Dark Horse Comics editor Randy Stradley recently posted this bit over at the darkhorse.com boards:

Quote:
Sue Rostoni has just sent me the final version of the Ep III screenplay. Actually, it's the early draft from which Miles Lane and Doug Wheatley produced the adaptation, with all of the parts thaat have been cut from the film marked out in red.

Obviously, it's far too late for us to make any changes, since the adaptation is already at the printer (as is Del Rey's novelization). What that means is the adaptation will feature a lot of action and dialogue which is not in the film (just as the film will contain atons of action for which we did not have space). But the adaptation will also feature one very important revelation that is no longer in the film!

It's kinda cool to be in a position to be the ones with the "scoop," so to speak...

Any idea what "revelation" is he talking about?

I'm guessing the yoda-to-dagobah scene which we learned was cut a few days ago....

Hype, my child...to sell the comic. It would've been a revelation to some seeing it on the screen, now we won't.

Thats my guess.

Tern/DP would prolly know what he's talking about more than my speculation.

Must not be that important...

Exactly. If it's not in the film, it's EU.

Why cut an important revelation out of the film?

I hope Randy doesn't mean the Qui-Gon scenes.
But something that hints to that is a quote that was just posted at the JC, from a UK movie magazine:
Quote:
Despite Neeson hinting at his return-

RM- "I think that Liam was just being mischievous". "Maybe an image of him or a voiceover was considered, but never a part"-

Ternian, do you have any more infos about that?

Maybe the scene called "Revelation" by BTH? The scene where Padme tells Anakin the rabbit died? I kinda hoped they would leave that in..... :whateva:

I might be a idiot, not finding out how this forum works, don't kill me. Anyhow
this is the third and last time I try to get this message out:

The Relevation you refer to might, just might, be Darth Sidious influencing the midichlorians to create life, as suggested by the Plagueis thread. This particular life form is Anakin Skywalker. But as GL don't want to repeat the "I'm your father" part from the OT, we're not going to actually see this in the film.

I dont believe it has anything to do with Sifo-Dyas. Thats more like a plot point or a catalyst for character motivation.

It just might be like a secret that Sidious was going to reveal to Anakin at some point in the story.

But isn't that what pushes Anakin over to support Palpatine? That if he can learn this, he can save Padme?

Of course, it doesn't make direct sense that "the ability to create life = the ability to ressurect" so it would make more sense to change (for Anakin to care) the lines to indicate Plagues could resurrect instead of create.

I might have missed some news here, if so, I stand corrected. Anyhow, according to the Hardcopy spoiler of some time ago:

Quote:

As the graceful dancer moves about stage, Chancellor Palpatine recounts an old story; The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise.

This infamous Dark Lord of the Sith supposedly gained such an insight into The Force that he was actually able to influence the midichlorians to create life. Anakin becomes interested in this story after his haunting dreams of Padme’s death – perhaps this time he could prevent her death, unlike his mother’s.

Here Palpatine actually says create, not recreate. Of course, that might have been the subject of change since. I remember how important it was for GL to show that Qui Gon Jinn didn't seemed to much romantic in his actions towards Shmi Skywalker. He told Liam Neeson not to embrace Pernilla August in their Tatooine slavequarter scene, just so there could be no misunderstandings. It was an import plot to show that Anakin actually was concieved by the force itself. And here comes the revelation that Darth Sidious actually is capable to influence the midichlorians to create life, alas the conclusion that GL at some point intended to show that the dark side also had a strong part in the creaton of Anakin Skywalker..
But as I mentioned earlier, I don't think this revelation is there anymore. It wouldn't work.

Oh well, what difference does it make, I'm just a goon anyway thinking about it the way I do.

 :?

Yeah, you are.

The whole point of this power Plagueis gave Sidious is that it allows you to cheat death. That's what attracts Anakin to it. Rest assured, that won't be cut from the movie.

I don't think Qui-Gon would be cut either. It's probably just Dagobah.

I got to go with Tolun on this one. No one, well, at least very few people have even contemplated Palpatine being Anakin's father. Anakin was after all created through immaculate conception, just like our beloved Jesus was. It would make sense (at least in Lucas' crazy sw universe) to have the ultimate dark lord sprinkle some midichlorian seeds down into the soft, fertile baby patch that is Shmi's uterus.

Heehee...that line made me laugh.

Anyway, Lucas does like to mirror themes and images throughout the trilogies. What better and bigger thing to mirror from the OT than the surprise, "I'm your father" routine? Sounds too good, if only for its cheese factor. But, as it stands, it looks like this theory is holier than a rye on swiss, so it doesn't really matter.
