Given the nature of the series to chronologically jump around with different episodes, I figured I'd try and come up with some semblance of a time line. I've no idea how close to accurate this is -- all I had was my recollection of the episodes and a handful of references from the official episode guides. Any corrections, opinions, feedback, etc. would be cool. I know the more convoluted the chronology gets, the more I want some kind of time line to put everything in perspective.

If no on else cares, then just let the thread die.

There are some mistakes there. "ARC Troopers" is some time after Rookies, not right after, as said in the episode guide. And it's the first meeting of Grievous and Ventress face to face, not via hologram.

The Mandalore Arc has to be placed before "Lightsaber Lost", because Ahsoka already knows Jocasta Nu.

"Sphere of Influence" maybe needs to be placed after Bounty Hunters, because only Sugi and Embo are present on Jabba's Palace.

"Grievous Intrigue" and "The Deserter" happen before "ARC Troopers", because of Grievous droid that was destroyed.

More to come...

Thanks for the feedback. Alexrd, a few points:

The problem with "ARC Troopers" (as with so many episodes, really) is that we don't know precisely how long after "Rookies" it takes place. Without any explicit evidence, I chose to just tack it immediately on to the Domino Squad arc. Of course, as you point out, that doesn't preclude other episodes from happening in the interim. But it can't have been too long, though, considering "Rookies" tells us that Ventress is already in place on Kamino. I can't imagine her hanging around underwater for an extended period of time before the Kamino assault. Which "Grievous droid that was destroyed" are you referring to with respect to "Grievous Intrigue" and "The Deserter" and how are you using that info to place those episodes before "ARC Troopers"?

I'm not sure how Ahsoka's knowledge of Jocasta Nu relates to the Mandalore arc, though. I don't seem to remember Jocasta being present in any Mandalore episodes and Ahsoka meets Jocasts for the first time in "2.01 - Holocron Heist." On info what are you basing your statement about these?

As for "Sphere of Influence," the presence of Sugi and Embo doesn't necessarily correspond to putting that episode before "Bounty Hunters." It's entirely possible that they traveled to Coruscant after the events of "Bounty Hunters." Unless, obviously, there is something I've missed.

Grievous' Tactical Droid, TV-94, was destroyed in "Grievous Intrigue". However, he appears in "ARC Troopers" serving Grievous.

My mistake. I was thinking of "Assassin".

That's what I said. After "Bounty Hunters".

Oh, and maybe "Grievous Intrigue" is placed right after "Lightsaber Lost", since Ahsoka is seen with both Sinube and the younglings.

A quick check of the episode guide at sw.com says the tactical droid in "ARC Troopers" is TV-94B, while the one in "Grievous Intrigue" is identified only as TV-94. Make of that what you will (destroyed in "Grievous Intrigue" & rebuilt/replaced for "ARC Troopers"?). And with respect to "Sphere of Influence," I did mean to say that it's possible to have occurred before "Bounty Hunters" -- all this chronological back-and-forth does tend to get confusing from time to time. The only definitive information the episode guide provides is to tell us that "Sphere of Influence" is before "Senate Murders," which isn't especially helpful. Still, I agree that it's more likely to have occurred after "Bounty Hunters," but without any clear indication (the episode guide tells us that the characters from "Bounty Hunters" make a cameo, without clarifying if their presence preceded or followed "Bounty Hunters"), I went the easy route and stuck it next to "Trespass," which is closest narrative cousin in the series thus far.

EDIT:
The placement of "Lightsaber Lost" and "Grievous Intrigue" is interesting. The episode guide says that despite being aired after the "Grievous Intrigue" & "Deserter" arc, "Lightsaber Lost" was produced before "Grievous Intrigue." In the notes to "Grievous Intrigue" the guide says that Sinube and the younglings will appear in a "future episode." But there's no clarification as to exactly when the events episodes themselves occur, in relation to one another.

They've changed it, then. It was TV-94 at the time the episode guide was created.

I took another look at the guide ... and it contradicts itself. It says under cast: "Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker / TV-94B" but under New Characters: "Separatist aqua droids, tactical droid TV-94" so who knows. :vsuicide:

Yes, they must have forgotten to change the rest. But at the time, it was TV-94 in both setences.

Text from this week's starwars.com episode guide:

Quote:
With the start of this arc, which continues in "Pursuit of Peace" and concludes in Season Two's "Senate Murders," the Clone Wars storyline advances to its furthest point in the timeline, and subsequent episodes should continue going forward without as much jumping back and forth.

Since Season Two's "Senate Murders" is actually, to date, the last episode in the chronology, it's a good thing that scenes with Anakin Skywalker were cut from that episode, since he would have been sporting an outdated character model. These scenes can be seen in the Blu-Ray release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Complete Season Two.

Looks like I was correct to place "Senate Murders" at the end of the time line. Good to know that the jumping around should be toned down from now on, too. In any case, I've updated the timeline and will continue to do so.

They had said before that "Senate Murders" was the latest episode in the timeline. It's full of Phase II holograms. I would love to see an episode focused on the changing from Phase I to Phase II armor. How the clones react, etc...

great timeline

I have the feeling that the "toydaria/ryloth" arc would be set before "gunray/grievous/dooku" ... maybe i have this impression just because "ambush" was the very first episode to air so it makes me feel it's early... but it's mostly because, in this order i suggest, that would go in the way of what sidious tell to dooku in "cloak of darkness", stating she had fail them several times in the past (like in rookie arc and feature film...) ... that would add some pressure when dooku let her understand this is her last chance with gunray rescue mission...

your thoughts?

I think it really would make sense to place no Grievous episode between the Malevolence and the Gunray arc. I always felt that Grievous losing the Malevolence and daring to hang up the phone on Dooku was what finally motivated Tyranus and Sidious to reconsider if Grievous was still capable to do his job.

So the droid duology and 'ARC Troopers' really should be placed before the Malevolence arc. If I remember correctly Ahsoka also refers somewhere in the Malevolence arc to the fact that Anakin does not like how she flies. This is a hint to her flying in 'Downfall of a Droid'.
