Tickets are on sale through Movietickets.com for most of the AMC theaters out here in Sothern California. On quick glance I saw the South Bay and Burbank AMCs all had midnight showing tickets on sale.

Too early for a box office report? I've got a friend who works at the AMC Oak View 24, and he says they've already sold around 100 tickets for the midnight show. That ends up being something like $700 in ticket sales. Small, but it has begun :)

Anyone know (by how other theaters worked it, perhaps) when tickets go on sale online for Rave MP? I.e., what time on the 15th.

Who do you know up there? I worked there up in the booth for about four years when it opened. To be honest, if Cinema Center does a midnight, I will be seeing it there. Their big screen is the best in Omaha. The booth guys at Oak View don't seem to care at all anymore. Saw Spider-Man 2 there and wanted to die. (Though being a former projectionist, I am picky as hell.) But in true Douglas Theaters fashion, they don't even know if they are booking it there yet. Just picked up the AMC tickets as a safety net. Hopefully Douglas gets their head out of their ass soon. But I doubt it. (Worked for them a couple years, too. LOL.)

I managed to see Return of the King at an advance screening at Cinema Center. You're right -- their large auditorium is fantastic. And bar none, Douglas employs the best sound system in the area. I always feel like the sound at AMC is too low -- DTS-heavy films that just don't sound it -- and I was just mesmerized by ROTK.

Hell, even Van Helsing blew my ear lobes out. I loved every second of it.

Updated for marcus theaters...

Quote:
Use The Force,

There has been a change with advance ticket sales for "Star Wars: Episode
III." At this time Marcus Theatres anticipates selling advance tickets for
"Star Wars: Episode III" on Friday, April 22nd. No regular
showtimes/midnight showings are finalized and will not be until they are
posted on our website. I have saved your email address and will keep you
updated if any of this information changes.

There is no service charge to buy advance tickets at the theatre. When you
purchase an advance ticket a seat is reserved for you but seat selection is
on a first come first served basis. No one is allowed to enter the building
until 45 minutes prior to your movie. We never sell more seats than there is
available.

Note: Highly popular films will generate longer lines as shows sell out
quickly. We recommend for the most popular films, during the weekends and
holidays, that you plan to arrive 30 to 45 minutes prior to the advertised
start time.

Here in Austin, tix are already on sale for the Alamo Drafthouse theaters. And I also spoke to the manager of one of the Regal theaters and he told me that they received an email that their tickets will go onsale next week sometime. I left my info and was assured that they will call if anything changes.

Didn't the Drafthouse sell out already? It is only at one of the locations. And I saw that Lucas handed down a mandate that no alcohol could be served once the show started. Kind of takes part of the fun out of seeing it at the Drafthouse. GOD, I miss Austin.

The online alotment of tickets to the Bridge theater in LA sold out literally in the time it took me to enter my credit card information. Tickets were available when I started, then they were sold out within no more than five minutes.

Not sure about the status of the tickets at the Drafthouse. I'll be at the Gateway theater to catch this one. Better screens and sound outweigh the novelty of the food and beer at the Drafthouse for me.

If you want DLP tickets for the AMC Empire 25 theater in Times Square, they are available but, you must go to the theater itself on 42nd St. to buy them.

For any MFers in the Northeast, Showcase Cinema's are now selling tickets for midnight shows. I purchased 10 tickets for the Providence Place Showcase. They are expecting to sell out very quickly once people realize they are now available.

I picked up 3 tickets for the May 19th 12:01am showing at the AMC Mercado 20 in Santa Clara, CA, but I had a bad feeling about this. So I called the theatre after ordering via phone and they told me I bought the tickets for the wrong show....that I really wanted tickets for the May 18th 12:01 showing. Apparently AMC doesn't recognize midnight as a new day, so buyer beware. Anyhoo, all is better. The 12:01 show on the 18th was sold out, but the theatre manager decided to show the midnight showing on three screens so thanks to him. And they may add a 4th screen. Enjoy all! :chewbacca:

I bought 2 tix for 12:01 for AMC in Columbia, MD. The default was 5/19, but I punched in 5/18 just in case. Glad that I did, got my tix and glad that you were able to overcome that little snafu. I'm wondering how early I should get there to get a decent seat?

