Ha ha ha! Exactly.

Anyways, it's not that important, it just seems out of place and goofy since it seems like lately Lucasfilm has been making a point to build it up as the darkest, most violent, and most emotional of all the Star Wars movies. Now it sounds like the rerelease of the Little Mermaid on DVD.

This may seem weird, but one thing that bothered me about the way the Star Destroyer predecessors were portrayed (as in the CW cartoon) were that they had those large red stripes on them. The new Star Destroyers look excellent in this trailer though- sans red lines. I almost had to rewind that and watch it again; it seemed like a clip from Empire was tossed in there.

The voice-over might be a throwback to the original Jedi commercials, but it still doesn't make sense to me. It's a dark movie with little kids getting killed and Anakin getting 3 of his limbs chopped-off and bursting into flame. It's idiotic to market it like it's a regular Star Wars movie, IMO.

What I meant by "Haven't they learned anything from the first trailers?" is that all the TV spots, IMO, suck in the same way. Lame narration that ruins the footage rather than enhances it (especially the first Star Wars trailer... "a boy, a girl and a galaxy" *pukes*). Anyway, I was hoping that they had learned to put something together that would be less cheesy. My bad (though "Jedi Action II" is still cool...).

those commercials are just THE best !!

Good to see confirmation of Plo Koon's death, as is Grievous' voice - sounds nice and evil !!

The Boga looks marvellous (one creature that I thought would suck ass), and Yoda's jump onto the pod is AMAZING !!!

May 19th can't come too soon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed them. The voice over was fine in my opinion and it was clearly aimed at a younger market.

People should stop complaining, we have had two amazing dark trailers and two dark tv spots (Of which tragedy is my favourite TV spot for a movie ever. It's just as good as the main trailers and for something only 30 seconds long that is saying something) and these are fun, rompy types of tv spots. And you may not like it, but there are some fun, rompy type moments in the story... Not many, but there are some.

Don't get me wrong - I don't give a shit. I've just always hated those cheesy voice-overs. Always have, always will. Like I said, the new footage is cool and welcome, but I will register my disapproval, dammit! *slams fist on desk*

I love that trailer.

They need to use it if they´re ever going to advertise a marathon.

"A million years in the making - STAR WARS!"

I also find this bitching about "The poor children" hilarious. None of you assholes could give a damn about children seeing all the violence, and neither do I. :heavymetal:

Yeah it comes across as quite humorous to me too. During the production of ROTS people on message boards everywhere are bitching and complaining... "nyaaaaaaaaah I hope it isn't dumb and childish like Phantom Menace."

So ROTS ends up looking nice and dark, gets a PG-13 rating, and the same people .... "nyaaaah why are they advertising it to appeal to young children, they shouldn't be doing that..."

LOL Atleast some of these worthless posts are good for a laugh.

Dodo any chance of a slightly smaller Obi-Wan vs The General clip? The adverts were superb. Loved Obi-Wan's line, "always on the move....!"

I know I lack clout, and was likely banned from posting for sometime due to an ill-placed rant on the battle droids, but can I get a gif of just that one screen that says "the jedi will face" ... that'd be hot.

Hey thats nice! Thanks for whiping up a comparision shot for us. That is indeed amazing. Side by side comparisons of ROTS Anakin also make it much more believable that Luke Skywalker is his son.

Wow, I love them! Best trailers yet; the voice over is what I wanted to see in a PT trailer since the begining of them. Just a silly "we don't take ourselves too seriously" trailer.

Well, at the risk of incurring more laughter, it did seem a little odd to me that after all of the hype about this movie being too intense for younger kids and meriting a PG-13 rating, and then it finally landing one, that we now get what the OS calls "kid-friendly" trailers.

I'm not so much concerned about what kids might see (let's face it, the PG-13 rating has no power to keep anyone out of the theater) as I am that Lucas and LFL's marketing department have accomplished what they set out to do by practically lobbying for the stronger rating -- and now they seem to be saying, "nah, we were just kidding, it's just another goofy Star Wars movie."

What were those rumors going around a few weeks ago? That some insiders thought the movie was uneven and disjointed? These trailers, varying as wildly in tone as they do, certainly seem to bear some of that out.

But then we are talking about a series whose final chapter features a battle fought by teddy bears in the forest intercut with a duel to the death between father and son...

People must think kids are made of glass these days. What's a kid gonna think? he's gonna think "I'd better not ever act like Anakin because I'll get burnt up." that's what he'll think.

My stepson likes to mimic Vader's taunting when we're wrestling, so I guess I can see where people wouldn't want their kids seeing a character get straight-up vicious, because they might copy the behavior.

Now, I'm not saying that my stepson is going to try and take over the galaxy because he saw it in a movie, but it is kind of a pain in the ass to explain to him that he can't punch me in the nuts and tell me "It's useless to resist," after he watched Star Wars with me and I was talking about how cool everything was.

That's entirely possible. :)

I agree that a lot of folks don't want to take the time to explain the difference between films and reality. We make sure to take the time before and after we watch anything to talk about it.. both to instill the love of movies that my wife and I share and to make sure that he understands the difference between reality and movies.

Sometimes, though, it just doesn't click, and he starts flailing around like a friggin' Power Ranger and needs to be reminded.

In my opinion there are just too many parents who slack off the responsibility of being a parent to their child. Most seem content to let someone else do it for them. With what kids are able to access these days makes me feel that they are somewhat more desensitized to violence & hatred. Especially with reality based tv that tends to focus on villanous characters or participants. I mean some people just don't seem to care what they expose their kids to. I went to see the Amityville Horror the other night & some couple brought their whole gaggle of kids with them. Not one of them were over the age of 8, they had 4 kids.

I understand not being able to afford a babysitter or finding one, but if you want to see the movie that bad & your willing to subject your children to that stuff at that age I don't think the theatres should allow them in when it's rated R for gore & violence. Plus when they say "But we've got 4 kids to feed & take care of so we can't afford to pay anybody to watch them." I just want to scream at them. Look no one forced you to have sex & pop out 4 kids. They just don't seem to realize all the things that come with having young children. If you can't sacrifice the little small pleasures such as seeing certain movies or going clubbing & whatever for the best interest of your child, then whose best interest are you actually looking after.

Ok, I'm done ranting. It just pissed me off that I had to sit through that movie (which really wasn't that good anyway) with these kids who shouldn't even been watching it asking questions & talking the whole damn time. That was in between the crying & jumping around in their seats.

Sorry, way off topic I know.

The tendency to treat the local public movie theater like it's your living room is not limited to parents of small children.
