Hey folks.... Just a quick one: Tblog revealed that GL is going to be blue in RotS. This is correct. The Baron escorts his blue daughter, Senator Chi Eekway, to the Opera.

Wow. You're just figuring out that now? You don't remember all the lies he told about AOTC that never happened?
I never believe anything anyone says who are official voices for promoting the Star Wars movies.
And Porkins of the PT never looks at the camera. |

Blah. I don't care about Lucas's cameo. . . . What I really want to know about is EGGPLANT PARMESAN!! Is he a baron in the Marinara Sector beyond the Provolone Rim? |

Hey Tern, I'm not sure if you know anything about this, but Pabs said in his most recent Q and A that Palpatine is not ancient, in fact, he's not much older than Ian Mcdiarmid's age. Yet we've been led to believe that Palpatine is infact quite older than he appear.
Is that untrue? Or was Pabs just talking about PALPATINE in particular and not SIDIOUS? |

* Palpatine is not ancient. He's normal age:
PALPATINE
...has never run since he was a boy on Naboo...
* The picture of Threepio with Padme on Coruscant. Imagine she's turning her back to the camera and Threepio moves towards it - and you have the exact "I feel so helpless" trailer scene.
* Trees on Kashyyyk are called wroshyr trees.
*
PALPATINE
Lord Vader, your skills are unmatched by any Sith before you.
Go forth, my boy. Go forth, and bring peace to our Empire.
*
AMIDALA
I am no happier than the rest of you about this, but I've known Palpatine for years; he was my most trusted adviser. I'm not prepared to believe his intent is to dismantle the Senate.
MON MOTHMA
Why should he bother? As a practical matter as of this morning, the Senate no longer exists. |

My suspicion is that Sidious did kill Plagueis, but I guess the whole cheating death thing was bullshit.
I assumed that that was true, as it would be the nature of the darkside to not accept the natural circle of life and use the force for selfish gains and to prolong your mortal life for as long as possible. Ultimately, this is just false immortality, not the kind that the Jedi can find after death.
But I guess that's all out the window. And I guess the only reason Sidious's face goes bad is just because he uses lightning. |

I always thought that a siths face became more distorted based upon how corrupted they became by the dark side. The longer and deeper you are consumed by the dark side determines how evil ya look. |

Some more:
*
YODA
My failure, this was. Failed the Jedi, I did.
*
YODA
A moment, Master Kenobi. In your solitude on Tatooine, training I have for you. I and my new Master.
OBI-WAN
Your new Master?
YODA
Yes. And your old one...
*
MON MOTHMA
All right. Then Terr Taneel would be my next choice. And, I
think, Amidala of Naboo.
BAIL ORGANA
Padme? I am not sure.
MON MOTHMA
You know her better than I do, Bail, but to my mind she is exactly
the type of Senator we need. She is intelligent, principled, extremely
articulate, and she has the heart of a warrior.
BAIL
She is also a longtime associate of Palpatine. He was her ambassador during her term as Queen of Naboo. How sure can you be that she will stand with us, and not with him?
MON MOTHMA
There's only one way to find out. |

So it sounds like Qui-Gon does teach Yoda & Ben the secret of living beyond physical death.
So when Ben tells Vader in ANH "Strike me down & I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine." Basically saying you can hurt me physically but you cannot stop a spirit of the living force. |

| You know what i've gotta wonder now? If Qui-Gon teaches Yoda and Obi-Wan the secret in between ROTS and ANH, then when, and more importantly how, does Vader learn it & join the Force when he dies in ROTJ? I'm thinking that won't actually be explained ever. Not that I will care too much if it isn't, but it'd be nice to have that explained. I can think of a couple possibilities, but having one official explanation would be ideal. |

It's because of the whole love thing. Anakin did love already, I think thats one of the reasons it was made that love is how they do it. That way it doesnt have to be shown how Anakin learned the trick. Thats probably really why they did the Hayden change in ROTJ, so you see it is the Anakin that loved Padme that became the ghost. Its really simple what I'm trying to say, but I dont know if I'm wording in correctly
edit: oh and yea I totally agree, a real offical explanation would be better. George gave a sort of explanation on the ROTJ commentary, but in light of this new revelation some detail would be good. |

