I like to keep my music. Subscription means your music is locked out if you don't pay up. Not what I want.

I go for iTunes. It's cheap ($1/song, $10/album average), available in more and more of the world. The DRM is kind of restrictive, but better than most. You can burn a playlist to CD-R up to 10 times, authorize five computers to access your purchased music and put the music on as many iPods as you want. However you can strip the DRM very easily with JHymn so you can copy and transcode to other formats if you want.

I've purchased about 400 songs over the last year and love it.

That's my 2¢

I have to say that I don't like any of the services. iTunes is the best though. I buy less CDs but I get what I want out of them :)

I use http://allofmp3.com/ it's a music service located in Russia. You get to choose your encoding on lots of stuff and you can get most albums for $1-$3 depending on the size.

If you check it out, look for the "English" button in the upper left so you can read the site, unless you can speak Russian.

I use msn through windows media player. No frills and I didn't really look at my options, it was just easiest to do. I know Microsoft is counting on that. :| :whateva: I get most songs for $.99 and albums range from $9.99 to $15 for a double album. Once you've downloaded, you can keep the songs and set up your own playlists in media player. Not bad overall.

Yeah, everyone said this new band sounds like Queen and I had to check them out, since I am a huge Queen fan. I was kind of excited so I did. I just didn't get it.

But I have to say that I prefer the Darkness over the white-boy rap-metal fusion that rock has suffered through in the last 3 years (at least in the main stream).
