Highlights:
60% is dedicated to complaining about Star Wars, George Lucas, or both.

Not impressed with the script, Anakin's fall is not convincing.

Everyone has better ideas of how the PT should have been done.

A number of them think "The Longest Yard" will kick ROTS' ass the following weekend.

Sigh.

The latest Adam Sandler flick vs Star Wars: Episode III.....

Yeah, that's tough competition :whateva:

George Lucas, Lucasfilm and Fox must be quaking in their boots! :)

It is going to be stiff competition.

Anything is possible, but do you honestly think The Longest Yard, a remake of a pretty good film, is going to be any real competition for Star Wars? Spider-Man was real competition. I see Longest Yard making 150 million or less, nothing more.

War of the Worlds is it's biggest competition. But it opens what, 3-4 weeks after Star Wars? Madagascar doesn't look like big competition. AOTC had a hell of a lot more competition to face than Episode III does.

Not only that, but according to Fandango, Episode III has by far the highest advanced ticket sales in their short history. Better than ROTK and better than Spider-Man.

My prediction for this film has been around 350 million dollars.

As for the Jedi Council, just more useless whining by a bunch of cynical twats. Besides, it was filled with those CHUD dipshits.

Well, I've been wrong before when it comes to predicting box office. I could be wrong about Episode III and Longest Yard. I just don't see anything out of the Longest Yard that suggests it will be anything more than a mild success.

Those idiots at AICN are the reason why people look at Str Wars fandom as a freakshow.

They're like the Comic Book Guy come alive. They seriously need to grow the hell up.

Now, take all that and add in a very large marketing campaign and you've got "stiff competition."

I'm willing to bet you right now the film doesn't hit 200 million dollars, and won't come close to it. That isn't stiff competition.

Like I said, read what I said about Fandango.

Mr. Deeds made around 126 million. Big Daddy made around 163. Star Wars does that 5 days. That's good money for a Sandler film. It's not big competition for Star Wars in any way. Spider-Man's 403 million is big competition. Shrek 2 is big competition. Pirates of the Carribean is big competition. I expect Longest Yard to do numbers somewhere between Big Daddy and Mr. Deeds. We'll see if I'm right.

If there is one caveate to this article, it's that Moriarty offers an afterward which he states that lots of people have been writing very positive reviews of ROTS, and Harry loved it. So they're all very enthusiastic about it.

Sure you are. Now.

Cockbites.

Hey, I just posted it because some people like the JC meetings. I used to. And I think boiling it down to bashing is fairly accurate - much of it is complaining, not discussion. There is a distinction.

I certainly meant no harm. Just offering amusement.

I fail to see why its funny that i can go from admonishing those who read AICN in hopes of gaining actual insight into this film (after 9 years of the same adjectives spouted over and over and over)to offering to share a file that i believe many folks here would like to see. But then again, my sense of humor is a little different....

You see no inherent contradiction saying on one hand that you should expect nothing but shit from AICN, and then on the other going batshit over this file that (I'm guessing) has probably been mentioned nowhere else either before or since? Live in your oddly-humored world.

You can say that twice. Just mention Posthuman or The Facer and you get banned immediately.

To be fair, The Facer is a dork of the highest order.

But he was funny. He single-handedly demolished CHUD and Nick Numbnuts over a silly Hulk photoshop. Too bad he went "legit" over at filmjerk.com. His review of Fellowship of the Ring was the best ever written.

While a lot of it was just self-important verbal masturbation, they did raise some good points here and there.

Mainly the dropped plot points - like JarJar, Sifo-Dyas, the Tuskens, all those threads or ideas that were started but never apparently concluded in Ep 3.

Ok, I just went to AICN for the first time ever, clicked on the Jedi Council thing, read for 10 seconds and closed the window. I don't know what the fuck all the noise is about AICN, but it looked like a quantum singularity of crap to me.

...I guess the quantum singularity reference isn't that cool, either, come to think of it.

The Jedi Councils, like everything at AICN, is a 'read-one-you've-read-them-all' situation. The reviews, the talkbacks, whatever. Once Episode III is over, there will be no reason for that site.

Not that is has served any function during the ROTS ramp-up...

I don't think I've ever read an entire Jedi Council session. I just can't get through it. I know they've been doing it for a while, I think maybe before Clones came out? Anyone remember?

Anyway... I just don't understand why they've kept getting together for this long if most of them don't like the new films. I mean they can still love the old films and hate the new ones, thats cool by me. But why the hell would you get together just to talk about how you hate or are dissapointed by something. Why would you do it for so long? Doesn't really make sense.. but whatever.

I'm as bored as batshit so I'm just gonna close the book on this thread, which deals with discussing some other lame-ass thread on some other lame-ass board inherited with a bunch of whiny grown men who think someone out there in internet land gives a shit.