Well you folks are all pretty lucky. I called a local theatre here in Cloquet, MN that ran the first two with reserved seating and everything, and they told me their distributor said no advance tickets are being sold yet anywhere. Probably won't get mine until 10 days before...

Got three tickets tonight at AMC. They say Wed. May 18th, 12:01. I think we'll go about an hour before, cuz I know it's gonna be a madhouse there.

Maybe. I'm not sure what to expect around here, since this will be the first time I'll be at a midnight showing for a SW movie. At this theater though, yeah, I probably should get there earlier.

Maybe it goes without saying, but if you already purchased tickets online or by phone, you can also go to the box office and trade them in for DLP tickets.

So i wasn't awake yesterday morning cause of a heavy drinking/pot smoking session thursday night.

So when i finally realize what plane of existence i occupy, i go to buy tix for the theater in my hometown, and all 3 midnight showings are sold out.

But it's ok, i bought tix from a place only 20 minutes away...

There are three showings, does anyone know if any of them are digital? I know Spectrum has at least one digital theater, here's hoping I get lucky.

I have no idea when they go on sale at Famous Players here in TO, though it's usually a week before.

I'm going to call up now and find out.

Cinemark is now selling tickets for the Dallas area shows online. But, no mention of which theater will be DLP. I can only assume the first showing...

I went to the UA Galaxy for the midnight premiers of both Episodes I & II. But, that theater is now pretty run down and out of shape. Pretty sad considering it, at one time, had the largest screen and best sound system in Texas.

Grapevine Mills... never been to that theater. Is it pretty nice?

Well, I just put in a search at Fandango.com and five theaters in my area are all sold out of midnight tickets. So it looks like I'll be attending the first 9:30am show in the morning.

I bought tickets this morning at the cinemark site and I just checked back... every showing is now sold out at every theater in Dallas.

This IS much more intense... for AotC, I bought tickets to the midnight show the day of and had no problem.

I got mine for the midnight showing in West Covina. The theater is about 15 minutes away, I'll start standing in line about 3:00-ish.

Only I may have to find a way to NOT bring my stepdad's credit card to the showing that night. Fandango says it depends on my theater, and I'm not sure.

I cant believe we're talking about tickets and showtimes....and there's only 32 days left from this moment from when I'll be at my theatre waiting for the 12:01 lineup to begin.

It honestly gets me choked up. wow.

EDIT: Does anyone from TO around here have any info regarding when tickets will be on sale and where they've moved DLP this time? It was at Colossus in 2002, I want to make sure it's still there for Sith.

Indeed the Canadian theatres seem to oblivious to the fact that there's a Star Wars movie coming out next month.

You'd think they'd be a little smarter than this.

I remember here in Ottawa for TPM they were selling the tickets the week prior but you could buy them for as far as a month in advance, which in hindsight makes little sense. :|

Famous Players is really useless when it comes to this.

I'm sure I won't have a problem getting tickets, even if I were to go the day of the premiere, but my concern is also getting tickets for the particular theatre showing the film in DLP.

I don't even know if they'll have an answer for me regarding which exact screen will be projecting the film digitally, but I'd sure like a heads up when tickets are being sold, just so I can have them, and whether or not Colossus will indeed have the DLP projection.

That's hilarious! Do you write your own material? Cause really, I laughed out loud....no, I really did...seriously....see, this is me laughing - hahahaha.

Wow, you're so clever. I can't get over how funny that was. I mean, did you really think about that before saying it, or did it come naturally to you? I know I couldn't have thought of something so funny!
