I know most of you on this site are younger than I, but I felt the need to share this with you. I hope you all will be respectful in your replies.

On Tuesday September 28, I lost my baby Alex.

For four years my wife and I have been trying to start our family. We've suffered through two previous miscarriages, but they were both very early in pregnancy.

In fact we'd waitied to announce this one to our families until we could hear his heartbeat and get a clear ultrasound picture of him, and the doctor said our chances of miscarriage had decreased to 5%.

This time, everything seemed great. We'd started buying toys and had our nursery planned to be SW themed. My wife's as big a fan as I. In fact, we went to the charity premiere of AOTC for her birthday.

We bought some SW beanie babies, got some original Ralph McQuarrie art to put on the walls, and purchased the little SW figures with the big heads and stumpy little legs they make for the little ones.

Unfortunately, the prior Tuesday, only 15 weeks into this pregnancy, my wife's water broke. The doctor's gave us a very poor prognosis, but we still prayed for a miracle.

The miracle we recieved was finding out how loved my wife and I are. All of our friends and family dropped everything to help us in our time of need.

He was born at 12:30am on Tuesay. He weighed 3.40 ounces and was seven inches long.

Please take a moment and say a prayer for Alex Sheffield. He was born and died on September 28th 2004.

Oh, my god, Ziggy. That has to be about the worst feeling in the world to lose a child before birth. There must be a myriad of thoughts going through both your minds without relent. I'm sure it's unimaginable to someone who's never been there.

Coming off the heels of my sister-in-law's husband losing his battle with cancer last weekend, my heart goes out to you and yours. Greive, heal, and continue.

Thank you. I just needed a chance to put my thoughts in order. It's been one heck of a week. With time, love and prayer we will be able to recover.

My wife and I both appreciate your responses.

Bless you all.

Wow, I can't even imagine what you must be feeling.

My sister in law recently struggled with 2 miscarriages before concieving, so I know how hard it can be on all.

I do hope you and your wife keep trying, and that some day you will have a healthy, happy baby of your own to raise in the ways of the Force.

God Bless you both.

I usually just lurk here, but I had to say how sorry I am to hear about your loss. I'll keep you, your wife and Alex in my prayers.

You and your family are in my prayers, Ziggy. I can't begin to imagine what kind of pain you, your wife, and family must be experiencing right now, but it must be rough on all of you. If there's anything else we can do here other than offer you our condolences, please let us know.

Thank you all for your encouraging remarks. I knew there was a reason I liked this place. :heavymetal:

We still hurt, but sharing our pain has helped to diminish the load.

The path of life is not necesarily the one we have planned. God has a path prepared for you, your wife and your children. Be patient and keep faith, it will lead you to good things and wonderful times.

Remember Alex, for one day, his brothers and sisters will want to know about the love that created him.

Tern.

I am deeply saddened by your loss, Ziggy.

Be reassured that the pain you feel now will be repaid tenfold in happiness sometime in your lives.
