It's not 3-d, like the rebels had, it's on a flat screen.

You would think after seeing the film more than a couple dozen times I would recognize a frame of the movie, and that it is. I never noticed the Death Star appear back there, it lasts about 1 second.

I really hope so on the darkening the lenses....

I don't mind Hayden being the force ghost and understand Ziggy's thoughts exactly. This change will be a good one!

Everyone, "the source" asked for all of his posts to be removed from this thread and any other post that referred to him and I complied.

Ewok Pudu once asked to have something similiar done and I complied with his wishes as well.

They actually released a second dvd content TPM commentary 6 months after the first; however, I think they realized very few people continued to check that site for content, so they just blew their wad all at once with the AOTC stuff.

Frame Jumping? That's not the way it really is, dude. The problem is they cut the framerate to 10fps for this "web-friendly" version. That's what makes it "jumpy".

Which can be caused by converting from 24fps to 29.97fps, then to 10fps and getting field orders fucked up in the process. I've seen it happen in my own work.

It's all about the fact that they really didn't care about the quality on this one.

From footage and other pictures I have seen, this picture is real and the source to be legit.

The person who posted them is a fakir however, a Darth_Blight0925 who hoodwinked the pics out of the source and gave them to TBone and AICN.
http://www.galacticsenate.com/index.php ... ntry447373

The Emperor picture was originally posted at the JC by a "Relentless" which is a Darth_Blight0925 sock.

Someone remind me not to get on DP's bad side. ;)

Sorry he screwed his source, but I like the new ESB Palpatine look. I really think these little changes wil help mesh the PT with the OT.

Hopefully, once Episode 3 is released we'll just find ourselves calling these films the Saga rather than separating the trilogies.

For the record, Gabe is only hosting the image, not promoting Blight0925/Relentless. We only found out today that a) Relentless = Blight0925 and b) he is a leaker.

I think it's funny that the official labels

are along the same lines as the ones I made a couple of years ago for my four disc Definitive Collection DVD set (one for each film + a disc of supplemental features):

No. The Emperor is off of The Empire Strikes Back cover now. Lando and Yoda have been put in his place. Also, there are totally different Vader and Emperor pictures used on the Return of the Jedi case.

Gold Case = Full screen
Platinum Case (not silver) = Widescreen
Platinum > Gold

I little fixed Ktulu's "III" and added title used in Lucas' short description of Ep3 - Enter A Dark Lord from hmm.. 70's or 80's.

http://koti.mbnet.fi/dukeirot/saga-fake.jpg

Ktulu's background for DVD is pretty brilliant. Hopefully LFL will use something similiar in real version.

It doesn't really bother me. Besides, it's already been pointed out, but the fine prnt on that add says "artwork is subject to change."

This may not be the fina iteration of the design.

Either way, I care way more about what's on the discs than the packaging.

from the OS

"For those who like their DVD shelves tidy and uniform, the boxed set can be displayed in different ways. The inner box that slides out of the slip case can be placed so that box art faces outwards, or that the individual DVD spines face outward, to properly show the numerical indices of each Episode. Also, care has been taken that all the spines assembled work as a whole, so that your complete library of Episodes I-VI (including Episode III) will have a cohesive design, with prequel and original trilogy delineated by color"

as for the above saber pics, maybe mr.bezo is yanking our cranks ;)

No offense, but that supposed 'fixed' pic of the fight in ANH is a bad example of any alleged fixes. The original version isn't that bad, except for Vader's weak lightsaber effect that still looks weak in this new pic.

I wanna see this fucking shot fixed in a hi-res widescreen format screencap. Goddamit. :)

Danish is pretty close to Swedish but like I said, I suck in Swedish, but I think they are talking about that they have been able to see TESB.

Ian should be as Emperor and there has been some changes in some Star Destroyer scene (huh? what explosion? Edit: I reread it and they are talking about Ion Canon hitting Star Destroyer, so that shock effect has been redone) And there has been lot of smaller changes.

And they are also talking about Hayden being in ROTJ's The Force Ghosts scene.

And there should be 9 minutes and 7 seconds long Ep3 Preview in Bonus Materials.

A poster going by the name RESB-AM posted the following stuff at TFN in their DVD thread:

Quote:
http://boards.theforce.net/Classic_Tril ... 58333/p137
June 2nd

"Now, as a person who has actually seen some of the chapters on the upcomming "Empire Strikes Back" DVD, I can assure you that the disc is going to blow your collective minds.

