You have to search for Star.Wars.Trilogie.Classique.-.Bande.Annonce.Edition.DVD.Exclusive.Annees.Lazer

There are even more changes. Lightsabers are redone... Though one shot from ROTJ looks like crap, but see it for yourself.

I'm just spliting that French trailer to 4 rar files so I can upload it (account doesn't accept over 50Mb files).

Edit;

And here we go:

http://koti.mbnet.fi/dukeirot/ep3/dvd-t ... .part1.rar (49Mb)
http://koti.mbnet.fi/dukeirot/ep3/dvd-t ... .part2.rar (49Mb)
http://koti.mbnet.fi/dukeirot/ep3/dvd-t ... .part3.rar (49Mb)
http://koti.mbnet.fi/dukeirot/ep3/dvd-t ... .part4.rar (45.7Mb)

As I am sad ... I have done a frame by frame analysis of the French Trailer

I would say the saber and laser differences are due to the loss of frames in the conversion of the DVD to the file to the .VOB file. Actual DVD file would be bigger file size and if frame by frame there are interpolated frames that are inherent from the type of down-sampled encoding used.

In terms of sabers/laser bolts they move so fast that to miss a frame one can actually miss quite also. There are still a few dodgy matte lines here and there but they are only visible when u look at each frame! at the moment i cant wait for each millisecond of new footage! I hope some UK mags stick the trailer on a DVD too! For TPM annees later was the only one who got the DVD trailer :(

All that said the Emperor Saber Clash still looks weird but the French have said it looks normal on the actual disc whilst viewed on a normal TV!

I like that Death Star cell bay change, it's a nice subtle improvement. That just goes to show there's probably more similar changes or fixes on all the movies that may go unnoticed if you're not paying attention. :heavymetal:

Duke, you rule.

But wait, what's with Luke's tiny little hands on the ROTJ cover? And why are the X-Wings on ANH missing their red paint accents? And Vader's thicknecked mask on ESB?

And who forgot to tell LFL that Lens Flares are STILL VERY GHEY?

I guess they're hiring kids straight out of 2-year Art Schools again...

Yeah, I mean look at the lasers coming out of their cannons, all overlapping and shit... :?

edit: Actually, rather than blaming the (apparently) new cover artists, I should fault the lazy art directors on this thing for letting that slide. They should know us better than that. We fans are all about the details.

Nope. They are the covers.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi will be available in a four-disc set that includes a bonus disc filled with all-new special features — including the most comprehensive feature-length documentary ever produced about the Star Wars saga and never-before-seen footage from the making of all three films. Each of the three films in the STAR WARS TRILOGY include the new extended editions that have been digitally restored and re-mastered by THX for superior sound and picture quality.

Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope
Part IV in a George Lucas epic, Star Wars: A New Hope opens with a rebel ship being boarded by the tyrannical Darth Vader. The plot then follows the life of a simple farmboy, Luke Skywalker, as he and his newly met allies (Han Solo, Chewbacca, Ben Kenobi, C-3PO, R2-D2) attempt to rescue a rebel leader, Princess Leia, from the clutches of the Empire. The conclusion is culminated as the Rebels, including Skywalker and flying ace Wedge Antilles make an attack on the Empires most powerful and ominous weapon, the Death Star.

Star Wars - Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
In George Lucas' spellbinding Star Wars sequel, the battle to save the galaxy from the evil Darth Vader rages on. Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Chewbacca are tested in a devastating attack by the Imperial army and it' AT-AT Walkers. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) seeks out the ancient Yoda to learn the secrets of the Jedi... secrets Luke will need when the Dark Side of the Force beckons him in a destiny-defining duel with Darth Vader.

Star Wars - Episode VI: The Return Of The Jedi
As the Emperor himself oversees the construction of the new Death Star by Lord Darth Vader and the evil Galactic Empire, smuggler Han Solo is rescued from the clutches of the gangster Jabba the Hutt by his friends, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Chewbacca. Leaving Skywalker Jedi training with Yoda, Solo returns to the Rebel Fleet to prepare for to complete his battle with the Empire itself. During the ensuing fighting the newly returned Skywalker is captured by Vader. Can the Rebels, and their new found friends, the Ewoks, help restore freedom to the Galaxy?

Yes can't say I have ever really looked at the covers much! Just go straight to the specs on the back to see if its in 5.1 or has DTS - me so sad!

At least we actually get covers, most boxed sets would just have them on the clear plastic fold out things like the ridiculous six foot Expendable Alien Quadrilogy! Has anyone actually read the back of anyone of the DVDs for all I know it says "Hi my name is George this is the first release of many many Star Wars Discs".

We have downloadable links now in .mpg (size: ~39mb) and divx format (size: ~28mb). In addition to Duke's .vob .rar links up there, that is.

