I am just relieved that Lucas left Jar Jar alone in TPM.
I NEEDED it to be the same Jar Jar I first saw as a 26 year old in the theater. The carefully nuanced performance he gave should not be messed with just to meet with a "director's vision" or some silly shit like that. Imagine how happy I was to see Jar Jar running around in the swamp, just like he did in 1999.
I was so fearful that Lucas would turn on his memory bank torture device and removed those cherished memories I have of Jar Jar from 1999 from my brain, and replace them with a 2011 version of the character. I mean, Lucas, the bastard he is, already turned that machine on me to steal my 1977, 1980 and 1983 memories, what would stop him from doing the same for my 1999 memories? He cost me 3 years of my life as it is.
We should all be thanking him, not criticizing him, for leaving our TPM Jar Jar memories intact.
See, I had my Jar Jar memories surgically removed in 2000, so I'm all good if he replaced Jar Jar with something less annoying, like say...anything. Yeah, it's just fucking BEWILDERING what got attention this time. The absolute MOST "WTF?!" for me has to be R2s new tools in RotJ. Just. W. T. F. Who ever thought that R2 needed more tools? Whom did that ever bother?
The new hidey-rocks... okay, I guess you can make the argument that Ben should have seen him (although a bullshit change)..."nooo... NOOOOOOOOooooo!", okay maybe there's a reason in there which made sense to Lucas. But the tools... dear god THE TOOLS!
THAT got attention (and animation!) which fixing the now shitty, dull opening flyover in ANH didn't, which fixing the remaining lightsaber shots didn't, which putting Qui-Gon into RotS didn't (if you MUST make changes to the movies)...wouldn't it be facinating to find out what the hell determines priority at LFL?

I actually prefer the puppet Yoda from TPM. Is that wrong of me?
To me, the CGI version still looks like Yoda's baby son. They just didn't get his face right.
Yes, it's wrong of you, but there are support groups for that kind of thing.
My issue isn't so much the mesh, which admittedly is better than the puppet, it's that the performance isn't as good as what Oz did in TPM. Yoda, despite looking like shit as a silicone puppet, performs and acts with more interesting body language than the CG replacement. If only they could have used Oz's performance as a low-tech mocap for the CG model, it would have made a nice addition.
