The Emperor looks like a French guy named Maurice who sells balloons.

i would imagine he will lok exactly like this as they "probably" shot it at the same time, like i said when i 1st saw the pic ages ago when i thought it was fake  it looks like the emperor if u lower the brightness/contrast bt where are his eyebrow bumps? maybe it looks better in motion

The chins definitely change between ESB and ROTJ.

Maybe he tried to stem the tide with a little plastic surgery.

Looks like he had a Botox backfire and got it fixed by ROTJ

The new emperor is way better then what we had.

BUT it still looks like crap.

Maybe it will look beter im motion. THey should have darked it up if they where not going to match it right.

OOOO WEELLL

"We're wanted men. I have a license to do plastic surgery on twelve systems."

God forbid the guy that really needs it is the only one who can perform it.
Then again, in his mind, botched surgery is better than good surgery.

It's odd how the sides of the hood are all wrinkled, as opposed to TMP, AOTC, and ROTJ.

Are both of them from the 2004 DVDs?!

It's a screen cap, I will wait until I see it in motion until giving my any of my thoughts.

No matter how imperfect this may be I must say that it's looking alot better than the original scene, only it shouldn't look so clean, it should look dirtier.

Y'know, this adds more credence to Fatboy's post about the lightsabres. Perhaps through the reasons he's given all the DVD rips appear brighter than they actually are, hence all the complaints about Palps being too bright.

but when you do the saber trick you brighten not darken

the Emp still looks better when the saber effect is done.. but i think it would have been better for them to make him darker

Ah shit, yeah. My brain's tired. Doesn't matter to me though, to be honest, it's Ian in the scene and that matters more, personally.

Good comparison... but you still need to adjust for the 16X9 anamorphosis, like this:

(I screwed around with the saturation, luminosity, and hue on both of them as well.)

Don't be too hasty to judge the scene change based on one screen grab.

No, I mean the original screencaps from the DVD. They were in the first post but are gone now.

I took the originals, cropped out the black lines and re-sized them to the correct aspect ratio:

It's not altered, watch ROTJ again, specifically the shots just before and after "So be it, Jedi" and before the Force lightning attack.

On one hand it's no longer a woman and a monkey.
But on the other hand, it doesn't look like Ian.

So we got a crappy looking emperor. A pink Vader lightsaber. And Hayden at the end of ROTJ.

Greedo still shoots first right? Oh good, thank god. At least the retardation is consistant.

Looks enough like Ian to me. I think the key element in the Emperor is the voice. Sure the new thing looks a bit (but not much) different from ROTJ Emperor but once we see the scene and hear Ian delivering the lines, I believe it will "click" right away. Besides, we´ve seen only captures of the scene, we need to see the make-up in motion to give the final judgement.

I´m very happy the change has been made. Clive Revill was a brilliant actor but his vocal performance didn´t convey the immense evil of the Emperor, he rather sounded somewhat pleasant. In total, the Emperor seemed quite docile in the original scene.
