Cleared this with DP.

You can use this thread to post ticket release dates for your country/region/state/county etc to make other users aware. If you're brave enough you can also let other MF'ers know where you will be attending your first viewing. :)

To start the ball rolling, tickets for Revenge Of The Sith go on sale from Midnight tonight in the UK from UGC cinemas @ http://www.ugccinemas.co.uk

Tickets for the VUE cinemas also go on sale at 12.01 tonight. I'll be booking a few for Bristol Cribbs Causeway, both at midnight (assuming they do those showings again) and then at the evening showing.

I want to know if there are any people anywhere who are waiting in line to buy tickets already. Just for fun.

Also, when anyone knows about tickets for central valley in California please let me know or post it on this thread. Thank You.

I remember reading an article a while ago that a few people have been waiting in line for awhile. I'm not crazy like that, I'm more practical. I will probably only wait in line for a day or so, haha.

UGC was being a pain in the arse for Glasgow so I ended up plumping for the Odeon at the Quay. They only appear to have 4 showings on release day so far and no mention of a midnight screening.

No mention of midnight screenings here either, but i've booked the earliest showing on the 19th May (like 9:00am in the morning) and the 9:45pm showing same day. :)

I've booked a 06:15am showing on the day of release at the UCI Filmworks Manchester, UK.

Apparently UCI haven't got permission yet to sell tickets for a midnight showing. I'm sure the other cinema chains in the UK must be the same too.

Keep your eyes open, huh? :)

just got back and i actually have the paper tickets in my grubby mitts! the guy said we were probably the 1st people in the world to actually hold tickets for the final star wars movie in our hands! (yeah right!)
no sign of any midnight sshowing at any theater chain yet though, they said that fox had requested no midnight or special screenings, even though earlier in the day the cinema was stating there will be midnight shows and it will open on the 18th for previews! so maybe something has gone down in the meantime? i bet they wait for everyone to buy tickets for the 19th so it all sells out THEN they announce advanced previews on the 18th and midnight screenings on the 17th! or regional premieres on the 16th/17th!

I'm in Toronto, and I believe that CoGro and a few others are in the area. I'll probably see it at Paramount so I can get the IMAX treatment

Got mine for an 8pm showing in the UK on the opening night. Had no trouble with the UCI site, dead quick and it's reserved seating for once.

I noticed Odeon Leicester Square isn't bookable. I assume they're holding this one back? I thought it was one of the few digital theaters around.

Weird. In Sweden the tickets are being sold on the 15th of Maj, not a day earlier. Thought they would release them at least a month in advance.

here is my thinking behind the no midnight shows yet thing!
i bet one of the cinemas announced tickets on sale march 24 so all the others jumped on the bandwagon they all know they will get the movie officially on the 19th so its safe for them to advertise showings for the 19th but they are probably yet to confirm the advanced screenings etc. when i spoke to the local vue yesterday around 7pm they were still finding out how many prints they would actually get and were still expecting to do advanced screenings on the 17th or 18th and have the 12:01 showing, they were still unsure after midnight but then they got the call through saying just go for the 19th this is why some people were left hanging on till like 12:45am as everything was still being verified!

Let the maniacal fandom begin.

So Dogg, can you buy & drink Guinness in your theatres there in Ireland?

Mmnn..StarWars & Guinness cold or extra stout at the same time. Life would be grand.

Is anyone in line at Graumans in Hollywood yet?

Yeah, I never understood that. Although where I'm at, it seems hardly anyone's up for it, whereas the USA guys seem to know how to enjoy it more. I hit Dallas for the LOTR trilogy tuesday the Christmas before last, and it was a shitload of fun, just stuff most English folk I know never go for.

Good news, hopefully that means the Orange Wednesday issue's been sorted out and the rest of the chains can get around to booking their midnight shows.

The Famous Players site now has ROTS listed in the coming soon category.

Still no sign of when tickets will be sold or showtimes yet.

I don't know about central valley ca, but I know that there are people waiting outside the Hollywood Chinese theatre for tickets, raising money for charity. They're hoping against hope that the theatre actually shows it, because the theatre says it is not. Sad that the one that started all the screenings of the first film 30 years ago is not showing the last film. I have the phone number to the pay phone in front of the theatre, if you want to talk to some of the people in line.

