To kick off MF.com's sexy new look we have a spy report from a old friend. The report was titled this way because even though the movies may have had major changes, they are still the movies, finally on DVD, after all is said and done.

http://www.millenniumfalcon.com

Episode IV: A New Hope DVD

• Light Sabers re-rendered for Vader versus Kenobi Death Star duel.

• Tractor Beam control now in Aurebesh.

• Han Solo versus Greedo scene slightly altered.

• Boba Fett still mugs camera.

• Jabba the Hutt re-rendered from Special Edition Jabba.

• Han Solo stepping on Hutt tail + the line "You're a wonderful human being" remains.

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

• The Emperor replaced with Ian McDiarmid.

• Dialogue in this scene has been slightly modified, indicating either that The Emperor knows it was Luke Skywalker who destroyed the Death Star, or that he is Vader's son.

Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

• Hayden Christensen has replaced Sebastian Shaw only in the Force Ghost ending scene.

• Naboo has been added to the final planetary celebration montage at the end of the movie. The shot is very similar to the helicopter shot of Theed in Episode I where AAT BattleDroid Tanks are moving up a Theed street towards the palace.

Original Trilogy Bonus Materials Extras

• Episode III Vader "making of" featurette.

• Easter Egg: Warwick Davis short film of Wickett the Ewok fighting Boba Fett on the Death Star II, shot as a gag during the filming of Return of the Jedi.

I had a dream
Oh, yeah
Crazy dream, uh-huh.
Anything I wanted to know
Any place I needed to go

Hear my song
Yeah...people don’t you listen now? sing along!
Oh, you don’t know what you’re missing now.
Any little song that you know
Everything that’s small has to grow.
And it has to grow!
Push push, yeah!

California sunlight, sweet calcutta rain
Honolulu starbright--the song remains the same. ooh! ooh!
Here we go!

Honolulu now...
Sing out hare hare, dance the hoochie koo.
City lights are oh so bright, as we go sliding
Sliding
Sliding through.

I don't know..
It reads as if it's fanfiction, or at least part's of it.
Things I highly doubt:
-TractorBeam control now in Aurebesh. -> Pablo said in a diary they wrote the controls on the OT set in arial. So why now changing it in the OT to Aurabesh?

- Ep III Teaser Trailer? Really? Would be cool, but doubtful.

- I know Return of the Ewok, but I have never heard of this other short film.

- Ep 1 Yoda replaced with a CGI version? I really believed they would do this, but not so soon...

I just put up what the source wrote up.

If you believe those leaked hayden/jedi & new emperoor screen caps, then you should believe this. Yes, the teaser trailer thing sounds doubtful but I was thinking Raith could have been confusing teaser trailer with another documentary or another featurette.

I believe those screen caps, yes ;)

Regarding the teaser: It could be something in the style of the Ep II Teaser "Choices", that was available at dvd.starwars.com

Could you provide a link and/or quote of that?

Btw, is the Ep 1 DVD re-release supossed to occur around the same time the OT DVDs come out?

That would actually be pretty cool if Dooku was in TPM. It's not absolutely nessecary, but I guess I would go to my old padawans funeral too. Maybe they'd show him standing behind Palpatine in that pan shot right after Mace and Yoda talk of the two sith rule? That would be pretty cool.

I always thought the sabers in ESB looked the best of all the movies. ROTJ aren't too bad except for a few shots in the duel where the blades look really fat.

On the subject of the new ESB Emperor scene, didn't someone already post the supposed new dialogue line? Maybe it was in the other DVD thread, it was something like, "We have a new enemy, Luke Skywalker, the one who destroyed the Death Star".

I'm also glad they're replacing the Yoda puppet in TPM, that will be an improvement. AOTC could use some changes too but I'm not sure what GL would have in mind for it.

The only change I can think of Lucas doing for AOTC is making the IMAX cut of the movie available on DVD.

