It looks like Target and Best Buy have the best price on the soundtrack -- 11.99 at both stores, but I noticed that Target's sales circular says "Free Digital Download."

Does anyone know what song they are giving away and has anyone confirmed which song Wal-Mart is providing for download?

I looked at Target's website but it didn't mention anything about a download for the ROTS soundtrack yet.

I don't know about deals, but Amazon.co.uk has a cool exclusive slipcase with the ROTJ-style logo on it. Looks as if it should be on a 1983 storybook or something, real old-school style.

Target is also SUPPOSE to have an alternative DVD slip case for Revenge of the Sith. So you could get it as a regular CD or as a DVD. That's what I've read, but now sure if it's complete accurate. Target.com says nothing of this.

WalMart has two listings for the CD/DVD bundle. One for 11.88 and another for 14.88. Both offer the exact same descriptions.

What's the deal?

I'll be getting mine at Target. Normally, I buy my electronic needs at BestBuy, but I've been taking advantage of my employee 10% discount lately.

But in this case, I don' t want to toot my own horn, but I'll be getting this CD/DVD for free since I won a contest among my fellow employees and my boss says I get a CD for free.

Target only has standard jewelcases. No slip cases. I work for the bullseye and our shipment arrived a few days ago. They do have neat silver stickers on the front that proclaim "Exclusive Digital Download!".

The actual CD has 15 tracks. An extra track (titled "I am the Senate") is listed online with Walmart.com as the $14.88 cd. The $11.88 cd also mentions "exclusive download" but does not have the "I am the Senate" track listed in it's description.

Plus the track titles and order is different between the $11.88 and $14.88 Walmart descriptions:

$14.88...
1. Star Wars/The Revenge Of The Sith
2. Anakin's Betrayal
3. Battle Of The Heroes
4. Anakin's Dream
5. The Reunion Of Anakin And Padme
6. Welcome, Lord Vader
7. Padme's Ruminations
8. Grevious Travels To Palpatine
9. I Am The Senate
10. General Grevious
11. Palpatine's Dark Teachings
12. Anakin Vs. Obi-Wan
13. Anakin's Dark Deeds
14. The Immolation Scene
15. The Birth Of The Twins/Padme's Destiny
16. A New Hope/End Credit

$11.88...
1. Medley: Star Wars/The Revenge Of The Sith
2. Anakin's Dream
3. Battle Of The Heroes
4. Anakin's Betrayal
5. General Grievous
6. Palpatine's Teachings
7. Grievous And The Droids
8. Padme's Ruminations
9. Anakin Vs. Obi-Wan
10. Anakin's Dark Deeds
11. Enter Lord Vader
12. The Immolation Scene
13. Grievous Speaks To Lord Sidiou
14. Medley: The Birth Of The Twins/Padme's Destiny
15. Medley: A New Hope/End Credits

My advance copy of the CD/DVD from Sony Music in a 2 disc cd jewel case with no slip cover reflects the $11.88 Walmart description.

Very interesting...

Three fucking dollars for one extra track?! This doesn't make very much sense. You'd think a corpo like this would have things cleared up for such a release.

I don't give a damn about the extra song, I just want the DVD slipcase. So if Target isn't going to have it, then who is!?

I'm sure someone will make it available.

At this point, I really am just more concerned about getting the DVD slipcase. I've bought one CD in 3 years (because I haven't heard any new music I like). But I have a monster DVD collection and this would be a great place to keep this soundtrack.

I wish they would release all of the Star Wars soundtracks in DVD-Audio so we could get multi-channel surround sound, THX certified, etc.

Surprised play.com have it as £11.99

Christ, that isn't bad for over here though. Yeah it sucks compared to North America, but I was expecting it to be in the £13-15 bracket.

Does that sound like someone who hasn't bought a music CD in years, so has no idea what they cost these days?