2 weeks before May 19 is when the theater I would like to see it at (Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara) will most likely begin selling tickets. They did the same for AOTC and TPM.

well i've tried calling to my local AMC theatre (which i attended ep1 and 2 at) multiple times today just because no one really knew for sure when tickets would go on sale, and i got a different answer every time. one chick even tried arguing with me that it was being released on may 15

i'm thinking about contacting the AMC marketing or sales dept just because i think they would have that information and be in control of the individual theatres, right? or does each theatre control their own ticket release dates?
never worked for a theatre so i'm not sure how this goes down.

If/when you find out anything about what AMC says, be sure to let the rest of us know...I was just going to ask about when they go on sale, but you beat me too it. Good luck finding answers.

If you want a solid answer from AMC, call their corporate headquarters in Kansas City. They don't have a marketing department anymore (put a lot of people out of work), but you should be able to talk to their head of booking and find out something. Though they will most likely give you the stock answer of, "Whenever Lucasfilm tells us we can". They (the theater owners) don't really like LFL very much at all. They are second only to Disney as far as being nazi's when it comes to placement and booking.

Dude! Who are you? Are you in line yet?

I'm Richard: buddies with Tom, Billy, Emil, Henning, etc. I visit them in line nearly every day.

I will be flying to L.A. to visit family in May and have planned to go to Grauman's Chinese theater (where all the other Star Wars films have premiered), but the word on the street lately is that ROTS won't be showing there. :(

So now I'm not sure where I will go for the midnight showing. Maybe San Fransisco (near Skywalker Ranch) and hope to run into some of the crew...

They said Episodes I and II would not play at the Chinese, but they ended up opening there.

As for San Francisco, the Ranch is actually about 30 minutes north of SF in Marin County. Lucasfilm used to hold their company screenings of Episode I and II at the Coronet in San Francisco (the Episode II line at the Coronet actually got to watch the movie a week early with Lucasfilm in 2002), but that theater has since closed and I am not sure which one they prefer now. Rumor has it the Coronet was a personal favorite theater of George Lucas.

They will find out just about when everyone else will so anything they say at this point is just to give you something and not seem like they are brushing you off. At best they will have a days advance notice from when it is annouced on StarWars.Com.

U.S. Domestic advance ticketing cannot begin before the MPAA gives Episode III a rating which is one of the hold ups. The other being that film terms and bookings are still being hammered out and the earliest it looks like they will be is April 15th. That said, don't expect them to begin then, Lucas is expected to allow US advance ticketing Friday April 29th or Friday May 6th holding to tradition with the past two prequels.

ATTACK OF THE CLONES advance ticketing began Friday, May 3rd, the first Friday in May.

Tickets for Sin City went on sale before it had a rating. I bought my tickets almost a week before the R rating was finalized.

Not really, I bought my Sin City tickets at the Edwards Mira Mesa in San Diego about a week before the rating was finalized, and Edwards is part of Regal :)

Just got a call from my buddy who is a manager at the AMC here in town. Tickets go on sale TOMORROW. A company wide email went out today telling them to expect showtimes to be sent tomorrow morning and that they should start uploading them into their systems for sale ASAP. So call your local AMC tomorrow if that is where you were planning on seeing it. Might wanna check with other theaters as well. He said that they might not be in the system when they open the box office first thing, but that they would definitely be there by the end of the day. :chewbacca:

Good Afternoon!

Thank you for contacting Marcus Theatres, Guest Service and inquiring about
"Star Wars: Episode III." "Star Wars: Episode III" will open in theatres on
May 19th. At this time Marcus Theatres anticipates selling advance tickets
for "Star Wars: Episode III" on Thursday, May 5th, two weeks prior to the
release. We will attempt to post any midnight showings a few days earlier,
such as May 2nd. No regular showtimes/midnight showings are finalized and
will not be until they are posted on our website. I have saved your email
address and will keep you updated if any of this information changes.

There is no service charge to buy advance tickets at the theatre. When you
purchase an advance ticket a seat is reserved for you but seat selection is
on a first come first served basis. No one is allowed to enter the building
until 45 minutes prior to your movie. We never sell more seats than there is
available.

Note: Highly popular films will generate longer lines as shows sell out
quickly. We recommend for the most popular films, during the weekends and
holidays, that you plan to arrive 30 to 45 minutes prior to the advertised
start time.

Thank you again for writing to us. If you have any other questions feel
free to call your local theatre
