You know I'm beginning to think that it was a mistake to get rid of Saddam from Iraq. I mean gasoline was cheaper and 2,997 (or by the time you read this 3000+) Americans weren't dead.

Also Reservation is for embedding execution videos.

UPDATE: merged into General Dis thread.

Fish in a barrel.

I read something that almost made me gag earlier today -- a little retrospective on Saddam's life that stated that he intentionally bluffed about WMDs to keep his enemies at bay. Apparently that's going to become our new rationale for going to war -- "we were tricked!"

I posted this in general dis as well. Feel free to delete my thread. The video doesn't show much except some dudes screaming, Saddam saying something, and then blam he drops out of sight. The next time we see him, he's either still hanging with a broken neck or is lying on the ground. It is kind of hard to tell which it is.

This just reminds me. If for any obviously unwarranted reason in the future I am informed of my pending execution, I have a plan. Besides the fact that I try to be a good person and there is really no reason to want to kill me anyways, getting shot in the back running is better than being led like a dumb cow to your death. However, situations could arise which may make running seem pointless alltogether and if so, heres what I recommend.

Try not to shit for at least four to five days prior, if at all possible. Sealing your ass with tape is recommended, to the point of extreme internal pain, but only if you're sure they are really going to do it, because doing this in itself could kill you. Then, before it happens, remove tape and clench tightly. I would also recommend gigling and telling whoever is standing next to you to "get a fucking mop, you rotten fucking prick".

EDIT: This was at first more of a General Dis response, so I moved it there.

Improved with new joke! :wayghey:

Feel free to delete, like they did with Saddam, Ha!! :XD:

EDIT: This is more of a General Dis response, so figured maybe I oughtta' move it there.

The video is pretty tame by snuff/murder film standards. The implications of the event make me wonder quite a bit, however.

For starters, Saddam allegedly had 18+ body doubles when he was in power. Are we sure they got the right guy? His wife didn't think so.
http://www.rense.com/general51/sasm.htm (pravda reprint with way bad engrish)
What's she got to say now? Were family members even allowed to be present? I don't see anyone in the media even trying to get her comment or reaction, and that might actually be news-worthy, either way.

Not to mention the alleged fact that the only thing the "dead man walking" could verbally come up with was a mocking comment about Al-Sadr (wtf!?!). How convenient for the current administration that the only thing on the old boogeymans mind was badmouthing the new boogeyman. If you were Saddam, and they were walking you to the noose, wouldn't you be screaming "Fuck Bush" or "Fuck the UN" or "Fuck everyone who thinks I need to die here right now"? It seems illogical to me that someone who allegedly took over the oldest region of civilization by force, and kept power over it for decades by fear of his terrible will, would go down like such a meek victim. I would have at least kicked or spit at someone, and I'm not the former leader of jack shit.

The last thing that makes me very curious and distrusting of this entire event is the video itself. Why does it resmble the hostage execution videos of terrorist-days gone by? The shaky camera, the yelling in arabic, the thrill of the bloodlust as the act is commited and realized? It all seems very ritualistic. Shouldn't an event as highly important to modern society be better, or at least professionaly recorded? We demand better and more organized executions for average killers here, and we don't start highly unproductive global military campaigns over them.

Basically, the point I'm making is this; I never liked the guy either, but nothing good can come of this. I mean the event, not the video. It isn't something people should be happy about, even if it is legit. It won't help the current situation over there, it doesn't make up for past wrongs. It doesn't aid the knowing of the past or the better navigation of the future. It doesn't even serve "justice" considering his crime here is only one of many terrible many events still under investigation.
What's the fucking point other than "Happy New Year, we finally got someone! What do you mean, 'Osama'-who?". Thanks for posting video though.

So can we assume that this will just lead to even further violence in Iraq? I mean, I'm glad to have him out of power and answering for his crimes, but Jesus.

I don't get why anyone would want to watch the clip. Maybe if you were personally affected by his actions, but for those of us on the other side of the world... I don't see the need. Seeing him actually dying is just morbid and depressing.

I'm sure if I was one of the people who had a loved one killed by him I would feel totally different, but I just can't support killing anyone. And hanging really is outdated and barbaric. If the idea is just that he is too dangerous to be left alive then I know there are far more humane ways. If it's about punishment prison is enough. The people who where actually there to witness it will have that burned into their memory for life. At least he kept those maniacs somewhat peaceful. I wonder if that country can even handle freedom.

I don't think anyone here is really looking at it for kicks, though. True there are people out there who will. And those people are fucked up.

This is a great snap shot of a historical event. Be interesting if other previous executions from way back were preserved on video for our current reference. The record of a life at its end. For some to boohoo for him or otherwise feel like he didn’t deserve this type of end is comical. He used his Allah given talents to gain power then brutalize murder or otherwise enable a lot of suffering on his fellow man. When he could just as easily worked towards a better way of life for his fellow Iraqi, he chose to hurt them instead. The most unfortunate result of the name calling at the end is the Muqtada reference as it strokes the flames of this hell on earth.

That’s trippy they got the door opening under him like that. It’s like a ride at six flags where you hear the wood structure creaking and groaning. The info age is a trip bringing us unedited content on the fly.

The final exchanges

==
Some of the last words Saddam heard, according to the leaked cell phone video, were a chant of "Muqtada, Muqtada, Muqtada," a reference to Muqtada al-Sadr, the radical anti-American Shiite cleric, whose Mahdi Army militia is believed responsible for many killings that have targeted Sunnis and driven many from their homes.

Al-Sadr's father was killed by Saddam.

==
The New York Times reported that Mowaffak al-Rubaie, the national security adviser for Iraq, stood next to Saddam before he mounted the scaffold, and asked him if he felt remorse and fear.
"No," the Times quoted Saddam saying. "I am a militant and I have no fear for myself. I have spent my life in jihad and fighting aggression. Anyone who takes this route should not be afraid."
Al-Rubaie told the Times that one of the guards grew angry. "You have destroyed us," he reportedly shouted. "You have killed us. You have made us live in destitution."
"I have saved you from destitution and misery and destroyed your enemies, the Persian and Americans," Saddam responded, al-Rubaie told the Times.
"God damn you," the guard said. "God damn you," Saddam said, according to the Times.
A silent, minute
==

The End: Translation from source:

[Saddam] Oh God.
[Voices] May God's blessings be upon Muhammad and his household.
[Voices] And may God hasten their appearance and curse their enemies.
[Voices] Moqtada [Al-Sadr]...Moqtada...Moqtada.
[Saddam] Do you consider this bravery?
[Voice] Long live Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr.
[Voice] To hell.
[Voice] Please do not. The man is being executed. Please no, I beg you to stop.
[Saddam] There is no God but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of God. There is no God but Allah and I testify that Muhammad...
At this point the video stops and the sound of the trapdoors opening is heard in the background.

*Hung*

Crowd: The dictator has fallen! God bless Mohammed & the kin of Mohammed!

"Hussein's half-brother decapitated during hanging"

Now THAT'S entertainment!

You know, I think they need to show capital punishment on tv here in the states as a deterrant. Everynight, around 11:30, maybe say channel 2, they drag out the latest child molestor or murderer and hang his or her ass right there on tv. Don't make it all glitzy and shit, just real matter of fact. The guy walks up, they put a pre-tied rope around his neck, 5 seconds later he drops through the floor, they show his body swinging and then return to their regularly scheduled programming already in progress.

Or they could make a primetime show like that old Arnold movie Running Man and have a hit on their hands.
