"I'm hearing a completely different death..."

Which is what, exactly?

The Visual Dictionary says:

Plucked from death on the black-sand bank of one of Mustafar's lava rivers

I think I'm picturing him saying this a lot different than most.

I see it the way Fatboy does: A stern, final "I hate you" and it sounds perfect. A close up of Anakin's face, fighting death with concentration just to utter those words. It's the best sentence I can think of to be Anakin's last before he dons the suit.

Do you think that Obi-Wan presumes that Vader died in the flames?

I'm not understanding the murder bit and going against the Jedi code.

From what we know of the movie timeline, this takes place after Obi-wan and Yoda watch Anikan sweep thru the Jedi temple and pledge himself to Sideous. At this point, in my mind, Anikan is no longer a Jedi and Obi-wan attempting to kill him is perfectly acceptable.

My rationalization for it, was that Vader is helpless and Obi-Wan won´t kill him like that. The Jedi kill when their opponents are on equal or greater terms. It´s just like Luke not killing Vader when he was lying on the floor on the DS II.

I really do have to wonder how much they can pull off showing in a PG-13 rated movie in terms of Vader's "Well Done, please" body (or what's left of it). I also wonder if there is any way the ratings board might come back with an "R" rating. Would GL cut some of the movie in that case to get back to PG-13? In that case, I would hope he would at least release 2 versions in theaters so that those of us who want to see the Director's cut can see what Vader looks like in the end (Blackened hair/burned flesh).

Yeah, you have to wonder if this'll be the first SW movie to get an 'EXTREME UNRATED CUT EDITION!!!' ala all the shit teen comedies that are popular these days.

I was watching AotC last night, and I noticed an interesting "rhyme." Shmi's last words were "I love you,"" and Anakin's are "I hate you." Maybe some of you picked up on this right away, but I thought it was an interesting contrast.

The spoiler describes him taking a moment to give Anakin a final talking to while he's being engulfed in flames. This is before the "not wanting to commit murder" part. The spoiler doesn't make it sound like geography is an issue here, either. Obi Wan makes a choice to turn and leave, and this ties in well with his words to Luke in ROTJ. He believes Vader is a lost cause, and it will be up to Luke to prove him incorrect.

It also brings up the question of how much Ben can see through the Force. He seems fully aware in the OT that Vader is all machined up, so I guess he looked through the Force and saw that while undergoing his training with Qui-Gon's ghost on Tatooine?

It is perfectly alright to kill him, just as it would have been for Mace to kill Palps or for Yoda to kill Palps. But he doesn't kill Vader, though I wonder if at the end of ROTS he believes he may have.

I am not sure where murder and the Jedi Code come in. Was he supposed to comtemplate finishing Vader off? And given Vader's predicament, it probably didn't seem necessary.

But, what could Kenobi have done? How far is Vader from him? Vader's robe is catching fire, he is barely holdling his ground in the sand with his one arm, and he then catches on fire. Then here comes a shuttle. So, leaving him there for dead is not murder.
