March 31st I thought was going down as "The Day of the Retards".
Now Darth Bass Player comes through for us and redeems the day. :)

Ok im working on the rips but just saw my first ep 3 scene. Ani obi and pals are trapped on the cruiser and obi says "what a minute..how did this happen? we're smarter than this!" to which anakin replies "apparently not."

Working on getting it extracted with mactheripper now. Although the scenes arent going to be straight dvd type rips because of the menus and stuff formatted around them.

I have no idea. What I would like to do is extract just the ep 3 stuff and make individual files for each clip first. What is done with them by others at that point doesn't matter to me.

Save you thanks for when I actually get it done. ;)

According to this program its going to be done ripping the first disc in an hour...so thats two hours for just ripping the discs. Seems like a long time no? Any advice? I'd like to get this finished asap.

It usually takes me 30 minutes to rip a DVD with MacThe Ripper. What are the settings you have it at?

Ummm...full disc extraction is the mode im doing. I want to make sure and get everything. Even though Im pretty good at using editing programs etc for video and audio I seriously have no real clue when it comes to ripping video from dvd's. This is my first time trying it.

Regardless I want to get every piece done and I'm taking off work tomorrow so I can stay up late if need be. Don't worry nigel they will be done at their original resolution. No postage stamp crap here.

Ok maybe someone can answer this for me. What's the difference between ripping the vob files with mactheripper and just copying them over from the dvd as they are?

And how do I convert them to an editable video file?

That reminds me...tomorrow is the 1st, and my bandwidth resets. So, I'll be able to mirror/host all the files if peeps want them. It's nice to have 50gig of transfer a month, tho hosting the trailer ate up a LOT of that this month.

CaptP - I got it at Frys in mission valley. Kinda by the PC games area. They had a little star wars stand. I probably looked a little silly because as soon as I saw it and realized it was the real thing I grabbed it a little more eagerly than what's normal I'm sure. ;)

Would you guys rather have a few at a time or everything at once. I can guess which it will be but I'd just like to know.

Or how about one video every few days until the movie comes out? ;)

I have the first clip done of yoda throwing around the red guards. lasts about three seconds. This should go faster than I thought it would too.

Ok wait...hitting a few snags but I'll work them out. It won't be as fast as I thought but I should still get it to work ok. Who gets the yoda clip first?

My computer is really getting a workout. Im running mactheripper, mpegstreamclip and final cut pro HD all at the same time...

Don't POST the YouSendIt.com Link, PM whomever has stated to host with their bandwidth first to avoid leeching.

I can make YSI.com links as well.

Ok guys DP is going to help me out on this and I am going to focus on getting the videos done. It's a bit of a pain dealing with video files this huge so it's taking a little while. Especially since I have to scan through all the crap just to find the ep 3 stuff (ok it's not crap but stuff we all know like the back of our hands!). Also it doesn't appear that any of them are like full screen dvd clips....they have the menus and formatting around them etc. Hopefully these look good as I've only seen two since since I am trying to get the videos ripped and ready. The first time I really see them will probably be after they are ripped and ready to send out!

Also it's taking awhile to convert from vob to video for example. So just hang with me. Right now Im working on converting a 2.5 hour "clip" so that I can go through and find the ep 3 stuff.

Im gonna be sending them out as I do them. I already sent one to DP via yousendit. He should put it up soon Im guessing.

Sending it out as a whole would be lame cuz people would be waiting awhile. Hopefully once I get things going and ready (still encoding to an editable format) I'll be able to get them out fairly quickly. I hope.

Perhaps there's more of the Yoda clip somewhere in the actual game? Seems like this is only a preview.

No a few of the other clips I looked at while this is encoding were much better. Longer and pretty much full screen. But Hayden looks like he rides the short bus in the first ani/padme clip IMO.

Hey Nigel maybe you can compile all the clips into one file as I send them out? I have to reconvert some crap...this really might take a little while before the clips start rolling guys.

Final Cut "Pro" doesn't want to recognize the audio off my mpeg file otherwise clips would be rolling already. I'm reconverting that clip to .mov which seems to be a lot slower.

Any advice on this? I can't even open the clip in iMovie because of the size.
