While looking for news for my wotw site, i came across this which might interest. Tell me if it has been mentioned, so dont flip if it has.

Spielberg reviews 'Revenge of the Sith' on British radio

"It's not often that the world's most successful filmmaker phones a UK radio station for a chat, but that's just what happened this morning when Steven Spielberg called Xfm's breakfast show.

The 'Jaws' director was taking part in the radio station's 'Bounty Hunter' competition, in which members of the public persuade celebrities to call in for the chance of winning £10,000 (as well as £5,000 for the celeb's charity of choice).

However, the member of the public in question this morning was Coldplay's Chris Martin, and his celebrity of choice just happened to be the director of 'ET', 'Jurassic Park' and 'Schindler's List'.

Clearly flabbergasted, breakfast show host Christian O'Connell nevertheless pulled himself together to ask the Hollywood legend about his latest project 'War of the Worlds', which is currently in post-production.

Spielberg said his adaptation of the HG Wells classic 'kicks butt', adding that it will be very scary and very tense.

The director also revealed that he had seen 'Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith' a week and a half ago, and that it was 'absolutely amazing, the best of the last three films'.

He said that George Lucas's film, which hits UK cinemas on May 19, was very dark, and warned listeners: 'You'll cry at the end.'

Whether persuading Spielberg to phone in will be enough to win Martin the cash remains to be seen, but he faces stiff competition from the likes of Johnny Vegas, Billie Piper, Fred Dineage and Darth Vader himself, David Prowse, all of whom have called the breakfast show in the last few days.

The competition continues until Friday (3 May)."

Only a very short mention of a review, but still sounds very good.

Of course, woudl Spielberg really say otherwise? GL and him are tight. I too would like to hear him talk about his involvement in the film.

I want to know what parts Spielberg played in the film and why he made those changes or input in the film as well.

'best of the last three films' wouldn't encourage many people who think the prequels are terrible either.

This is hardly news to shit over.

I think Spielberg is being honest when he says it is the best of the prequels. To many Non-SW fans, that isnt much of a complement, and I am sure Spielberg realizes that. The comment certainly shows that Spielberg thinks the OT movies are superior to the PT movies. If Spielberg was being dis-honest, or just wanted to dodge the question, he would have said the movie was good, amazing, or use some other adjective. If he thought ROTS was as good or better than even the OT movies, I am sure he would have said it, instead of saying its the best of the PT movies.

My expectation is that ROTS is the best of the PT movies, but still inferior to the OT movies. Spielberg's comments support my mind-set. I need all the support I can get. The hype is trying to drive up my expectations, and I dont want that to happen.

Spielberg has been tight with Bruce Paltrow and Blythe Danner and their daughter, Gwyneth Paltrow -who is married to the guy from Coldplay. Paltrow refers to Spielberg as her "Uncle Morty". So why is it surprising that he got Spielberg on the show?

I find the amount of all those tightnesses disturbing.

Its not about getting excited, its about managing expectations.

Besides being a SW junkie, I am also a huge Batman fan. I flipped over the first Batman movie (1989), so when I heard about Batman Returns, I had massive expectations. After seeing Batman Returns, I was incredibly disappointed. My expectations were too high, and it affected my viewing of the movie.

Having the proper expectations for ROTS will help your enjoyment of the movie. If you expect to see a ESB quality movie before you see ROTS, you are going to be sorely disappointed.

I'm happy ESB was made so that we can compare each and every fart in the SW universe to each and every fart in the ESB. Otherwise, we would have no standard by which to measure SW farts.

I didn't write that.

Personally, I don't think too highly of ESB. It's a film that is totally dependent on ANH and ROTJ. Without them, it opens with an unclear threat and ends with no resolution. It's got some good character moments, but it also has an extremely slow second act.

Besides, as a kid I despised the three year wait to find out if Han solo would live.

That was odd Jen.

You just quoted me and reworded what I said.

I don't think there's any disagreement here at all.

Actually, 3 years ago Spielberg said that AotC was his favorite SW film behind Empire.. so his comment on British radio would indicate that if he thinks Episode 3 is better AotC, he thinks it's better than RotJ and ANH, too.

Or it just indicates that he enjoys hyping his buddy's films.
