I've got a ton of .avi on my HD (Lost, Simpsons, SW, CloneWars etc etc) and i want to burn them to DVD so yeah, i need an converter, ive searched high and low, and all i can find is that dodgy trail shit that either doesnt do full folder or has some box saying "BUY ME BUY ME" on it

So if somone could, Direct me to an .avi to dvd converter that works properly
Or if not an converter program, a method that can convert?

Chears

Best plan is to convert the AVIs into MPGs and then burn those onto DVDs.

http://www.videohelp.com/author <--- this website is the King of video conversion and authoring, and has links to step-by-step instructions (with screenshots) on how to do anything. It also has links to every piece of software you might need, and concentrates heavily on freely available software.

edit

from re-reading your original post - you'll probably want to use TMPGEnc to batch process all your AVI files into MPGs, then any authoring software you like to create your DVD.

And Tmpgenc DVD AUTHOR is very capable of converting the mpgs into real dvd format including Chapters and menu. The best choice because of easyness and format-tolerance.

Some can, but MPG is the format your movies will need to be in when you author your DVD - ie turn them into 'true' DVDs that will play on any player.

It's all covered in the step-by-steps I linked to above, including how to many simple menus, or more complex animated menus.

If you like I could come round to your house and do it for you, providing you pay my airfares, and give me head while I do it.
