Crap, I have to go back and get the link...but yea, sounds pretty solid, wish they'd given as a more momentous clip, but I'm used to getting fucked over by HYperspace.

There are a couple seconds that sound like he's about to segue to the Harry Potter theme, but other than that, it's a pretty catchy track, love the chorus. Good to know everything will sound dramatic, AOTC was a letdown in that aspect.

Sounds like something from THE LAST CRUSADE. Decent, but not mindblowing. The choral stuff is interesting.

I feel gypped.

P.S. Its embedded in the flash anyway, I don't know how to get at it.

It's awesome, I love it! :heavymetal:

It instantly caught on...unlike the AOTC score which took some warming up to.

As for saving it...well its embedded in a flash animation which I think is a bit more difficult to rip (but it can be done).

Just download a free flash ripper and save the swf file. It can then be played either by dragging it into your internet browser or by the program.

You can rip a sound file from a Flash movie by using a Flash decompiler. Do a Google search for "flash decompiler", you're bound to find one. eg, one of them for Mac is called Gordon. Might be for PC too.

I don't think its a rip-off...I mean its a month before the soundtrack comes out and they gave us 60 seconds from something we haven't heard before...and I really like that 60 seconds. It's very catchy.

Still, PM me if you're feeling frisky.

I've just re-jigged the horrible HORRIBLE quality of this track (you think they could've at least given us DECENT stereo...gawd...just terrible) I've cleaned it up as best as I could - worth me posting my cleaned up version Fatboy?

Thanks very much, guys! I have to say I really like it - it sounds like an operatic Indiana Jones. I'm glad to see John Williams can still be creative and effective, even this far into the game. If you want an orchestral movie soundtrack, the simple truth is that no one can touch John Williams.

Sounds okayish. What horrible quality. If I were John Williams, I'd be spitting in LucasFilms face for that preview - I did my best for Mr Williams by cleaning it up anyway:

Mirrors please if it's worth it....

Sucks, this is one of the main reasons I joined Hyperspace in the first place, first time I feel really let down. :|

...I liked it though, really sounded nice...the choral part especially, beginning sounded VERY Harry Potter though.... ;)

First of all - MANY thanks to the posters/converters!

That being said, no cue is an island. And John Williams' minimum-quality standard is still going to be good work... he's a master of the craft. The question for the score for RotS is really, "Just how good is it going to be?" It's never going to suck.

But from marketing standpoint, I don't understand the posting of this particular bite... it's clearly not a marquee cue... I would think if you're going to give people only a scant 60 seconds, it'd be a stronger tease. But I'm a life-long Williams fan, so....

And I have to agree it's pretty darn Harry Potter... but they're both unmistakably Williams.

Beginning was straight out of a potter movie, the end was StarWars. He's very forumlaic with his scores though - so everythings sounds "Williams" which is like what you said.

...only recent score he's done which sounded different was the 'Catch me if you can' score, which was pure genious at times.

Again, due to the horrible sample and the shortness of it (60seconds? Christ....) I won't be judging the overall sound until I have the whole score in my hot little hand, which will be sooner than later if I have my way....as Fatboy knows

Prisoner of Azkaban was, in many ways, a much more diverse soundtrack than many of William's recent scores. But this didn't sound like that (or any other Potter track) to me at all.

...but I havn't seen it as yet, can't be in the country...but when I do, you'll get it as well...

EDIT:

Quote:
Did you try running a slight concert hall reverb on your mp3 after you compressed it? I found it spaced out the channels pretty well and opened up the recording a little, although the chorale is still a little tinny, but short of isolating that part in the mix (which I can't really do) I figure we've got it as good as we can get it, Biggs.

I ran a ProTools RVerb over it, just a little after opening up the stereo image with the S1-Imager. I EQ'd it twice (the second time bringing up more top-end) which is why the choral sounds tinny, but then the low-quality source is always going to rape the top-end stuff, so yeah....prolly the best we'll get it from that source anyway.

I isloated a mono-section of the whole track and boosted up the low-end, but not the top...which is possibly why it sounds thinner.

Meh.....shit quality breeds shit quality....

I agree with Fatboy. You can compare this track to just about everything Williams has composed and find similarities.

Regardless, I like it! Seems like ROTS will be the most choral-heavy Star Wars soundtrack of them all and that's about right considering the sheer weight and importance of the story.

Ah, I can finally create a folder in my music section called "Revenge of the Sith".

I think it's great and I'll tell you why. It's not simple filler music. AOTC was primarily made up of music that didn't go anywhere, wasn't catchy and was by far the weakest overall score of the saga. This music is interesting, fun and thematic. THIS is classic Williams. I am very criticial of his work, and this being not a major piece by any stretch is a very good sign for the more major parts of the score.

Those horns just draw people to the Harry Potter comparison much easier because I guess that theme more fresh.

Btw I get the impression that the bulk of this sample of "Grievous speaks to Lord Sidious" isn't from the actual scene in which Grievous speaks to Sidious.

Edit: nvrmnd, I just read on the OS where it states:

The featured cue is "Grievous speaks to Lord Sidious," a rousing piece of adventurous music that accompanies General Grievous' flight to the sinkhole world of Utapau, where he makes holographic contact with his shadowy superior, Darth Sidious.

Don't get me wrong here, I DO like it! - I liked the Harry Potter scores as well, just the beginning does sound potter-ish, but the middle to end is great. It's simply not long enough for me to make a judgement call on it.

I'm content.

Just dissapointed at the quality, they (SW.com) really dropped the ball on that one.

I agree with Fatboy. Sounds more like a beefed up version of the Droid March to me. May sound a little Harry Potterish due to the french horns, but I love the style he's gone with.

Oh, and the vocals are wicked. Make the track.

Yeah I ammended my post above with the info about the track from the OS. Apparently most of the music is for when Grievous travels to Utapau to speak to Sidious.

That's some intense music for a mere flight to a planet!
