I'm crossing my fingers on this one.

Hmm, I don't really think this is needed. If you watch ESB in the context of the prequels, you'll obviously know that Yoda was just fucking around once he gets serious in the hut.

But he still doesn't fart! :(

Seriously, however, this is quite pointless. Even an utter idiot watching TESB realizes that Yoda is testing Luke's patience with his initial swamp antics and there is no need to inflate this obvious fact, beat it into the viewers' heads and create yet another forced OT reference for its sake...

I think GL has been reading :gb2tfn: way too much. He has caught the dreaded " everything must tie in to the OT" sheep disease. Like said in a post up above, you will already know who Yoda is by TESB and even still why not save something for the character in the OT

First Yoda as a baby, then a mud-covered madman. Well, either it will work on film or it won't. We shall see. I'm hesitant.

As funny as this might be, I think that it would probably end up on the cutting room floor.

It sounds like they are already trying to squeeze some shots into the movie. As for me I dont need to have another scene to help me realize how wise & cunning Yoda is. Watching ESB & the first two prequels has already established that fact. If no one has caught on by now then they will really flip their lid when they find out Palpatine is Sidious.

Yep.. could be good, could be not so good, but either way its totally expendable, and last I heard Lucas talk about it, the film was running to long on time. I wouldn't miss it if it was gone.

I heard about this earlier and was hoping it would turn out to just be a rumor :(

The last couple of reports have been a bit disapointing :( Almost seems like George is trying to balace out the darkness of the storyline that he's so convinced we're all gonna hate :whateva:

oh well, maybe it won't be that bad. I hope not at least...

Hope it gets cut. Scenes like this are totally pointless. As someone else already pointed out, not every single thing in the OT needs to be directly referenced.

The general consensus in the Star Wars community is that Yoda is more than a two dimensional character. That's why George shows him kicking ass and why he's one of the only Jedi to survive the purge. That alone is enough not to show a scene of Yoda being resourceful. But it's George's movie so I guess I was owned before I said anything.

This is fine as a means to an end. It might be hard to pull off in a movie though. We'll see.

We'll just have to see. But I do hope it gets cut, cause its sounds kind of goofy.

why doesn't anyone state the obvious? Star Wars fans have always loved Yoda. Yoda is the man. Ever since the PT films came out, hasn't it been obvious that Lucas realizes this and tries to use the Yoda character any way he can? Dumb scene or not, people love Yoda.

Unfortunately, I don't think it is a rumor. I've heard about this whole mud thing A LONG time ago. So, judging from that, and then the resurfacing of it here, signs point to the possibility this may make it into the movie.

This is *very* good news. Any hints of the funny Yoda we know from ESB and ROTJ will be great. It's the contrast between his serious side and his silly side that made him so fascinating in the first place. The grumpy green bastard that's been in the prequel so far is not the Yoda we all know and love, and it's very clever to bring in such a scene at this point. Besides, it's very natural for one strong with the light side of the force to find alternatives to fighting.