Here's the article recently mentioned on soundtrack.net concerning the differences in the ROTS soundtrack courtesy of chewblacca...

http://soundtrack.net/news/article/?id=595

"Clarifying the Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith soundtrack bonus tracks"

Release Date:(05/02/2005)
The soundtrack to Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith comes out tomorrow, and there has been a bit of speculation regarding some of the ambiguiously announced "bonus tracks" that are available through select retailers.

Back in 2002, Sony Classical teamed up with Wal*Mart to release a different version of the soundtrack to Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, which was a pressed CD including a bonus track, "On the Conveyor Belt". While many fans were disappointed with this move, in which an actual score cue was limited to a particular retailer, this time around, Sony is doing things better.

There will be two bonus tracks for Episode III. Both will be available digitally - the pressed CD in all stores is the same (including the bonus DVD) - but seperately. If you buy the soundtrack through Wal*Mart, you get a digital download of an interview with John Williams. If you buy the soundtrack through Target, the album comes with a DownloadCard, which will allow you to access a radio-edit of "Battle of the Heroes", which has dialogue and sound effects.

With no extra score cues being limited to a particular retailer, fans can rest easy knowing that no matter where they buy their soundtrack, they will get all of the music that is being released at this time. If you want the bonus tracks, now you know where to go!

Best Buy in canada has it for $15.99 the cheapest price so far. Tried finding it on wally-mart canada web site but to no avail. Exclusives suck! I only bought 1 version of Ep.II I've downloaded most of the soundtrack already and I'm just looking forward to completing the set of soundtracks.

Maybe you should first have asked them why absolutely no one else is offering two different CDs.

Does anyone know much about the single scheduled for release on May 23? First, I will say that it's odd that a single comes out after the main CD, but anyway.....
what will be on this CD single? Will we get the Battle of the Heroes track with FX and dialogue? Also, will we get a full version, and not just a radio edit?

HA HA HA!!! :chewbacca: YES!

BTW...Bonus track should be here: www.walmart.com/musicdownloads/starwars

[but the f*cking site isn't wasn't active when I bought it after midnight. BASTARDS!!! It is May 3rd after all...] Hey I'm a geek...whatever.

You put in a code included with the CD and then download the track. I'd put up the code, but want to make sure it doesn't expire after one single download. Regardless....the interview is coming.

On a more curious note...the sticker on the front loudly proclaimed it was an Interview with John Williams...so why the hell did it take until yesterday to hear about it? Damn Sony Classical trying to be all sneaky with their cloak and daggar marketing!!! I miss when RCA Victor had the license...at least then you got liner notes.

Right, the song isn't on any CD. You buy the CD and then download the song from walmart.com.

I picked up my copy of the soundtrack from Target because Wal-Mart doesn't have it on their little list of releases that they keep in there nasssty litttle pocket-sees. Before I tear off the celephane can anyone confirm getting a copy from Wal-Mart that it is a standard jewel case package. As, was all the talk about a slipcase or dvd case just rumor??

Well, I just got mine from Target, it does not list "I am the Senate" , however when im in Windows Media Player, it does show I am the senate as a track.

Also the names are different on some of the tracks on windows media. Although that could just be bad CDDB info I suppose.

I didnt see anything other than the jewelcase at target.

Which track does I Am The Senate "replace" when you're in WMP? I believe I read in the Making of ROTS online supplement that Anakin's Dark Deeds is the cue that plays during the Senate secne, intercut with Anakin wasting the separatist leaders.

I'm trying to decide if I should get the OST from Walmart or Target or BB or somewhere else. I've heard the Dialog/SFX version of BotH, and am looking for info on the JW interview. Is it worth the hassle of going to Walmart to get it, I have not seen it posted anywhere yet either.

I did hear it was only in WMA format not MP3.

TIA

The target discs came with a small piece of paper inside with a download code.

I wouldn't worry about the exclusive track at all. It's the exact same mix that can be found on the DVD sans images.
