Lucas always change things in his SW films, even after its released many many years. If you watch the trailers and featurettes on AOTC DVD you can see flip images (left to right, right to left) of many scenes.

It's there to add another element of danger to the fight.

Let us imagine a time in the not to distant future where people watch the movies 1-6. The don't know who lives, they don't know who dies. This fight is a nailbiter to those people cause at any moment either combatant could be killed.

I think the lava part is absolutely fine.

Just be glad they aren't on seperate pieces or something. Then it would look absolutely ridiculous.

Meanwhile...

As many of you might have noticed, I am without an avatar. Can one of you kind folk cook me up an avatar of Yoda (from the Tragedy spot) when he's talking to Anakin?

Just a loop/reverse....I would do it myself, but image ready is crashing on me every 3 seconds. :)

Nope. I thought she has done some good acting here...

The last one is just magnificant. And I have to say that the choir version of Battle of the heroes didn't sound that bad.

Some of those clips were not very impressive at all. Same with the trivial pursuit stuff (the one where they're trapped in that energy thing had awful acting and dialogue, and then the R2 thing looked stupid). This climactic duel to end all duels is getting sillier by the moment. First we have the saber spinning bullshit, then swinging on ropes, then floating on platforms. I fail to see how the transition to and from these different obstacles will come across as anything but forced. And "you're breaking my heart"? :whateva:

I guess my opinion now isn't a terrible thing. It's keeping my expectations tempered.

The cut down teaser definitely has a different vader voice over, but is it just me or does it sound like vader talks with haydens dialect in james earl jone's vader voice? the thought occured to me when they released the original teaser for ROTS

I thought they were all great, especially "Tragedy". Each little thing I see gets me more pumped than I was, and I didn't think that was possible.

Oh man, the Tragedy spot gave me goosbumbs. Awesome acting by Hayden. that tv spot alone hypes me more than the trailerm, teaser trailer and the 2 other tv spots put together. And I lOVE all those trailers. But Tragedy...pure heartbreak.

Just watched all 3... my quick thoughts.

Finally saw the trailer on the big screen digitally projected in front of Sin City (completely different tanget: if you go along with the ride, Sin City is a fun movie)

And it always looks better on the big screen than it does on QT or on DVD.

So while some shots don't look great (lava surfing, anyone), they will look better on the big screen. Not great or perfect... but better.

The main thing about Lava Surfing is that THE FILM AND FIGHT DON'T NEED IT. Many would say that the best fight in the series was Darth Maul vs. Obi-Wan... and they were just fighting in a plain room with a hole in the middle.

The music editing on the dark side clip is terrible, but that's no big deal.

Portman's acting scares me from what little we've seen.

Hayden is always great when he's evil but his torn stuff like his "NO!" seem weird.

Hopefully in the context of these scenes, the acting will be spot on.

NOW THE POSITIVE STUFF.

Yoda flashing his saber outside the Jedi Temple looks okay, but it proves that the baby-trick trooper-slaying scene is in the film. I think that's great. It sounds great from the spoilers.

Ian McD's acting just continues to kick serious ass (even over Ewan's)

Hayden's evil eyes and acting continue to look great.

Yoda is outside the Temple. You can see the same background in the groundlevel shot of Anakin walking in with the clones.

Ouch bacta, I take it you don't agree with ChosenGuy. Nice to see a civil discussions of opinions ;)

The platform lava 'surf' looks ok, the platform is supposed to float, right? It would look shit if they were actually floating on the lava itself.

Whoa! That Tradegy one was awesome!! Love the new music too

I didn't find the surfing thing bad though, and I'm sure on the big screen it will look even better.

And that aside, we've seen the duel take place on so many different spots, this must be one monster of a scene.

I myself was wondering in what scene that NO!!!! relates to. I doubt it is the duel scene. Anyone got an idea?

Honestly, what do you acting-bashers expect really?
It is still the same actors in the film as the last one,
the ones that did good then (Ian McDiarmid for example)
are still doing a good job. The ones that didn't do so
well are still here too but this time they got someone
to help them get into their character more (dialogue couch)
That doesn't mean the acting will be top notch, just
a bit better then previous.

Dont expect an oscar nomination for any actor, not any
of the younger actors at least. The acting will probably
be better than the previous two, but not perfect. Accept that.

Since no-one has ever seen anyone surfing in lava on a highspeed repulsorplatfom, I think that scene is the least of my worries. ;)

I think Episode 3 will be the best of the prequels, but....

I have seen the 16 ROTS clips from the Trivial Pursuit DVD, the 3 official trailers, these three TV commercials, and I must say in all honesty that the acting in ROTS looks horrendous.

Padme's declaration of "you are breaking my heart" is poorly delivered, and extremely contrived. IMO, that's just not how a person would behave in such a situation.

Hayden is delivering his lines precisely how he delivered them in AOTC.

Episode 3 will be better than Ep 1 and 2, because of the amazing amount of lightsaber combat, and the general dynamics inherent in this film (Jedi dying, Republic crumbling...more action creates more tension.) But, if we are hoping for acting that is on par with Episodes 4 through 6, each of us needs to lower our expectations. Its not going to happen.

Well, I think Episode III's overall quality will be somewhere between the PT and OT... just below The Empire Strikes Back, or just as good if we're lucky.

Yes, Episode III will definitely be visually stunning. There's lots of variety, as we travel through many emotions and environments. Space, cities, jungles, volcanoes... it's one big roller coaster ride of a movie, but balanced with an equal amount of epic storytelling.

Wow. Awesome. :o

I still say that the "bad" acting is intentional and part of GL's direction. I think he wants the themes and visuals to be big and important, but the style to be somewhat like an old B movie from the olden days. Most (not all) critics and fans alike agree that Natalie is a great actress, and that Hayden's atleast a good actor. That's why I think it's intentional. Watch some of their other work. It's like night and day. I also think the delivery of those lines is taken out of context - remember that these are extremely short teasers. We don't get to see the build up to the hightened emotions, so it appears even more exagerated to us now than it would in the larger context of the scenes. Also, as others pointed out, the editing could have been much better for these teasers, so take that into account too.

I could be wrong of course. We'll see on May 19th.

Actually, I think Anakin's "NOO!!!!" is during the Mace/Palpatine fight. He's clearly in his office, and that's the only time I think he would have his lightsaber out like that while in Palpatine's office.

FearlessYeti, I know what you mean. A lot of times trailers fail to impress me because things are taken out of context, and the dialogue sounds weird because you don't have the whole scene in front of you. The ROTS trailer didn't do that to me though :heavymetal:

the last thing I care about in any movie, is acting. It's the story that counts, and the way it's brought to us with Star Wars is brilliant imo.

Holy mother of God, Tragedy rules. The acting is awesome, so stop whinging. The music... excellent.

Also.. I love that new marching shot of Anakin and the clones at the start of the Dark Side Unleashed clip, beautifully framed. Bring on the film.
