instead of a cleaned up image and special effects.

I had the hardest time sitting through Clones and Jedi. Clones looks awful and Jedi looks so lazy and cheap. Yet Sith looks incredible. The bonus content on the trilogies is truly exhaustive and informative - when you can find it - and i'm very pleased with most of what's included.

I guess these movies will forever be labeled with a COULD HAVE BEEN-type wishful thought.

I'm happy with this release, all the movie have never looked or sounded as good as the do here. The boxes are almost gone in the death star escape and in anh the light saber is not green. But they still could of fixed many things.

But I figured I may as well get this one just in case Lucas decides to tinker with later releases or add in some unnecessary deleted scenes. Speaking of which did anyone see the Shaak Ti deleted scene in the temple? If they left that in it would of been stupid. She is meditating and Anakin comes in and kills her and when he walks out all the clones are shooting and killing. Did she not hear that?

It's his loss. Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox already got the money.

So I wonder what changes will come totally out of left field in the next versions? Who honestly expected CGI on the Ewoks, Vader yelling "no" or Sebulba in Jabba's palace? These are so random and unnecessary, and I never expected them. It feels more and more like Lucas is just thinking up random shit as he reviews or thinks about the movies.

I am just relieved that Lucas left Jar Jar alone in TPM.

I NEEDED it to be the same Jar Jar I first saw as a 26 year old in the theater. The carefully nuanced performance he gave should not be messed with just to meet with a "director's vision" or some silly shit like that. Imagine how happy I was to see Jar Jar running around in the swamp, just like he did in 1999.

I was so fearful that Lucas would turn on his memory bank torture device and removed those cherished memories I have of Jar Jar from 1999 from my brain, and replace them with a 2011 version of the character. I mean, Lucas, the bastard he is, already turned that machine on me to steal my 1977, 1980 and 1983 memories, what would stop him from doing the same for my 1999 memories? He cost me 3 years of my life as it is.

We should all be thanking him, not criticizing him, for leaving our TPM Jar Jar memories intact.

I actually prefer the puppet Yoda from TPM. Is that wrong of me?

To me, the CGI version still looks like Yoda's baby son. They just didn't get his face right.

See, I had my Jar Jar memories surgically removed in 2000, so I'm all good if he replaced Jar Jar with something less annoying, like say...anything. Yeah, it's just fucking BEWILDERING what got attention this time. The absolute MOST "WTF?!" for me has to be R2s new tools in RotJ. Just. W. T. F. Who ever thought that R2 needed more tools? Whom did that ever bother?

The new hidey-rocks... okay, I guess you can make the argument that Ben should have seen him (although a bullshit change)..."nooo... NOOOOOOOOooooo!", okay maybe there's a reason in there which made sense to Lucas. But the tools... dear god THE TOOLS!

THAT got attention (and animation!) which fixing the now shitty, dull opening flyover in ANH didn't, which fixing the remaining lightsaber shots didn't, which putting Qui-Gon into RotS didn't (if you MUST make changes to the movies)...wouldn't it be facinating to find out what the hell determines priority at LFL?

Yes, it's wrong of you, but there are support groups for that kind of thing.

My issue isn't so much the mesh, which admittedly is better than the puppet, it's that the performance isn't as good as what Oz did in TPM. Yoda, despite looking like shit as a silicone puppet, performs and acts with more interesting body language than the CG replacement. If only they could have used Oz's performance as a low-tech mocap for the CG model, it would have made a nice addition.

Just watched ESB.

Sound and picture are absolutely gorgeous, with the exception of a few Lightsaber shots, where the cores aren't white. Vader's is still pink in a few shots and Luke's goes from looking amazing, to sub-par from shot to shot.

After all these years, I only now have seen the second Carbon Freeze Chamber. Top screen right, in the long shot when Han & Co are brought in by the Troopers.

I can't believe I only just noticed it. It's only on the screen for a few seconds, before it's obscured by a Stormtrooper.

Haven't posted here in a long, long, time.

Anyway, from reading all the in hand comments about the BD set here, it makes me wonder why any of you are complaining about problems these discs have, especially the alterations lucas has made. You knew exactly what you where getting going into the store to buy them, you accepted the price for them, bought them and took them home. Your never going to get a perfect release, EVER.

I'm glad I will never buy these pieces of shit.

How do you know it's a piece of shit if you haven't seen it? :shaman:

It's an awesome set. I don't like the artwork on the packaging, or the Spoofs part, but other than that it's awesome.

I have gotten through just about everything on the discs, and I'm pretty blown away by it all. Yeah, there are bits of the movies that need some more work, but nothing galaxy-shattering, imo. These movies have never looked or sounded better.

The special features need to be combined with the DVD disc 4 and the 2006 OUT discs for a more complete edition. Not to mention the prequel features and even the movie discs, since the Blu-ray versions are all different, right? Hell, you could sync up the ROTJ DVD's audio track with the Blu-ray to eliminate the Vader No's.

I've still got the DVD box set up alongside the Indiana Jones and E.T. boxes. For all its faults, the silver box was awesome. Like with this release, it was the movies, and arguably the best they've ever looked on home video. My only regret is that my Complete Saga is pinched on the sides of the box and even the book from the stupid Target Minority Report spyder thing that holds it hostage in the store.

I'm tempted to exhange it if it weren't for the fact that I'm looking into eliminating physical packaging in my limited collection. Plus I would feel like kind of a dork complaining about the spyder.

Hey fellas I am watching a downloaded rip of AOTC from the Blu-Ray set now. Towards the end when Dooku escapes it seems like they shuffled a few scenes around a bit. Is this actually with anyone else' set? Maybe who ever ripped this version didn't do a great job on it...

For AOTC they recut two scenes. One is in the Coruscant chase and the other is Dookus escape after the duel at the end.

Check this out: Its german but you get the idea.

ugh. that ending of AOTC is so awful.

the big dramatic PT equivalent of Han taken away in carbonite and Vader telling Luke he's his father is the shot of clone troopers and Dooku (tyrannus) and sidious meeting in a run down part of coruscant?

no "reshuffling" of boring shots could save it

Just finished watching mine today. I think the I-VI box is actually really nice with the full page prints.

Also, check out what I saved from the 'trash compactor' at work. ;)

Anyone know if there are .pdf's of these floating around anywhere? They were on the Blu-Ray display out on the floor.

Thanks for the confirmation.

God the cut is really fucking awful for the Blu-Ray when Dooku escapes. Why the hell did they change that when it didn't need to be changed?
