Jon Berg did a Hyperspace chat yesterday. For Episode III, he's working on the model trees for the Kashyyyk fighting environment. Reading along, I caught something he said that, well, he probably wasn't supposed to say. What does everyone make of this?

Quote:
We have the animatic [of the sequence], and it will actually be the basis of a CG grove of these trees as well. Since the sequence is supposed to look like a D-day landing, you're going to have a lot of moving camera shots.

A D-Day landing? Who's landing where? I'm guessing that the droid ships land and pile out and the wookies, Jedi and clones mow them down? I can't picture it being the other way around on the Wookies homeworld unless they've already lost control of the planet and Yoda is there to try and help them get it back.

Also, if it is the Wookies doing the "invading" and "landing" in D-Day style, many many of them are gonna be killed. Even more darkness out of Episode III. That said, I think it'll be the other way around. George can massacre large quantities of landing droids with no trouble from the MPAA.

What do you think?

I agree that it's the Separatists who will be invading. Some of the paintings shown on HS look kinda like a D-Day invasion with the droid tanks rolling up on the shores. A lot of Wookies are going to get killed anyway it seems when the Clones turn.

And Mecha is the master keeper of official quotes. :)

I agree. The separatists seem to have had control over Kashyyyk at some point.

It’s one of the fallback positions for them after the opening space battle.

This is mop up duty for the Republic forces.

It could’ve been done without Jedi, but Palpatine has them walking into his trap.

Does the issue of Wookiee slavery ever come up you think?

I mean, there'd be some heavy irony there if the Seperatists take over the planet only to have the Republic Clones swoop in and regain control of Kashyyyk, turning the Wookiees into slaves shortly afterwards.

I could dig seeing lines of wookiees being herded into slavery like cattle. :heavymetal:

It would be cool to see some visuals of clone(storm)troopers occupying certain worlds at the end of Episode III. A clear military presence.

Maybe something they could do more with in the television series. The freeing of Chewie by Solo. :chewbacca:

I remember reading somewhere that Palps turned a blind eye to the Transdoshans and they had a hand in the entire slavery issue. We all know that he has issues with alien species, however, I think it's something that he's gonna ease into.

I'm new BTW, got wind of this place from coming across a thread on CHUD.

Kudos to Carl, Mecha, Fatboy, Jason... I've been enthralled reading your discussions over there and here the past couple of days!

I remember reading that Trandoshan Slavers MAY be in Episode III.
PH said it or maybe one of the Lucasarts guys.

They're in Republic Commando :rock

I asked Steve Sansweet if Trandoshans would be on Kashyyyk and he reply was "sort of."

He wouldn't elaborate further, but I do know that the Kashyyyk stuff is being reworked, and there were originally no plans for Trandoshans to be on Kashyyyk, if at all. That came from some of the Lucasarts guys.

So, they're not in the Episode III film, but they are in the Episode III video game.

Huh? Sounds to me like it was just Lucasarts' idea for Republic Commando, and then it eventually made it's way into the film in some form... or not at all! :P

This was my impression. I concluded that since Trandoshans were put into Republic Commando, Lucas went back and decided to stick some in the background of the Kashyyyk battle in Episode 3. I think that's what Sansweet meant by "sort of."
