Palpatine looks positively evil. The look on his face gives me a funny feeling in my stomach, like he's soooo different from that politican from Phantom Menace.

Wow! Even with reliable sources and all, there was a big part of me that thought "they'll never do that" and, yet, there it is. Wow. It's weird but, after that discussion on Dooku in that topic, I found myself really coming down on his side and I realised, for some reason, he has made more of an impact on me than any PT character so far so this image has real power for me and I find it quite disturbing. I'm also rambling so I'll shut up and just stare at those images some more.

What I love about these pictures more than the obvious is that the windows surrounding the action are huge and the battle is happening RIGH THERE. In ROTJ, the battle was happening right there and yet all we could see of it was bright lights and occasional flashes from far far away. This looks like we're gonna get snub fighters wizzing by at full speed and lasers going everywhere, and all sorts of crazy going ons right next to them.

So is the logic behind Palpatine seemingly being captured by Dooku (as it cant be genuine judging by Sidious's powers) that to the Count its a trap for Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker? A chance to settle unfinished business by killing the Republics greatest Clone Wars heroes?

Whereas the reality is that its an opportunity for Sidious to dispose of his no longer useful ageing apprentice and trade him in for a younger stronger new one in the form of Anakin?

Antiriad, the "capture" of Palpatine is because, as the opening title states, the Clone War is winding down. Palps needs something to stoke the fires a bit further so he can expand his consolidation of power.

As always, he uses fear to gain advantage.

An strike at the heart of the Republic is just what he needs to show the galaxy that they are unsafe under the protection of the Jedi.

He can then move into the next phase of his design - the elimination of his competition by framing the Jedi. Jedi order the clones, Jedi unable to protect, a Jedi leader just tried to kill him = you can't trust the Jedi... you know the usual business.

The revenge for Dooku and the aquisition of a new pupil for Palps were an added bonus.
