I don't think its Commander Cody. Cody was seen in webdoc 3 and he didn't have those scars.

I reckon there's a good chance it's Cody but only because I don't think there'd be much reason to show a clone without a helmet on unless it impacted the storyline like Cody's friendship with Obi Wan does.

It could be for a close up shot of Cody or something, that web doc was pretty ambiguous considering that Temeura Morrison was wearing white sports shoes in it. ;)

Nah, I doubt this is Cody. Scars are for less sympathetic characters.

Temuera plays a lot of the commanders. He plays Commander Thire, Bly, and others. In fact the caption of this picture says "Makeup artists add battle damage to Temuera Morrison, to help distinguish one of the many clone commander roles he plays. (Photo by Derryck Menere)"

I think at least some of them will be Bodie's face. Either way, yeah, it will make a difference.

Why does it even matter what's real and what's CG?

Look! A Clone Pilot!

Well, it's not more Jedi, but it's always good to see more Tem.

Tem is cool. :heavymetal:

Opening space battle just went up a few notches. :bounce:

They've used digital stunt doubles for stunts that would be too costly, too dangerous, or the director wants the audience to see the actors face.

Seems reasonable enough to me.

Lucas is a liar then - they used a digital double for Obi-Wan in AOTC (the scene where Jango is dragging him along the ground on the landing platform).

Your fucking kidding right? Let me draw you a map. There’s a difference between casting Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and creating a digital actor to play Obi-Wan Kenobi. Lucas’s comments have nothing to do with special effects such as a digital Obi-Wan being dragged hundreds of feet by a rope. To say Lucas is a liar because he decided to use CGI to create variations of Temuera Morrison and Bodie Taylor is fucking retarded. Think about it…

Hmm, everyone take another look at that shot...

is it me or is the helmet totally non-symmetrical?

Look at the lines coming down from the sides (the edges of the opening in the helmet) Its not quite 3d is it?, from the angle of his head, the right side of the image is wrong. Count down how many bends are in each side there are 2 in the right and 3 in the left (of the viewer, not the pilot) Its like an impossible object!!!

The reason i was looking at this area in particular, is because it looks as if there is a face guard which might slide down fully, as there are slots for something there.

just acouple of observations

Did anyone notice that the helmet looks like a cross between a stormtrooper and an x-wing pilots helmet? That makes sense since he's piloting an early x-wing model but is essentially a stormtrooper.

Pretty neat. It's probably the targeting computer on either Obi-Wan and Anakin's starfighter. It's very retro, it looks pretty much like the displays in Vader's TIE Fighter.

Contender for the worst film of all time!

Looks like they redesigned the Separatist Cruiser again, they moved the tower down to the back again.

The display is exactly like Vader's TIE.

That Jango Legacy shot looks so sweet.

Its obviously all cgi and im sure the scene looks good in motion and will be really quick.

I really dont care that it looks cgi, i love the shot cause it looks like 'old school' star wars. THAT is what i want...worn out shit, dirty textures and that white contrast. Love it.

Maybe lucas can pull off one good new sw at last. Everything i've read and seen so far looks fantastic.

MUST SEE TRAILER NOWWWWWWW :)

The same things were said about TPM and AOTC. I distinctly remember telling my Uncle (a huge fan of the OT but hated TPM) in 2001 that Episode II was much much better than TPM, and I told him that based on spoilers and having read most of the dialogue and plot in the script (tip my hat to SI). And as it turned out, most of my favorite scenes from the script were left on the cutting room floor. And because of that, to this day, I enjoy TPM more than AOTC. (This is one of the main reasons I'm hoping AGAINST a script leak for ROTS - I don't want to know what scenes were left out this time).

I'm not saying TPM and AOTC were bad, nor am I saying that they were awesome. I think they are pretty much average films. But, when you think about it... so are Episodes IV-VI. The Star Wars movies are not meant to win acting or dialogue awards. Never have been, never will. But yet the saga (all five films) are still my favorite MOVIE of all time (I count them as one).

Anyway, I say this because I expect no less (or rather, no more) from Episode III. I expect it to be an average FILM - but I also expect it to be an awesome Star Wars movie. Which is what I expected - and got - out of Episodes I and II.

Anyway...

Not sure why you think that. Looks fine to me. The work by ILM is just the background. I can't imagine how ridiculously hard it would be to try and match a helmet onto Temuera's head with CG rather than just making one helmet prop for filming.

Jango's Legacy does look entirely CG...
I dunno, it doesn't have enough detail or something.
Maybe it'll look more real in motion.

So far the most realistic work ILM has done was the CG Obi Wan double trying to catch the lightsaber while fighting Jango. That fooled me entirely.

Sad but true. I guess you could call me optimistic or hopeful that Lucas will come though on us (not trying to speak for everyone) and make ONE friggin good SW movie.

Yeah but come on. Just look. Its looks completly cgi. And you know Lucas. We talking about someone who wasted $18 million to make Jarjar work in TPM. All the clonetroopers in AOTC were cgi. So why would you think that Lucas coudl ever think logical? ;)

In anyways its a great shot cause i like the old school sw flavour. Im sure the shot is very quick....

New one is up early today. It's Artoo shocking something off camera. It looks like Obi-Wan and Palps are standing behind Artoo with a battle droid pointing a gun at them. Looks like they're on the TF cruiser bridge too. Perhaps after Obi-Wan and Anakin rescue Palps, they're captured by battle droids and taken to the bridge and Artoo has to help them which would coincide with spoilers about Artoo's heroics on the TF ship.

Happily, I very much enjoy all 5 films. No dragging down of the OT or elevation of the PT neccessary.

Sadly, very obviously CG! Why didn't they use an actual R2 unit and add the effects to it, rather than trying to attempt a complete CGI R2 for a close-up? I mean, you can tell it's obviously CGI, which is bad.

Actually making all the clone troopers CGI to both match the backgrounds both far away and in close-ups seemed to be cheaper than actors in costumes.

EDIT:

The R2 in the pic seems to be a real model, with only the appendages CG. Or it could be completely CGI. But then again, it is on digital "film", so everything looks shinier anyway.

People who are sick and tired of CGI, should not see this film. You´ve been warned. :P

But, this tearing down of the original Star Wars trilogy to elevate or defend the prequels needs to stop. The original SW trilogy is a true classic.

Classic, of course. Great films? No. They have many problems.

I'm not saying I don't love them. And I'm not "tearing they down" just to make the prequels look good, because I love the prequels as well. I'm merely pointing out that people complaining about bad acting and the like in the prequels seem to have a short memory.

As for the new BTH, R2 looks CG to me as well. But you know what? I don't give a shit. It's not gonna ruin the movie for me. Not by a long shot.

1. it's a .jpeg, so quality is always going to be lower from a high-def source

2. depending on your monitor, it can look worse/better (mines on an 18" flatscreen, and it's looks tasty)

3. Who cares if it's CGI or not, I mean REALLY?

The cheezy backstory they gave this "blink and you'll miss him cameo" character in AOTC is that he was a con artist pretending to be an official in order to swindle folks at the club in AOTC. I don't know if that story ever made it into the EU, but it's not apparrant at all in the film.
