I gotta say I just showed the new Jabba and Greedo to some friends I class as Star Wars fans (not rabid like us, but ones who are stoked for the DVDs!!) and they didnt notice any differences!! I think in the end we wil be the ones in the minority who actually notice these things and most people will be hard pushed to note what has changed if anything! but that does mean that they have a done a good job as it doesnt stand out to a casual observer!

If you can break into your local Walmarts back room they have the DVDs in place or if you know any dishonest employees supply them with porn or crack and the set is yours!

What were those things on the right of the display? Special action figures or something?

Because, Fatboy, they're gonna manufacture all the millions of DVDs on late at night on September 20th and have all the Walmart stockpeople load 'em into the empty boxes by hand. ;)

Because everything we've seen has been works in progress. :whateva:

This thread was split from the DF thread.

http://www.yakface.com/2004product/walmart/walmartdvd2.JPG

a) There are fucking action figures in those boxes.

b) Raith Sienar said the DVDs were done when those original screenshots leaked of Hayden in ROTJ on AICN and The New Emperor by TBo's friend Darth_Blight0925/Relentless.

c) mcdermd/Dr Gonzo and Klownicle said the ROTJ DVDrip and DVDR were the finished retail versions. The group MaStErS released both ROTJ and ESB. Who's gonna step up and dispute these cats?

d) DarthFirst said he got the box set and PROMPTLY posted screenshots and audio clips on demand.

e) Every season is Spoiler Season at MF :heavymetal:

What is that, a challenge? Even if it isn't, some follicledick will be along soon enough to answer it anyway.

people were disputing this on other boards saying that stores don't keep big displays in the back full of merchandise like that but i worked at wal-mart for a very short time (a week) and they do indeed have large displays shrink-wrapped with the merchandise inside.

So why is the WIP theory dead?

Of course the films are finished and replicated, it still doesn't change the fact that we don't know when the source DVD was made.

But if Klownicle says it's the final thing... then... I... admit... defeat...
Klownicle is in the know.

Poor sabers :(

Why would they be empty?

Because they haven't received the actual DVD's yet ?

How fucking unwitty.

Don't attribute that shit to me...I've NEVER said they were a WIP...all I'm saying is that the actual DVD discs probably weren't in the display...yet.

First we've got people claiming the stuff that leaked has to be faked because if it was real, why aren't the boxes scanned? Now we have people saying these are nothing but empty boxes. Anyone else see how contradictory that is? First all you want are pictures of the boxes and covers. Now we have pictures of the boxes and covers, and people wanna say there's NOTHING in them.

People are fucking mental.

Emp, that's probably not your fault, I doubt you've had to endure the indignity and hell of having to work retail

Oh I have endured it...I now endure Customer Service and THAT is just as fucking bad !

:D

I concede to the Walmart cases not being empty...I certanly wasn't trying to add to the `these leaks ain't the finsihed versions` though !

Fatboy you nailed it. The only thing I can think of is that whatever Wal-Mart those were taken at placed those toys in the display so they could use the display in order to hype up the release. Not that any hype is needed, all people will need to hear is when its coming out. That will be more than enough to sell massive copies.

Just 2 cents from a fellow Circuit City slave. :chewbacca:

at wal-mart, in the back, there were whole kiosks with the dvd's inside shrink wrapped and shipped that way.
i unloaded them off the truck.
all they do is go by their schedule, cut of the plastic wrap and wheel them out onto the store floor.

i worked there for a week and quit because the work is hard and the pay is non-existent. plus they were denying overtime pay to employees (which is illegal) and were later sued for it. that's why the product is so cheap because they don't pay the workers jack-shit.

I worked at Wal-Mart for about a month as an unloader and I really never saw DVDs. I don't think they came on the same truck, they were handeled differantly, I think.

But I am 99.9% sure they wouldn't ship empty boxes! Even if they did, retailers don't have the machinary to shrink-wrap DVDs and put those UPC tag stickers on the top of the case...

I am not saying the DVDs are sitting in the back NOW...I'd think they would be shipped about a week in advance, not a month...but they will be around before the 21st for sure.

I work at walmart now. and i work in electronics.

We have not gotten our shipment of the DVDs yet. we usually get them one week before.

And i think they come via UPS or somethings come in our nightly trucks(usually). The claims people then scan it. and they wrap it in scrink wrap and put it up in the steel(big steel framing).

Any who. most walmarts shouldnt have there shipment yet and will prolly get then around the 14th by my estimates.

And no, there is no way id beable to take a copy, cuz i dont want to lose my job :D

The first set has hit ebay. Those boxes in that Wal-Mart picture probably had DVD's in them. Thought that might help.

That's what I'm saying. People were questioning it. Now you have more proof there was shit inside them.

Interesting how Mr. "Can Ship Today" has set a closing date of the evening of the 15th, though. Even shipping by next day air (which costs $20.00 and is apparently the only way he'll ship), the soonest you'd get them is the 17th. Is it worth whatever astronomical eBay price this goes for to get an already-opened package only 4 days early? I think not -- it's not like these things are going to be hard to find, after all...

Oh yeah, I wouldn't recommend anyone actually buying it. I mean, this is just more evidence that an NTSC set will hit the internet before it hits stores (even more reason to wait to buy them at a cheaper price). I've already bought the set myself, but I hope to preview the whole set before it hits the stores. If that set had been up on Ebay last month, I could see buying it (to feel special and loved). At this point, it's only a few weeks away and not worth the dishing out the extra cash for.

I posted that in this thread because people were suggesting that the display was a mockup or something. That auction shows that at this point in time there is no reason for Wal-Mart to have recieved a mockup when some people are claiming to have recieved them early do to shipping errors.

I said probably because I have no fucking idea what's in those boxes. I believed the DVD's were in the boxes the whole time. I was pointing out that the folks that thought they were mockups were probably wrong. I was trying to contribute a bit to the "facts" of the topic.

Well i just got off work.

We have no copy of the DVDS anywhere yet.
And i talked to our lead truck crew guy. DVD shippers(big carbord displays) dont come on the truck. UPS sends them. usually 3-7 days before release.

And if you get caught selling. or taking a copy of any dvd before release, you will be fired.

Damn, dude -- shitty pay and no perks. I hope at least that your store has a few of those "Women of Wal-mart" that showed up in Playboy.

I worked for Kay-Bee Toys when the Episode 1 toys came out (I actually managed the Episode 1 Kiosk). I remember in April, we had an inspector that came in to make sure that we didn't sell anything. I wouldn't be suprised if they did those kinds of checks for this DVD set.
