I am not a fan of Ian's portrayl of Palpatine in the PT, so this is not a big shock for me.

I went back to review the trailer description of this line:

Palpatine (close-up, speaking very slowly, deliberately, looking straight ahead, watching the ballet)

I'm not going to judge it until I see it in the movie.

I don't want to rain on anyones parade but that ain't Ian McDiarmid's voice as Palpatine from ROTS.

It's the dude from the Random House webdoc. I reckon this sound file is taken from the ROTS audio novelization and not the trailer or the movie for that matter.

Stab me if I'm wrong.

Then tell your "source" to leak the trailer. J/K

BTW, if he/she does leak it they can use an anonymous offshore host over at www.katzglobal.com. Something to look into.

Cue up the Random House video to 2:39 and compare it to the sound file.

I'm surprised so many people think it's Ian McDiarmid.

Close but no cigar.

I couldnt agree more... it in no way sounds remotely close to Ian's voice. i find it hard to believe this is from the trailer.

it fits with his expression

It's like he's talking matter of fact while not paying attention to Anakin.

I don't know what some of you are smoking. That line sounds exactly like how Ian McDiarmid portrayed the Emperor in the DVD version of Empire. Compare the trailer line with:

"Search your feelings, Lord Vader. You will know it to be true."

Yes, but Ian McDiarmid is the Emperor in both movies ;)

"Couldn't agree more"? So I take it you actually watched the video?

The first two clips are definitely from the trailer. Why would the source need to fake the third?

Hasn't ADR already been finished at this point? Someone said they hope they fix it in ADR, but I'm pretty sure ADR is done.

I'm hoping b/c the "You were the Chosen One" sounds amazing, and I pray that's the track that ends up in the film.

Anyone remember how Padme's "Get to your ships!" in the TPM trailer sounded a whole lot better in the movie? In fact all her lines did.

I thought the "get to your ships" line sounded better in the trailer. she breaks character in the dubbing and speaks with an accent like the queen in the final, whereas in the trailer, she speaks american english and it sounds more natural. It was a poor decision to dub that line.

I don't see how any person here thinks the clip is fake. Firstly, you're wrong and second, you're fucken retarded.

Well, it's amazingly lame to get so worked up over whether or not you like a single line, (audio only, out of context) in a two hour fifteen minute movie.. but, whether you like it or not, it's even lamer to deny that that's Ian.. I mean, come on.. use your brains..

Exactly, and I didn't like the whine delivery of "Search your feelings, Lord Vader." :P

ADR is finished now.
But...
They showed the finished theatrical trailer to Hayden and co at London while they were still doing the ADR, so some of this dialogue may sound a little different in the film.

Kinda like Obi-Wan's "Good Job" from the AOTC Mystery Trailer

I can not believe people think that's not Ian's voice. Of course it's Ian's voice...why the hell would they use a completely different person???

Most people thought it was James Earl Jones doing Vader's voice in the Teaser Trailer :P
Now we know it was Hayden's voice from the Sith Knighting scene, digitally modified.

I'm not exactly thrilled by it either, but since those DVD scenes were shot during ROTS production, I think that's basically how Ian is going to be portraying the character in Episode III.
