Woah, those files are great. All of them.
And especially the lightsaber video, thanks.

What about a gif of the Palpatine attack including the posse entering and Palps preparing for the strike...!? :monocle:

If palpy made a leap like that, it should have been shown in some previews. Maybe it was because of time contraints. But that level of badassitutde should have been in the trailer. :heavymetal:

Whoever said all of the "money shots" were in the trailer was apparently so far from being right it's not even funny. It looks like it's just the opposite and all the trailer stuff will be the "boring" stuff compared to the rest of the heretofore unseen film. I can't wait.

In the costume one there's an Admiral Ackbar creature thinger with Padme.. is that scene in the film? Seems like a rebellion organization scene and I thought those were pretty much cut.

I think he might be around for the scene where all the senators greet Palpatine after his rescue.

And you´ll see Mon Cal performers in the Galactic Theatre. With breasts. :weed:

I made some gifs for the movies on the movie trailer page:

But they are in bad quality, so I'm sure Evo and can make better ones outta 'em.

Does that Mace\Sidious window break look weird to anybody. When Mace swings for Sidious' head and he ducks, is Sidious' just twirling is saber or is he trying to swipe Mace's legs? Or was Mace trying to deflect Sidious' saber? Because it looked like Mace was slow after Sidious swiped at his leg, if he was doing that.

Lol, yeah, most of the saber moves don't look ' practical ' it's mostly for showy purposes. I did find it wierd though, since the shot is very dark and I'm not sure how Mace breaks the window. To me, it looks like he was swiping in the other direction. Oh well, it'll still look kick-ass when we see it.

Yeah I think it could just be an optical illusion though.

Its an awkward shot for sure, though.

That's what happens when your lightsaber fights become over-choreographed: Nick Galliard and the Public Relations department can jack off all over themselves for how "genius" they are, meanwhile during the scene, nobody looks like they're even remotely in danger. So you've accomplished nothing, drama wise. The Dooku fights are the worst. Maul/Obi-Wan was the only fight that looked even remotely interesting. But because it's Star Wars, sheep will fill in the gaps, dramatically 'cause it's just so neato.

A lightsaber fight where you really felt like the guys were just on the edge of being able to deal is what you want. Where you really saw one guy on the offensive, and one guy on the defensive, barely able to hold it together, and they go back and forth like that. What you have now is a scene where the defender is already halfway into a perfect counter move while the attacker has barely begun.

But that's okay, sheep apologists will say it's because the Jedi can forsee the future, or some other lame-ass excuse for why it fails dramatically on the most basic level.

By the way, if your scene is actually working like this, you don't have to go on for 12 freakin' minutes.

Well, reality is boring, that's why we have movies. Even "reality TV" is scripted, so I'm certainly not suggesting that.

And Zidious, you're the one you keeps following me around on threads to call me a douchebag or whatever, so perhaps it is you who could let it go. You don't like me, I get it. Now fuck off and find something else to do.

Yeah I think that is just an optical illusion. If you look at it closely you'll see that Mace's saber actually goes behind his body when he finishes the swing, as opposed to in front of it if he were "swiping in the other direction".

They've moved up to the window and Mace is fucking swinging his saber in front of Sidious and Sidious is ducking and spinning. As Mace swings, he hits the window and it breaks. I don't see why people are confused by it or calling it awkward but whatever.

He's swiping towards the window.

Hey guys, this is off topic so forgive me...but what is the general unwritten rule about avatar size? Mine is about 200k and i just wanted to make sure it wasn't causing problems for anyone.

AVATARS

- MUST BE NO LARGER THAN 190px wide X 230px tall.
- NO LARGER THAN 400kb FILESIZE
- Make it good or it will go way.

The second one, but it's Mace falling in "behind the scenes" footage not film footage.

Christ, I hope that Palpatine leap and twist doesn't come off as much of a fruity gymnastics routine as it looks... yikes. Perhaps he's just so happy to be out of the closet that he can't help but leap and spin and twirl yippeee!

Exactly. And I'll tell you another thing, looking at those behind-the-scenes pieces... it is not a good idea to intercut PT footage with OT. If you're just watching the PT, it all looks okay, but once you cut to some OT, suddenly it looks shallow and cartoony, like some kind of video game cutscene. This doesn't seem to bother a lot of people. But you get so much for free when you shoot a real thing versus a blue box where you have to create everything.

I don't mind the jump. I haven't really seen anything yet that really bothers me to be honest. I yet have to see the movie in it's full length before I draw any conclusions.

Can someone make a screencap of Anakin & Obi-wan from the second video file 2670413 at about the 26 second mark right after Ewan's first interview clip?

Anakin is looking away and Obi-wan is looking at him.

Thanks in advance. :)

No.

But from what I can tell so far, the most impressive thing about RotS is the lengths to which people will go to justify, minimize, or deny its weak points. I knew there were Star Wars fans, but I didn't realize how many people cling to the damn thing for psychological survival to the point where they have to clasp their hands over their ears and go LALALALALA every time you point out an obvious flaw.

People seem to have a hard time realizing it's okay to like something that isn't actually that good. So they insist it IS good, inspite of whatever evidence there is. I've seen all the same spoiler footage you have, and tons of it makes me cringe. Yes, it may make up only 10% of the movie, but it's 10 PERCENT. I can't think of 10% of Raiders, or Schindler's List, or Goodfellas, for example, that I have to make excuses for. In fact, I can't think of ANYTHING in my favorite movies that makes me wince like huge portions of the PT does. And I'm more than a touch skeptical of these early reviews: I think most of them are grading on the curve, which is why they all start with mentions of 1 and 2. Congratulations, they say, this one doesn't suck! Sorry to shit on your good time, but I hope to sweet feathery christ that I don't ever make a movie where the best acting comes from a goddamn digital puppet. (He does look good though, doesn't he?)

You may now commence flaming.

C'mon, you can't compare Schindler's List to Star Wars! :|

Compared to the historic events, in Schindler's List Spielberg changed some plot points and characters in an artistic way to get his point across. Unlike Lucas in Star Wars - that saga is told exactly as it happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. So what's your point?

And what is "evidence" in this context? Scientific evidence? Critical rationalism in a Star Wars movie? Karl Popper swinging a lightsaber?

The first part was sarcasm. Obviously. Why comparing movies with a realistic story (for the most part) like Schindler's List with a fantasy film created for children or adolescents?

The second part is a serious question: What means "evidence" in the context of art?

Because the nature of the story has nothing to do with its execution. Historical drama or fantasy, bad acting is bad acting is bad acting.

I have no idea what spawned this question, but it sounds like the beginning of an extremely pretentious, Starbucks latte-fueled intellectual elitist wank fest.

Not at all. Certainly not when you so openly cop to it. But I love Star Wars, too, which is why I feel such disappointment for what I feel are opportunities missed. You know, there are filmmakers out there who are both better directors than George Lucas, and also students and masters of the Star Wars aesthetic. I really believe it would've been better to have someone like that sit in the director's chair. Isn't George's creative genius enough? Does he really have to run the universe, too? He seemed content enough to let Kershner take a shot, which didn't turn out too badly...