These are taken from PAL packages:

Original Trilogy:
ANH: 1h 58min
TESB: 2h
ROTJ: 2h 4min

Special Edition:
ANH: 2h
TESB: 2h 2min
ROTJ: 2h 10min

DVD -trilogy:
ANH: 2h
TESB: 2h 4min
ROTJ: 2h 11min

So there seems to be 2 minutes extra in TESB and 1 minute in ROTJ. :)

The fuck?!

The thing is, those discs are in PAL format, which actually runs slightly faster than NTSC. So you need to first compare the DVD times tot he SE PAL running times.

For example, the Phantom Menace PAL DVD clocks in at 127 minutes, whereas the NTSC is 133 minutes.

So depending on where you got your run times, there may be even MORE added to ESB or ROTJ.

Those OT and SE running times are from Finnish (PAL) VHS packages and those DVD trilogy times are from Danish (PAL) DVD package.

Edit, I just got my press access to Finnish Importer's Press area and there are confirmed those lengths. :)

More extended Star War's CG tidbits here and there. I knew they were coming but its the reality of it that got me!

I was watching the German DVDr of Jedi last night (apparently taken from HDTV definitely the most fine detailed version I have ever seen!) and swear there were little extra bits in the end celebration. More Luke, Leia, Han Lando and Ewoks (only split seconds/different facial expressions etc and now totally feel the is the addition of Hayden it would totally work.

After all the comped pics of Hayden it seemed weird to see Shaw! That feeling was just weird!!) it would bring a resolve to the saga and tie it up puts flame proof jacket on nice and tight!

Anyone know if the godamn Leia firing a handgun sound effect in the ANH chasm scene will be reverted back to normal? Of all the SE changes this is the only one that really got me. Don't know the true reasoning behind it but would guess its an inside joke like the Willhelm or something! Don't get me started on the editing of the actual sound! Ben Burt must have been out taking a whiz whilst this was going on!

What I really want is the Imperial March in IV.

Anyways, there was a cut scene from ESB where the Wampas attacked Echo - maybe they're adding that back.

Ok. Even though we're all pretty certain that Ian McDiarmid is now Palps in ESB, I think the official site just added confirmation to this rumor.

They just announced the first exclusive figure for shopstarwars.com site. It's called Holographic Emperor.

Here's what the OS has to say about this figure:

Quote:
An essential character from Hasbro's Original Trilogy Collection will be available exclusively through StarWarsShop.com. The mastermind of the dark plot that consumes the galaxy, Emperor Palpatine is presented as seen in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back as an action figure for the very first time.

The ghastly visage of the twisted Emperor peers from beneath his heavy cowl as he contacts Darth Vader via hologram to inform him of a new threat. The Rebel that destroyed the Death Star is none other than the offspring of Anakin Skywalker. From this fateful communiqué, the Sith Lords concoct a new insidious scheme - they will corrupt Luke, and bring him to the dark side.

This new rendition of Emperor Palpatine is now cast in translucent plastic to simulate the ghostly hologram effect. Though only the upper body of the Emperor is seen during this broadcast, the entire figure has been molded, complete with a removable cane accessory to properly depict the character made famous by Ian McDiarmid.

Notice the references to as seen in ESB and the reference to Ian's portrayl of the character.

There is also a pic of the figure on the card from a distance; but, I can't make out what the screenshot from the movie is.

So, I read this as additional circumstancial evidence. I just hope we get the additional DNA evidence to convict Mr. Simpson... er, McDiarmid.

On further review... the image on the front of the card's bubble is defineately not from the original issue of ESB or the SE. It seems to be Palpatine/Sidious as portrayed by Ian. I don't think you can definatively see if it is an image of him from the prequel trilogy or if it is in fact a new image of ESB.

If it is from the new ESB, then his eyes are more hidden in shadow than the "leaked" picture we've all seen.

the insert pic on the packaging does look suspiciously like the one that has been doing the rounds! if u think of all the figures from the OT that are available, and the only 2 pics that have been floating around of the rumoured OT changes (new palps+hayden ghost) maybe the pics were for use on the mock up packaging of the "new" toys of palps and "hayden ghost" assuming the ghost "is in" hhmmm

Wasn't there a rumour a while back about an extended scene on Hoth showing the Imperial Landing craft for the AT-AT walkers being inserted into TESB? While it's by no means a confirmation of this, the image below's been quietly added to TOS in much the same way as the Emperor McDiarmid figure was last week.

Could be nothing important but the book appears to focus on things seen in the movies and is being timed to coincide with the DVD releases. Here's the thing anyway for your delectation: From starwars.com:

"The Empire employed Incom Y-85 Titan dropships to deploy the AT-AT walkers on Hoth."

I also dug the quote about Moff Panaka in the same article - a link to Amidal's Loyal bodyguard perhaps? Nice way of Lucas licensing to piss on Hugh Quarshie's legacy by turing his heroic captain into a bad guy. That'll teach you to bitch about Star Wars :D

Great find Elvis! I'd say that adds a lot of credibility to that rumor...
