Target has launched their ROTS campaign with this website: http://target.com/target_group/stores_services/starwars.jhtml

Pretty cool, you can enter to win a Lava Vader figure.

By the way, would it have been ok to embed the picture in the post because it's at a large site like Rebelscum? I'm unclear on the that rule so I erred on the side of caution.

Now we can kinda get a feel for what Ani looks like when the heat is done with him, except I'm hoping that the legs are detachable or something. I don't want Lucas to hold back on the carnage. As far as the figure goes, that is one of the most detailed 3 3/4 figures I think I've ever seen.

Also, doesn't his look kinda remind you of Frank from Hellraiser I and II?

Well after seeing these pics I have a question about Anakin going into the lava. I believe in a earlier Ternian report there was a mention about Obi cutting both of Anakins legs off before he falls over the edge from where they were dueling.

So maybe he just loses his left arm & gets crispy instead. In the visual dictionary the page of Vader in suit describes his legs as having boots attatched to prosthetics. Does he lose his legs or not? I guess we find out on May 19.

According to the novel and comic book, Anakin loses Both legs at the knee and his normal arm in the duel with Obi Wan. He's left as just a torso with his mechanical hand on a blistering hot sand bank.

His legs and arm fall in the lava and burn up, but the parts of him that remain intact do not.

Then I wonder why in that top set of pics the figure of Anakin still has both legs after he's been burned?

I should stop, its getting nitpicky now.

The legs are probably removable on the figure, like other severed limbs in the past (ie. Vader's hand, ESB Luke's hand, Dooku's head and hands, etc.)

the legs will go for sure. it actually does make Vader more machine than man. plus it will explain his so called gimpy walk in ROTS (hayden said something to this effect, saying he had a hard time walking on 6 inch platforms in a big suit, but that the way it plays out, it's like Vader learning to walk again)

but those are cool figures, reminds me of the work of MacFarlane toys.

well... really, are they gonna sell a figure missing both legs and an arm? that would almost be pointless, so i would imagine they would be removeable...

Also, parents might be slightly against their children buying a figure that is missing an arm and both legs. It could be a bad influence on the children. Course, I'm not sure at all, I'm not a parent.

C'mon, I work in the video game industry--do you know how many parents I personally witnessed buy their kids Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas?

More than I care to think. I'm not mister censor, but I don't think 12 year olds need that game. I'd give my kid a dismembered Star Wars character any day.

well.. next question: what kid is gonna buy a toy with no legs?

presonally, i think a burnt up anakin toy is a bad idea except maybe for collectors, as a statue... but come on. kids want to play with pre lava, and after suit anakin, not the burnt up mess of a person that sees no action and is dragged out of lava

ok...i am a parent and i'll tell you what i look for, for my son: a post lava anakin with one arm and no legs will not be fun to play with. it doesn't matter what they look like, most kids won't understand. they'll just see it as "battle damage". but any figure, not just this one...if it can't run, walk or fight...then why have it ???? it comes down to playability.....

personally, i won't get this as i think it might be a little too graphic for my son. i know he will ask why he looks this way, and i really don't feel like trying to explain why anakin looks that way. but, i might get it as i'm pretty sure most parents will cause an uproar about it and anything that causes fits in parents is all good with me... :)
