My second most anticipated movie of the summer comes out on May 6th, and Fox has set up a new marketing tool they dub the "Broadband Experience" for Kingdom of Heaven. It's basically a slick flash-based player that downloads DVD-quality WMP videos for playback on your PC full screen.

NOTE: It will not install with Firefox

It's awesome to have full screen DVD quality versions of all of the trailers and behind the scenes footage.

ROTS doesn't come out for another month, so there's still time. Hopefully LFL will let Fox add Episode III to the list of movies for the player (so far Kingdom of Heaven is the only one, with more promised).

How cool would it be to have full-screen DVD quality videos of both trailers, the TV spots, and all of the web docs that you can watch at any time in a slick player?

I already have that. It's called QuickTime Pro. And every day I thank God that the OS has avoided using any of Bill Gates' shitty software for their downloadable video.

There's not a 1024 version of the trailer in Quicktime.

they should do hdtv/dvd quality versions of all tv spots/trailers for all movies cause if its in HDTV quality ill watch it no matrter what! therefore ganining another person for their marketing net! the only problem with star wars is they know if they release dvd quality trailers they will be pirated and on sale before sunset! this is not usually a problem with other movies though just us star wars nuts, how many other movies have u seen bootlegs for just the trailers

Waiting for Quicktime 7 (April 29th).
Hopefully they do something cool with the forthcoming (and much anticipated) H.264 Codec that will be built into Quicktime 7.

I've never been worried about the size of trailers and TV spots on my computer. As long as the movie is in digital quality imagery I don't really mind. I can't see why you'd want to clutter your hard drive with oversized files.

^ yeah, Quicktime owns. Why have shitty flash-movies with horrid sound when you can have crisp, awesome-looking Quicktime movies with spectacular sound...

It isn't flash video. Flash is just used for the menus. The videos are actually using the HD WM9 codec. It's higher resolution than any of the quicktime trailers.

FWIW: Apple is now offering HD trailers of a few selected films (currently Batman Begins, Fantastic Four, Kingdom Of Heaven and Serenity) at http://www.apple.com/trailers/

Right now it appears you can only view them on a Mac, with QuickTime 7. Apparently QuickTime 7 Pro is not necessary.

Quicktime 7 is absolutely neccessary. You need the new H.264 Codec which allows you to watch HD Video at a highly compressed rate in full screen on a high definition monitor with no pixelation. The official site should get their asses on this. Their 'So-Called' Full Screen on my 23' HD monitor takes up less than a quarter of the screen space. I would love to see the trailer in the same detail as that Batman Begins HD Trailer.
