AICN (lol) reports a runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes. If so, TLJ would be the longest Star Wars film to date. Runner-up is AOTC at 2 hours and 22 minutes.

There's a lot to be said for something lean and mean, especially in film. But more Star Wars is more Star Wars.

I just hope that I'm caught up in the whirlwind of the film enough that I don't feel the more-than-usual length.

Thoughts?

Yep - I'm hoping Rian has done a top job.

I hope this guy is not in love with everything he shoots.

I'm getting that Chris "my movies go on forever" Nolan vibe.

Or that guy that directed Meet Joe Black.

The term "ponderous" comes to mind.

I'm not worried. Johnson's cut his teeth on films that have received considerable critical acclaim. If he was as over-indulgent as you conject, Kennedy would have weeded him out. As it stands, he's been entrusted with a big part of the future of this franchise. Not a trivial gesture. He's doing something significantly right and impressing the higher-ups. No ponderous, up-their-own-ass director would manage the same in this type of intensely delicate arena.

But then again, the proof will be in the pudding come December 14th. Not too far away! :)

Yep - I personally find Johnson’s films to be pretty tight. I don’t expect TLJ to feel like The Lord of the Rings or The Dark Knight Rises.

He says his first cut was well over three hours and says there will b a lot of deleted scenes on the Blu-ray.

Says there will be no extended version of the film.
