Okay, so I've been lurking for months and now I need to ask a question.

I have $50. A 20, a 10, and a $20 gift card for Target. So I have to buy my set at Target. The problem is, will I have enough? Target decided not to advertise their price and advertised "Low Price" only. Now I know Target is pretty generous the first day of release on a lot of DVDs but I still don't know.

I'm only 15 and this is a lot of money we're talking about here. In fact, I'm going to walk to Target after school tomorrow--after my detention--and walk across the street to my aunt's to watch them on her big scree--but anyway, will I have enough??

I'm sure. You can always ask if they price match, as well. You just need to bring in an ad with a cheaper price on it.

-_- thank you Cobra...

I think what I meant to include in the post--and no I don't want to edit and make a Special Edition post--is that the DVDs may be less than $50. Maybe something like $45 or $40.

Hey kid,

Do you get lunch money? If so, starve that day. I used to get lunch money, and then I would run home after school, eat, pocket the cash, and then reap the benefits at the end of the week.

I think Indiana Jones was like $44 when I got it at Target the first day. It also came with a free six-pack of Dr.Pepper. So if they got it for $44 look for the free Dr.Pepper deal. It kicks ass.

I think you have a pretty good chance of getting it out of the store for under $50.00 I used to work at Mervyns which is under the Target Company. They always price matched. So get a junk mail clipping for Best Buy or some store that has it in your price range and take it with you. Most likely they will price match anything that isn't a collectible.

Good luck man. Good work on the detention. Stick it to the fucks at your school. School is a joke, get serious during collect. Also, don't listen to me.

Why not just call the store and ask them straight up what the price is, and what their policy is on price matching? If they can't hook you up, threaten to firebomb them. Just make sure you use the payphone around the corner.

Mmm hmmm, I like what I'm seeing....

So tomorrow's the big day and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get them.

But onto my new topic: My Detention, or My Detention and How It Is Totally Gay, Like, Whoa.

So they hand out detentions for being 30 seconds late at my school, which is totally gay and it just happened to land on Tuesday, the most holy day of this week. Even worse, this girl I'm talking to--that's what we call "liking someone but not liking them" now--was supposed to have her first detention on Tuesday (I'm like a pro compared to her) but she told the teacher she didn't deserve it and get it cleared. How gay.

I hate High School.
I love Star Wars.

It's sort of like that time I stayed up until 3 A.M. watching "EMPIRE OF DREAMS" when I had school the next day.

I work for Target and sadly, I can confirm that we no longer price match. This goes for region 300 stores at least. (Southern/south west U.S.)
Anyhoo, the set will be on sale for $44.99. Depending on how much tax is in your state, you may have just enough. Good luck!

$44.99? The kids has enough! $50 will cover it. Takes is seven and 3 quarters. Good work kid, you got the movies!
Tax should be $3.50 or so.

Tax varies state to state, and county to county. In the part of Texas that I call home, I pay 8.25 %.
But yeah, either way he should have enough.

I work at Target in Michigan, and we do not price match either. I can suggest that (sorry, I have to say that being 15, this won't help the initial post) anyone who wants the set from Target for $40.00 can apply for a Target Guest Card or VISA at the registers. You'll save 10% (for the whole day) and you can pay it off at Guest Services while you're still there. While this sounds like a commercial, it's actually just a way to look at getting it for an even better "Low Price" than the release date sale. = )

In Australia, security guards at shopping centres can't even detain you until police arrive without risk of being charged with Unlawful Detainment. All they can do it try to convince you to stay by your own choice or escort you off the premises. And all that bullshit about it being a condition of entry that workers check your bag is bullshit, you are totally within your rights to tell them to get fucked. They bank on the fact that you will open your bag for them when they ask, it's part of the collective retail conciousness now.

oops.

Got 'em for $48.70 at Target in San Dimas, California. Major success. Biggest triumph of my life most likely. Until I make my first major motion picture.

But yes, they are mine and my detention was horse shit and when I got outta there, I walked--yes, I had to walk home that day--to Target which was right across the street from my aunt's. It's crazy, I got out of detention at about 3:00 and my receipt says 3:17. My my my, it must have been the running I did. :)

I was very happy when i got them. I've been watching them almost everyday. And that night I went home and decided to hook up my stereo to my DVD player. I don't know why that hadn't been done earlier, but oh well.

Wow, I'm rambling on now! I just wanted to say thank you to all the help and info. But I have so many stories with these DVDs! Like today, my Animation teacher played the EPisode III preview in class and I told the kid who sits next to me that I had a boner and he got all freaked out. What a jerk.

oh yeah I forgot about how San Dimas is a quasi-celebrity.

Well if it's any entertainment value, I go to San Dimas High School. Not that big a deal, really.

Cripes!

Actually, most of the people at my school, including the teachers, forget that we are at San Dimas High. It isn't until new kids come and say, "You do realize your school is famous" that we acknowledge it at all.

Besides, I proclaim this topic the best one ever. Because it's so rad. I totally fought for those DVDs and that's awesome.

You DO save 10% with both Target VISA and Target Guest Card. Yes, you do have to be approved, but that's only good business. What company would say, "Yeah, we'll give you money off of your purchase for no reason at all. You didn't get approved? You mean you can't use your Target card in the future because of this? Hey, feel free to save that 10% this time just because we love you." ?? It's very unlikely that would happen. Of course you need to be approved- they want you to use the friggin card. The 10% is the incentive.

If you didn't get approved on the spot but got a mail response message saying that you'd hear from them in 7-10 days, you can get the 10% credited to you when you receive your mail acceptance. If you got denied, pay your credit card bills completely and on time to avoid the accumulation of bad credit on your report. End of story.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I've actually never seen Bill and Ted's. I think I saw like half of it on Comedy Central. Is it, like, a cult hit or something?

I know I must be one of those annoying lurkers, but I need some help. I unfortunately can't afford the DVD set. What I'm looking for is a "Birth of Darth Vader" link that I can download it from. I've checked all the other threads and can't seem to find a functional link. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am posting this here since it seemed to have the most recent activity. Thank you in advance.