I like this emerging picture very much.
The fact that Yoda and Obi-Wan remove themselves from the scene to meditate, comtemplate and learn is very biblical. It recognises that the Jedi now need to reassert humility into their vocabulary; that what went before came close to arrogance and overconfidence (Mace?).
The parallels with the Sith in the PT are striking too. Two of them, in hiding preparing their reemergance. The difference of course is whereas the Sith impose a perverted and twisted notion of power and the Force on the galaxy, what Obi-Wan, Yoda and -ultimately- Luke do is completely subvert that through a simple doctrine of "love" and sybiotic coexistence with the world around them. Back to basics. |

I think Achilles nailed it pretty much right on. It does come down to the love factor. Anakin always loved Padme, when she died he thought his child or children died too. He felt that there was no reason for him to be Anakin Skywalker anymore. So as impulsive as he always has been, he makes the decision to turn fully into the dark side.
As far as him learning the Force ghost trick, I figure that its not really a trick but just allowing yourself to feel compassion & unconditional love for any & all things in the universe. Qui-Gon was that way & he taught Obi to be that way. Now between trilogies its Yoda's turn to learn. But with Anakin I feel since he was the Chosen one & was created by the living force that it (the living force) is able to grant him on some other level the ability or as a reward for bringing balance back to the force.
Just food for thought. |

Which would have contrasted with the Han Solo Trilogy.....but when has Lucas cared about the EU? I did like the trilogy though, alot, so I'm happy its legacy remains intact. |

Well, Lucas actually said back in the early 80s that Han Solo was raised by Chewbacca on Kashyyyk - it was the EU that ignored HIM. |

I always assumed he was so perplexed at Obi's vanishing act in IV, that he contemplated it in his chamber and figured it out himself. |

It could be tied with the "love and compassion" stuff around the Jedi giving themselves to the Force. Think of it, as Vader grabs the Emperor to throw him down the reactor core, he's not Darth Vader anymore.
Anakin takes over Vader, giving his life to save his son. Talk about an act of compassion |

| Han raised by Chewie? Right, 'cause they always had such a father-son dynamic going. Dumb. I'm with Fatboy, that was probably no more solid than General Grievous being an evil child or Jar-Jar's heroic death. Concept guys are paid to throw ideas against the wall. |

The Rick McCallum interview from Total Film (March) definitely suggests that they were trying to work Solo into ROTS but they seemed unsatisfied with how it would pan out. That would jibe with the supposition of him being raised on Kashyyyk by Chewie which for me is one of the worst ideas for ROTS I've heard yet.
The whole idea that Solo was potentially in Yoda's company before Luke just doesn't sit right with me at all for some reason. I think this idea is best left to EU along with the Wookiee enslavement idea. |

For crying out loud... Han raised by Chewie was Lucas' idea from way back in the early 80s. It was in various interviews back then when he was asked about how they know each other. It wasn't thought up for ROTS and it wasn't some concept guy's idea. |

Doesn't make it less dumb.
Besides, wasn't the old story that Han spent some of his childhood around Wookiees? That's a far cry from being "raised by Chewie." |

IF han had been exposed to yoda...the only explanation for his line about flying from one side of the galaxy to the other and seeing nothing to prove the force to him (i paraphrased) would be if yoda had acted silly, farted, and han witnessed it.
Both of those ideas (han being raised by chewie) and yoda farting are two of the worst ideas I've ever heard of for star wars, whether they were thought up by Lucas or not.
Sometimes, other writers come up with something much better than Lucas did...and the han solo origin is one of them. |

For Jotun and his walking arse:
OBI-WAN
You were the chosen one! It was said you would destroy the
Sith, not join them. It was you who would bring balance to the
Force, not leave it in darkness. You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you, but I could not save you.
-----
SAN HILL
Welcome, Lord Vader! On behalf of the leadership of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, let me be the first to...
VADER
Very well. You will be the first.
VADER removes his hood and ignites his saber.
SAN HILL
You're Anakin Skywalker!
VADER digs his saber into the chest of SAN HILL.
VADER
The resemblance is deceptive. |

That dialogue is classic Vader.
EDIT: Ternian posted this over at TFN:
