Quick question. Is the saber blue when it's first activated in Obi Wan's home? We don't realy see the saber much in ANH, and I could live with the fact that they just changed it to green throughout. Of course if it is just a fuck up then it's poor quality control. Still, it'll give em a reason to re-release the set in six months! ;)

Actually, disregard what i just said. I'm clearly not awake yet! Obviously if they'd changed it for ANH they'd have to do it for Empire, and I've heard nothing about that. So, just an error then...

I don't mind the occasional off color lightsaber effect. Nor am I an " apologist" because I don't think there is anything to apologize for.
I think it gives some character to Luke. Mace Windu has the only purple saber blade in the saga, and he stands out. Luke is the primary protagonist in 4 through 6 so, good , his saber is sometimes blue, sometimes white, sometimes teal. Me likey. It gets away from that uniform background character look of most Jedis. Everyones saber is either blue or green, where is the harm in a little diversity? I chalk it up to the saber being over 20 years old and laying in Bens trunk. But then again, I love Star Wars.

Thanks Faid. I know this isn't the thread for it, but if you could get the 9 minute Ep III clip from the bonus disk uploaded, that would be fantastic.

Can we get a screenshot of Luke's lightsaber when he ignites it for the first time, and on the Falcon?

And maybe a shot of Luke vs. Vader in ESB. That would be awesome.

I know it's a stretch to ask for this, but the opening of the film until Vader walks on screen in the same frame size, anamorphic, and 5.1 would really hold me over for the next 12 days :).

But it's a lot of video and a lot of bandwidth. :(

I noticed the green saber when I watched the ANH DVD a couple of nights ago. It appears green in the first shot, shown above, and then white-ish for the rest of the scene. I thought it was my projector but that screen-shot is pretty much what I saw.

And yes, it is a retail set...

Thank you George Lucas for having created the Star Wars saga, all SIX films. Thank you for giving me the oppurtunity as a fan to enjoy the imaginative wonder you envisioned 30 years ago. I have enjoyed it all of my life. And most importantly, thank you for thinking of the fans and releasing this marvelous DVD edition. It is quite obvious and apparent you and your team worked very hard to create this set for US. It is VERY much appreciated by those who matter. Sincerely, the fans.

Thats right, even Jar Jar Binks. I'm a Star Wars fan. I don't give a fuck what anyone else says. George Lucas is a brilliant film maker and as far as I'm concerned new changes = more minutes in the film = MORE Star Wars. So give me Yazzum, and Jar Jar Binks. I GET the films. I GET what he is saying with them. So this DVD edition is for me.
Who gives a MOTHER FUCK that 2 seconds of lightsaber effects is WHITE?? Jesus Christ!

Star Wars is back baby. :heavymetal:

Good, good. Sincerity is a rare thing these days. Example: my "kill george lucas / 'our' films" post was an example of sarcasm.

I'm a first generation fan. I'm 31 years old. It is fucking hilarious how young kids try to dissect and tear the specifics and particulars of these films apart like they know what the fuck they are talking about or could do any better.

Heres a little secret for you.....from 1984 to 1996 nobody gave a FUCK about Star Wars. It was gone. So as far as Im concerned EVERYONE owes Lucas for even thinking about shit that happened in his life years earlier and revisiting it. Thats more than most people do.

True true. You see I LIKED Jar Jar Binks, espesh his "on second thoughts, no, not really no" speech. That still makes me laugh.

Anyway, I stand by the "it's only a film" way of thinking.

Thats right Reala, though it's off topic there wasnt a FUCKING thing wrong with Jar Jar Binks. Only a bunch of Jaded, cynical, bitter Generation Y'ers who have been spoon fed massive body counts in movies would find ANY harm in a character as bumbling or innocent as Jar Jar Binks. Lucas didn't put him in the film for your fucking asses anyway, he was in the film to remind kids thats it's OK to feel awkward and aloof sometimes, that it's ok to be clumsy, that people will still love you and accept you for who and what you are. God damn emotionally crippled idiots.

And what pisses me off more than anything is that the squeaky wheel gets the grease and a few "fans" cried and bitched so loud that Lucas felt rejected and because of that Jar Jar got slighted in the films and now reduced to 2 seconds of screen time. Fucking sad.

Mark my words. Now.

