I'll post a dozen or so Obi/Vader caps over the weekend so you can get a better idea. But it's the same fight (or appears to be to me, maybe some subtle edits but I can't be arsed comparing) with enhanced saber FX.

Will also post Dianoga.

Wrath there's a rip of Jedi doing the rounds so there's not much point me grabbing caps from that, better to concentrate on what's not around yet.

I've been reading this thread, but forgot to ask:

Is the Death Star countdown fixed?

I'd be happy to post screen caps. Forgive my ignorance, but how do I get them then post them? I have the dvd rip of jedi.
I'm sure Faid will walk me thru this one.

Try downloading Media Player Classic

http://www.divx-digest.com/software/media_player_classic.html

That's what I use to play almost all of my files. It has a "Save Screenshot" option under the "File" menu.

Krados - no, this shot is not in the film.

Like I've said, most changes in these films with the exception of the 3 majors (Jabba, Ian & Hayden) are cosmetic.

ANH changes I've noticed are:

- lightsaber fixes in most (but not all) shots
- Jabba replaced with TPM version, much better but still not quite right
- removal of matte boxes etc
- subtle tweaks of backgrounds (ie Death Star corridor), minor CGI fixes (eg Dianoga)
- tweaked sound mix

There is no Senate scene, no Yoda scene, no new scenes at all. The film is very much as it always was, just spruced up a littlle.

cheers
DF

You could very easily use the PM system and keep the tech crap out of this thread.

I don't understand the question - still in english??? As opposed to what, French?

Do you mean the "twenty seconds and counting" thing?
(In which case yes it's the same)

Tarkin is looking at a clock with human style numbers counting down of the death satr clearing the planet. It was also always out of order like the time would jump around. I know its nitpicky but what is it like now?
Man we need rips of ANH and ESB

The Death Star countdown is the same.
There is NO trailer for Revenge Of The Sith.

By the way I'll post some more Hayden-in-Vader suit pics over the weekend as requested by DP and others.

Actually, having said that, there may be some kind of online ROTS trailer, but I'm not prepared to use the DVD ROM content on this disc this early on; they may be able to trace my ISP etc

By having the trailer online, they will sell a few more sets. I don't know how many, but a few. I think the DVD-link is a sure bet. It does kind of undermine Hyperspace though.

by the way, several people have been PMing me about the ROTJ rip. This did not come from me - it's from a completely different source. I haven't downloaded/uploaded or ripped anything, I have the physical discs.

I highly doubt they would have any sort of page setup at the moment.

I just watched ROTJ and here's the things that grab me the most:

The level of detail your eyes pick up now is completely staggering.
It just goes to show just how much work those guys put into the OT films.

The colors are so vivid it's like watching a moving oil painting.
I never realized how much damage color wise VHS did to these films.

Vader's saber does look crappy, but I've got a strong feeling that these are not the final prints of the film. I know you say they are Darth First, but I'm gonna hold some faith that those effects get fixed because it's too obvious of a flaw to let slip by.

Also, the end credits say 1997 at the end and have the THX theatre alignment ad at the end and I would think they would change that for this version since it is NOT the same as the 97 version. Also, I'm sure Lowry's would get a credit in there for all their hard work.

You guys are gonna be completely blown away on Sept. 21st!
That's all I need to say on it.

I'm surprised that noone asked this before... So I'll ask the question now:

Have the bluescreen effects in the Emperor's throne room been improved?

I'm talking about the stars that can be seen through the room's windows.
There were several shots where the windows where blurry because of
camera focus while the stars stayed crystal clear.

The windows are still blurry and the stars still sharp.

To those with ANH. There is a shot about 25 mins in of a droid being pulled along by a cord just as 3PO says "pardon me sir, but couldn't we go after him". And Luke says "It's too dangerous with all the sand people we'll have to wait until morning". Has the cord been removed?

looks fine on TV, it always was dark though. the fact that i'm saving these as jpegs and therefore getting a lot of compression probably isn't helping.

I have some picture requests for some senes I want to see if the picture quality was better than in the SE.

DarthFirst, can you please:

-make a shot of the Death Star approaching Alderaan. That shot was always really grainy, and I wonder if the have spiced up the picture quality there.
-show a picture of the main weapon of the Death Star in ANH firing. I always thought that the eight beams which form the big green beam were a bit too thin, and thin picture also was grainy.
-When the Falcon was hurled into the hangar, there was a small black stripe under it, that cut the white glow from the atmosphere shield in two. (That was the pole holding the model) Is that gone?
-When the hall with the elevator and the shaft was shown from above in ANH (where Han, Luke and Chewie wait for the elevator to detention block), it was really bad quality. Is that fixed? A picture would be good.

varies from shot to shot. Like I said earlier, there's little consistency with the sabers across all three movies. But it ain't changin' so don't stress about it.

That's because they are MOVING. Not every cap is a shot of a perfectly stationary saber.

Also, different region most likely. The OS one looks like a region 1 disc, while First's looks like the European counterpart.

Wouldn't surprise me if someone from Lucasfilm is actually the one who leaked the rips. Perhaps these aren't even close to what's actually going to be on the retail DVDs?

Hey, a little wishful thinking never hurt anyone...

Something I've noticed in that shot of Coruscant. There is virtually NO air traffic. After seeing Coruscant in the PT so alive with speeders, air ships, etc. The city now almost looks desolate. Does Palpatine ban peronal transportation under his rule?

Darth, like I said before I'm 90% sure that your DVDs are the ones we'll get in September. However I was wondering if you had a explaination about the 97 copyright and the wrong credit for the Emperor.

Do you really think it matters that it says it is copyrighted 1997, that is something that we really shouldn't care about, seeing as its in the credits at the very end where most people never see it. Its just something that a rushed team can easily overlook. First post BTW.

The only way to tell all the different versions apart is by their year of copyright/release.

1977 - original
1997 - SE
2004 - DVD