It has been some time since I last saw the 1997 version myself, and therefore cannot comment on specific details appart from the fact that Ian McDiarmid is definitely in, and that his new scene is great. The other thing I do remember, is that the Ion Cannon explosion on the large spaceship in the Hoth sequence is now green and not red/yellow as ealier. I believe there were further smaller changes, but I am not completely sure if they were just old elements shined up as a result of the restoration.

The quality of the restoration itself is nothing short of breathtaking, and will beyond any doubt please even the most die hard of fans."

Quote:
http://boards.theforce.net/Classic_Tril ... 58333/p159

June 12th

"I have a further tidbit concerning the changes done to "Return of the Jedi".

I have just seen the DVD edition of "Return of the Jedi" and Sebastian Shaw has not been replaced by Hayden Christensen in the ghost scene at the end.

To those who wonder how I got to see the DVD I can say that I work for an overseas "Star Wars" fansite, and that we have recently been sent the "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" DVDs in order to ensure that the subtitles done for the films are correct before distribution."

Quote:
http://boards.theforce.net/Classic_Tril ... 58333/p167

June 15th

"It is quite interesting that so many on these boards claim to know how LFL conduct their buisness with their foreign contacts. Those who claim that we did not get the DVDs sent to us for purpose of veryfing that the subtitles are indeed written correctly and capture the right nuances of the laguage in question, simply do not know what they are talking about. I garantee you all that this is the procedure.

I am not interested in taking credit for any discovery of new/altered scenes, nor am I interested in leaking heaps of info, as I am not looking for any kind of fan-board fame. My agenda has been to chime in on the topics that seem to have resulted in the most heated debate, and clarify what is going on with the movies. As always - you are all free to belive me or not. I actually do not care about that."

Pretty much the same stuff the Danish site is now reporting. Don't know what to make of it all.

here is a translation of the danish site, though i would say it is from the same as the source above just translated backwards and forwards if u know what i mean!

There has been tampered with the classic trilogy!
Wednesday 2. June 2004

Starwars.nu has been fortunate enough to get an exclusive peek on the upcoming DVD release of The Empire Strikes Back. We did not see the whole film but skipped through the DVD and watched selected scenes. We can confirm that several things have been changed in relation to the VHS Special Edition from 1997. The greatest change is the scene in which Darth Vader talks to the hologrram of the Emperor. Now it is definately Ian McDiarmid acting as the Emperor's Hologram.

Another scene which is changed is the scene in which the rebels first fire the Ion cannon and hits a Star Destroyer. Here the ”explosionen” on the Star Destroyeren is EXTREMELY green, where it before was reddish-yellow. In all it seems like a lot of small things in the film has been changed/"improved". This might be because of the restoration or the computer monitor we watched it on.

We can also mention that the film has been restored so beautifully that you almost cry. The picture is razor sharp and looks like the film was made today. It is really amazing. Look forward to it.

Finally the Danish versions of the DVDs has been texted in the USA, So now R2's name is "R2" and not "Erto", as is the case on TV2 who uses the old captions.

Although the changes on ESB only are for the better, unles you are a dedicated purist, you can still fear/hope for the other two films. In A New Hope it will be exciting to see if clouds pass one of the suns on Tatooine, if they have improved the horrible CGI Jabba and if Greedo still shoots first.

With Return of the Jedi the big question is whether or not the spirit scene with Sebastian Shaw as Anakin has been replaced with Hayden Christensen.

UPDATED
Now Return of the Jedi has also come to Denmark and we can relax because Sebastian Shaw has not been replaced by Hayden Christensen in the Jedi Spirit scene. Like ESB also RotJ has been shined up to the point you lamost cry!
Now we just need to see what good old George has done with A New Hope!

Along with RotJ has the 4th disc with the bonus material arrived in DK. There is, amongst other things, a 9 minutes 7 seconds long preview for Episode III in which you can see Anakin in his Vader costume and also hos the crew from ILM molds a new Vader helmet. Great stuff!

Should we get lucky and get a peek at ANH you will be the first to know.

Just a though. It'll would surprise 99% of the fans, who now "know" that Hayden, is not at the end of ROTJ.

Then again old cats like... Carl/Mory/etc have said that he's there.

Who do we believe now?!?!

I'm dying though, to know what the hell is the "big" change in ANH. :?
