I've been spending the last two days checking this stuff out, and it's very exciting. The movie looks beautiful, and so far I really like the changes. I would just ike to know whether or not the dialogue between Luke and Leia on Endor has changed?

If ya did it via irc, you have these +'s.

1. Dont' have to share back, which in case if your on cable or anything slower hogs your line slowing your download.
2. Quicker download.
3. If your nice you dont' have to wait in line like the people that asked me nicely didn't have to :-p. And you don't have much luck getting the full dvdr on bt either :-p.

I'm at 55% with 9 hrs to go on the torrent, its been very slow.

I downloaded the whole thing off the newsgroups very quickly, but every rar was corrupted, and the PARs did nothing (they were corrupt too, i think).

I dunno why I'm dling anything now anyway, since I should be waiting for the DVD-R version instead...

for everyone who has seen the ROTJ Rip,..have all th ematte lines and garbage mattes (white squares around ships) been clenaed up?

Because the sabers for the luke/vader duel look untouched or even crappier than before, and the hayden ghost looks like an intern's rush job.

I already have the first CD. I think the second one will be downloaded tomorrow...

Well not counting the crystal clear imagery, improved sound, Hayden added at the ending Force Ghost scene, Naboo with Jar Jars on the rooftops inserted into the ending planet celebration montage, then yes nothing was really changed.

ok, the changes that we have noticed so far, nowhere near a complete list!.......

*most matte lines are improved (hair on the skiff) or gone completely(rancor), most ofthe spaceship ones are only now really visible if u watch frame by frame

*vaders saber changes colour throughout the fnal saber battle

*the whole film has been colour corrected and digitally cleaned up (looks like it was shot yesterday) ulra fine details are now present (see the reqctor core detail)

*when anakin is unmasked his face has been "improved", no more eyebrows and it looks more "real" eye make up reduced scars softened all subtle improvements that some may not notice! including my friends who have seen this 100+times!

*the end celebrations now include a shot of theed with gungans on top of the towers a jar jar like voice can be heard proclaiming "wesa free!" the tatooine shot has colour corrected and the colours are much more vibrant and in keepin with episode 1 tatooine, the shot of coruscant now has the jedi temple and senate buildings added to the background

*the soundtrack has been remastered in dolby 5.1EX and now truly takes advantage of the rear center speakers (check out the attack on the core and speederbikes to be blown away!)

*sebastian shaw has been replaced by the episode 3 version of anakin as a force spirit joining yoda and ob1

*when bens force spirit startles luke on dagobah luke now says "fucking hell, u scared the shit out of me"

anything else i missed (i know there are loads!) im watching it again 2mrw ill make notes next time!

Any improvement in the mattes around the speeder bikes,..and the rods holding them up?

I'll wait for the hi-def hdtv with dolby digital 5.1 surround sound DVD. But only because I don't have a DVD burner. Why spoil myself now in low quality when I can wait a month and get it in "coal" quality?

cant say i have noticed the rods! but i do beleive there are now no truly visible matte lines for the speeders (not including going thru frame by frame as they may be visible there) even on the fast shots, they have cleaned this up so much it now looks like they are chromakeyed in more so than 83 but still is amazing, they may have smoothed some of the motion of the speeders though it may be my mind playing tricks!




as he walks towards the falcon he walks into the shadows becoming a silhouette but he doesnt throw any shadows onto the bigass painting if thats what u mean! and boy does the clean up make it evem more noticeable that it is a painting! they could have added some interactive elements somehere even if its just a light blinking or someting!!

UPDATE just checked the SE's and the voice in that scene is the same on both versions! any other trooper dialogue anyone can think of?

Has the scene where Han unfreezes from the carbonite been changed? I always thought the effects were wierd there.

The part where they hold up Threepio right before the Ewoks ambush them. "Freeze! Don't move." I think that's it for Stormtrooper dialogue in ROTJ.

When 3PO is flying in the chair, in the Ewok village scene, can you still see the wires lifting him. I can see them in the 1995 Laser Disc version, was this changed in the 97 version? If not, is it now been changed for the DVD release?

Wait wait, the old Anakin is gone as a Ghost! Does this my make vintage Ghost Anakin a non-Star Wars figure?? OR a EU figure?

it doesn't change it at all, it's simply a figure from the 1983 release of ROTJ, compared to the 2004 release...

I would think the change makes all the ROTJ Anakin figures worth mucho $.

So far, apart from maybe the new Anakin ghost, the changes we've seen don't seem as controversial as the SE ones. Boba Fett's "extended" role, poor CG Jabba, that awful Joe Cocker alien at Jabba's court, Greedo shooting first, they were all met with angry bewilderment.

You'd think that after the prequels, Lucas'd go crazy editing all sorts of stuff in.

That was a cool Anakin doll too. He almost looks like had he not turned to the dark side he would have been this super clean old Jedi man probably kicking ass as the Chosen One, bringing the Jedi with him into a new era of enlightenment.

After seeing the footage, I think this HAS to be a work in progress, and not the final version. The Vader saber is NOT EVEN CLOSE to any of the other movies, PT or OT, why would that be?

Also the Hayden at the end looks rushed. I'm not saying it's not going to all be there, it just seems..... unfinished, unpolished, un proofed.

Maybe that's why this version's out on the internet, it's not the finished version.

It's much more likely that this is one of the foreign language check discs that were supposedly sent out a while ago to have bi-lingual natives check the subtitles for accuracy. That would account for the finished look of 98% of the film with room to spare for touchups in the months leading up to a mass disc pressing.

Some guy named Darth First at JCN claims he has all four discs now.



He says he'll have proof in 6 hours. I actually did think this guy was legit I just didn't appreciate the ol' "proof later".

If true, Luke not screaming during his fall would be a huge plus. But the business with the lightsabers is a noggin scratcher. Seems strange to fix them in one scene but not another and the color inconsistency is weird too.

Let me make a reference to the nfo file

The dvd+r is in the channel, everyone can see how RETAIL it is. This is how it is, deal with it.

The fact that this is a retail version not a pre release "screener".
