Ok I got a better idea. Anyone know how to extract only an audio track out of an mpeg file into wav or mp3 or something?

Anyone know if Dr Bass can use DVD Shrink on a Mac? I use that shit often. Analyze the entire disc and only rip the parts I want instead of the entire disc. Then I use WinAVI Converter to go from .vob to whatever format I want.

Ok I ask again. Does anyone know how to extract mp2 audio from an mpeg video file. It will make things better for ALL of us if we can do it. Otherwise this is going to take a much longer time...

Try Mp3 Converter. I'll try and find a link. Just set the Mpeg as the source and select your rip quality.

Its a little jerky, but here it is...

WTF, Bass? You need to export from MPEGStreamclip to DV so you can pull into FCP and do whatever with it. Either that or demux to m2v and aiff then use FFmpeg and convert to XviD. Use MPEGStgreamclip to export to what you need in whatever encoder you're going to use.

I'm tempted to go out and buy the thing myself. I could have clips up inside of an hour.

Thats what I did. I sent it to mpeg. It worked and I have the entire thing that I can watch here. But the audio stream is gone in whatever program I try to open it into. Converting the whole file to quicktime will take upwards of 2 hours. I have another clip coming righ tnow though. My conversion stopped for whatever reason so I have the first 40 minutes. I'll figure out a faster way to get this stuff out. Anyway...new clip coming in a few.

someone will have to resync the audio on this next clip. It's so far off its laughable. Not sure why mpegstream did it that way. Surely something to do with all the timecode breaks. Not all of it is like this though.

I sent ani/padme to benovite for resyncing and he should be able to repost. These files are turning out big since Im trying to keep them pretty much full quality.

I got the obi wan/anakin elevator shaft scene coming up. Sync might be a little off but its close enough I think. Someone else can fix it to be perfect. ;)

I don't think the comment was aimed directly at you Nigel. Just a heads up.

Maybe someone could also make gifs of the clips once they recieve them to keep us busy.

After that will be anakin/obi and palps stuck in a field. I actually think this scene is kinda funny whereas other people said it was stupid.

Ah damn, I'm on a dial-up connection and that file is 41 megs. It'll take me at least 3 hours just to download it! Thanks anyway, Dr Bass.

Here's the link, hopefully someone with a highspeed connection and editing skills can work their magic.

I can fix the sync on that first one if no one else can. But for now I'll try to keep doing new stuff.

Just a warning to people these files are huge. Mirrors would be appreciated.

Bass, have you tried hitting "Fix Timecode Breaks" in MPEGStreamclip? Or demux the whole thing to DV, then use FCP to do the clipping and editing. Are you using a nicely compressed codec like DivX or XviD or something bloated like MPEG?

mcdermd since you know all about this stuff maybe you can download the raw QT clips and convert them to properly size MPEGs? Then throw them back to YouSendIt. That's considering if you have a highspeed connect of course. Just a thought..

yeah...or just give me some compression suggestions and I'll use them. I am just trying to do stuff that I know will work on anyones machine.

Just saw the qui gon scene. It's shorter than I expected (on this dvd anyway) but it makes me REALLY hope that neeson or a sound alike is in the movie.

could someone please make some more dialup friendly versions of these clips? like 5-8MB would be fine......

i'm not overly concerned about having it at full res and everything so the compressed size would be ok

mcdermd - do you havee any other suggestions for a faster VOB -> editable file? I'm trying the VOB to DV on mpegstreamclip and it's pretty slow.

The elevator scene is very OTish in my opinion. Star Wars isn't all serious and hard-nosed. These scenes are the only ones that have the opportunity to be playfull and light-hearted. The R2 scene was even really fitting. Great move in my opinion to use humour in the early part of the movie, it balances the shit storm that follows.

Dr Bass don't sweat it, man. Just go at your own speed. I may not have a hispeed connection but I know that converting files takes time. Whenever you can get the files up is good. Eventually we'll get them all and rehost and/or convert them to smaller file sizes.

So no sweat, bro! We ain't going no where. :)