In 5 years time, when Star Wars is gone again and the " it's cool and narley dude to bash Star Wars" bandwagon has broke down , these same cocksuckers that bitch and complain about Luke's saber being white, or Vaders saber being pink, or Yazzum, or Ian McDiarmid doesn't sound like he did in ROTJ, or the Prequels suck, will be CRYING and begging for George Lucas to make more Star Wars .

And I hope and pray to God George Lucas gets on National television and says " Rot and burn in hell you fucking ingrateful, peice of shit bastards. I GAVE you Star Wars and tried to satisfy you ungrateful tools and all you did was cry. So fuck your childhood."

LOL, I'd love to see that. Can you imagine?

"Newsbloke: And we now have a special interview with legendary Star Wars creator, George Lucas. What you got to say George?

George: Rot and burn in hell you fucking ingrateful, peice of shit bastards. I GAVE you Star Wars and tried to satisfy you ungrateful tools and all you did was cry. So fuck your childhood.

Newsbloke again: ...... Erm, woah, didn't see that coming.

Crazy George: Yeah, well fuck you, you tool. I'll rape your childhood if you look at me funny!!

Newsbloke: .....

George: I WARNED YOU!!! DIDN'T I WARN YOU!?!?

Newsbloke: *runs away

George: WAHAHAHAHA!!.... Yazzum.... light... sabre.... ho, ho...."

Lucas wouldn't. He has integrity and is obviously sensitive. But you can bet by God I would get on TV and say it. Especially if I had just spent the last 30 years of my life making a product , spending millions of my money, hiring an army of technicians, and writing a cohesive story that spans 6 films and 30 years, just for a few hack arm-chair wannabe film critics whose sole accomplishment in life is breathing on their own, can bash my films like petty bastards because they are jealous?? Fuckin- A I would.

At the end of the day, people are entitled to their opinions. You can't change that. You may love ALL of Star Wars, but there are clearly thousands who don't. They are as entitled to register on a free message board and vent their repetitive, tedious, moronic, monotonous spleen as you. It's not like you have to read it - take the rough with the smooth my old padawan.

It's not necessarily an attack on George Lucas when people point out things like dodgy lightsabers. It’s just a little disappointing that so much good work has been done, only for a few silly little things to slip by (whoever the blame lies with). Personally I’m going to reserve final judgement until I see the discs for myself, but so far it looks as though the good far outweighs the bad.

Klown-you fucking rule, man. Mad props. And I'm not requesting, but if you're really taking suggestions on things to rip, howsabout the lightsaber doc?

TheKenobi-
with you 100% these films are for GL, his children, and the TRUE fans. Not for whiny nerds who for some reason feel the need to spend thier own time and energy ragging on something someone else has done. Once these nitpicking assholes CREATE something of thier own, they can tear that apart all they want.

JeedaiProphet , your avatar owns. :heavymetal:

"The Kenobi" will own Revenge of the Sith.
I apologize if advertising or plugging isn't allowed in the forums but, hey, it's Star wars related and that aint bad!
For Obi-Wan fans come visit " The Shrine of The Kenobi " forum at StarWars.com in the miscellaneous section. All are most welcome.
We have to spread the love and get ready for the big fight with Anakin next May.

Star Wars owns you. :heavymetal:

Since there are so many "fans" bitching about the changes, I have the original trilogy laserdiscs from 1995 that I have NEVER OPENED that I'd be willing to sell before I put them on ebay. Any takers? There still in the plastic and have the price tag.

I will be watching my beloved films on DVD with the new improvements.

There is an original tv spot for all three films! I remember the last two specifically..used to have the Jedi spot on VHS, tape didn't make it through the years though. Very cool.

Thats just the thing CRS, it is a VERY vocal minority. Same thing with Prequel trilogy bashers. Everyone I know LOVES the Prequel trilogy. The media plays a certain tangible part in Star Wars hating too.
The prequel trilogy has been a resounding success for Mr. Lucas, otherwise he wouldnt be investing millions of his own dollars funding them The problem is, those of us who LOVE Star Wars havent been loud enough. Well, thats changing my friends.
Oh and....alot of people aren't considering something.....there is an ARMY of silent 7,8 and 9 year olds sitting back loving on the films.... just wait 10 years. Prequel bashers will be viewed as we view hippy 50 year old stoners......as fucking SAD.
