Prequel References:

We all know there are nods to the prequels in Maz' castle flags. What other nods does everyone see? or hear?

When Finn is looking for water I am sure I heard a vendor say the same thing we hear when Jar Jar steals a chuba. It sounds like "Atsatopaya" or something like that.

Force pikes are prequel.

Did anyone notice prequel aliens?

Kylo Ren discusses the merits of a clone army with Hux.

When Anakin's lightsaber calls out to Rey, the screams you hear could potentially be those of the younglings he killed in the Jedi Temple.

The idea of balance is from the prequels.

In the novel the guy who picks up Poe at Jakku mentioned not to be a Pod racer.

Thanks Kyle! That is an interesting article, but I think a few of them are sort of reaching. The senate, Phasma's armor, and "stolen at birth" seem to be arbitrary. I mean, how would I KNOW the armor was from Palpy's ship unless I were told? I suppose the fact that we have to try so hard to find these references means they really were downplayed as some media reported. But maybe we can find more! I still think Snoke must be JarJar ... so there's another big connection, lol.

I've only seen the film twice at this point, so I'm sure there are things that I've missed. However, you could say that C-3PO changing his parts is an idea borrowed from the prequels, if it is not strictly a prequel reference. In the original trilogy, C-3PO had one silver shinplate, but, as we all know, he was all gold except for the red arm for most of TFA. When the Resistance is celebrating their victory near the end of the film, he appears to be back to all gold like he was in Revenge of the Sith.