The PT re-release will more than likely be during the Episode III roll-out. My sneaky suspicion is that you'll only be able to get the re-issues of I and II in a boxset with III. you'll be able to get III separately, but if you want to get the re-releases of I and II, you'll have to buy the box set.

And they'll be "Platinum" colored too.

if they do finally rejig tpm+aotc this may be why the ot covers are silver so they will match the new PT covers in silver? or they were just used for asthetic purposes i.e matches the silver box on the ad!

These all seem to be changes for the better. Though I'm sure that when the SE were made, the idea of inserting Jabba back into ANH and a musical number into ROTJ seemed like good ideas also.

By the by-- if anyone is still looking for original, uncut high-quality fancopies of the OT send an email to: darth_chewbacca@hotmail.com

Well, we won't be getting official info for a while. Ron Epstein posted this at hometheaterforum:

ATTENTION

I attended the Star Wars Trilogy event
in New York City earlier today.

I have so much to tell all of you, but
unfortunately, everyone has signed an
agreement that all coverage of the many
Press Events being held are to be embargoed
until September 8th.

This means a few things....

We cannot post any details about the event
nor post any of the many pictures that were
taken.....

...or even about the special guest star in attendance!

No publication nor Internet web site can post
any pictures or news about the Press Events
being held in various locations. This is being
done so every site has a fair chance to get their
coverage up at the same time. If you see another
website posting information be sure to send us
an email about it.

On September 8th every Internet site
will be releasing their own coverage of what
was discussed at the Star Wars Trilogy
Press Events. We hope you will stop by HOME
THEATER FORUM first as it is our goal to give
you as much complete coverage as we can.

My apologies for leading many of you to believe
that a story would be posted on 6/23. Fox had
neglected to inform me at the time of invite that
there would be an embargo placed on the coverage.

Thank You for your patience

They held the conference now because the September issue of Maxim (for example) has to be finished and at the printers by the beginning of August.
Which gives them 5 weeks (end of June & July) to write all the terrible reviews of how LUCAS MADE GREEDO SHOOT FIRST.

Didn’t we hear somewhere that Lucas is pulling TPM and AOTC DVDs from stores soon?

Is this new TPM cut the reason?

This happened to me about a month ago wiyth my X2 DVD.

The hole is surrounded by a little circle of clear plastic which seems less tough than the harder surrounding plastic which has the artwork. I snapped off a good sized chunk of the clear plastic trying to snap it back into the case. I just bought a new one last week. So, I better go grab a TPM-DVD backup this weekend just to be safe.

Again, if you believe the leaked screencaps then you will believe this report, since the source is one and the same.

I just got done chatting with Raith he says there will be some sort of Episode III teaser trailer with the DVDs

I think it will just be the link back to dvd.starwars.com which will then put up the second teaser trailer for those that buy the OT-DVDs.

It will be just like it was with "Mystery" which we linked to through the TPM-DVD.

just tried my "dvd industry"guys but none of them went or know anyone who went to the fox event  though they did say that this one was only really for print mags and the "net" event is august(still too long to wait though! and they bet they wont get down to specifics like the whether the anh sabers were fixed (unless they do a q+a)

The bad news is my DVD source couldn't go to the event because of a schedule conflict. He/She will be attending a future one however.

The good news is that I'm hearing the time may be soon to make all of this press stuff irrelevant anyway. "Time is a pressing matter indeed." ;)

The only thing for sure is that TPM and AOTC are no longer being produced at this time.

Logically, their re-release could be next year around the same time ROTS comes out on DVD, but nothing has been determined officially.

I really haven't seen the Ewok movies since the early nineties when I was a little kid, and I seem to remember enjoying them then. Then again, maybe it was just the way you remember alot of the things from your early childhood fondly then go back to see them and realize how shallow and corny they are.

There are still more Star Wars DVDs coming out this year. Namely the Ewok and Clone Wars DVDs, that should more than well hold us until the final stretch if you enjoyed those in the first place.
