This pic is from the Steve Sansweet presentation at the Jedi Con in Duesseldorf, Germany. His presentation ended with a collage of pics from the whole saga.

And the Darth Vader picture was the last. As this pic appeared Steve Sansweet said "We have you now."

So is this a pic of Darth Vader from Episode III? I have never seen such a Darth Vader pic before..

The background in this pic is the same like in the others PT publicity photos

Doubtful. First off, I don't see any reason why mechanical Vader would be in a pose like that, lightsaber ignited, at the very end of the movie. Second, the "We have you now" quote is probably just a play on Vader's "I have you now" to Luke in the Death Star attack in ANH.

It looks more like a painting than an actual picture anyway.

To me it really looks like it could have come from the same promo shoot as the pic on the back of the original Star Wars Storybook (yes, I still have mine!).

There are a lot of poses of the characters in the publicity photos which does not appear in the movie.

The quality of the pic is very bad, because it´s actually a screenshot from a videotape. I assume that they/or someone else have recorded the presentetion with a camera....

This design has more tunic qualities, it's pretty cool.
Look at the cool drapes covering his thighs.
Wonder if it's old or new.

If the pic is really Vader in Episode III or not, thanks for the hookup Starkiller.

His cape is extended in an odd fashion. What is holding it up?

My 2cents: I think it's a pic from Ep3, either production art or a bad copy of a promo photo of Hayden as Vader. The logic I'm using is this: somehow I don't think Steve would show an old pic at the con when there's an opportunity to show a new pic of Vader with Ep3 'round the distant corner.

Also, they might be immitating the upward camera angle of the classic old Vader pic of '77.

Its definitely not from ANH because the surcoat is underneath the armor.

Also, the side boxes on either side of the belt are MUCH further apart than they appear in any of the films...although ROTJ's were furthest apart...so it would have to be from ROTJ if its an OT promo shot.

The chest box also does not appear to be as bulky as the OT chest box...something that can be seen in the back in black video.

they did say that they were not gonna hold back on using vaders images in the promotion of ep3!
there is a list of steve sansweets forthcoming presentations on the official site, anyone live near and have a decent dvcam heh heh heh! i would go but he doesnt seem to do any UK visits :(
my 2p's worth is that i think its new, i have trawled through vader pics like u wouldnt beleive! though i bet there are a few million we will never see that lfl have in the archives so in theory they could pull out a new shot at any time! i have only ever come across the one in my sig once!

Heh...well Vader is still fresh in my mind because I just helped my friend put together a Vader costume. The next project: everyone's two favorite droids...

They are not 100% sure is it from Ep3 and they have no clue from what scene it could be... or something like that.

It is a promo shot from the JediCon Sansweet presentation. Steve said that LFL would be using Vader alot to promote Ep3. Not from the film, but a promo shot rather.

I think it may be from the ILM pre-production art department. Based on the dramatic pose, and flaired out cape there is no way it would be a storyboard shot intended for the movie. What we know of spoilers, there is no place in the movie for a scene where Vader would strike this sort of pose. Also, I do not think it is a pic from the OT either, based on the way the lightsaber is colored, it is more vibrant and red throughout the blade, like they are colored in AOTC.

This pic may be for advertising only, just like the poster for ROTJ, where we see Luke's hands holding up a blue Lightsaber, even though his saber was not blue in the movie, and he never held his saber up in a sign of victory to signify that the Jedi are back.

I still think it's an Ep3 pic and my opinion is that they moved the 'control boxes' on his belt further apart for the Ep3 version costume in order to mirror the food/whatever packs on the Jedi belts.

Peacers,

Take a look at the codpiece - it has an indentation in the middle of it... the "new" picture shows the indentation on the piece to be square, whilst on the old Vader pic the indentation has rounded edges. Can someone find out if the Vader suit from each OT film has the rounded edges version? If that's the case, then this is definitely a new suit.

...And we've reached a new low.

Wait- I've assembled a top team of codpieace specialists consisting of an armorer, a diehard Star Wars fan, and a gay accordian player who makes money on trains. This panel of experts should be able to provide the critical evidence that can crack the case of the codpiece in question.

This just in: In a surprising turn of events, the codpiece could provide the important clue needed to help identify the origin of the picture. We have Dick Moberg standing by in Brussels with this latest development. Dick? :chewbacca:

The real need for different codpieces.

How is the difference in the cod piece any more ridiculous than your post about belt buckles, Benovite?

You're right, LS and props to you for pointing that out. I guess it's just the idea of closely examining Vader's crotch that provoked my response. By law I had to run with it.

Guys stop!

You're spoiling me with all this talk of "codpieces" and "belt buckles".

Personally, I'm hoping for Vader to wear a spandex body hugging black suit with a massive DD symbol on his chest replacing his breathing apparatus.

Did anyone notice on the official site the vader chestplate. They just put up a new story about mousy, she is standing next to what looks to be the ep3 vader... thoughts?

Just thought I'd bring some closure to this thread, or at least confirmation. The pic of Vader that Sansweet showed way back in Germany was indeed a pic of Ep3 Vader. The control boxes, specifically their position on the sides of his belt, are the dead giveaway. The undercloack, or whatever you call it, is also very similar.
