Anthony Daniels talks smack about GL and the Prequels

In order of promoting Ep VII Mr. Anthony Daniels gave an interview to theguardian.com:

Highlights:

“The effects are clever but pointless. The skill is there, but so what? Coldness, that’s the word. Bleakness, even.”

“It became clear early on that with JJ we were getting back to the old-fashioned kind of film-making. We have walls. Actual sets! All right, so you might not have a view out of the window, but you have a window. Now, what else can I tell you?”

“George has changed a lot over the years but I think he finds it slightly hard to collaborate,” Daniels observes. “He made decisions that I believe might have been better discussed with other people. JJ is more collaborative. He likes to listen.”

He is one of the People who really should know better than this! So disappointing. But he is so full of himself and would sell his mother for that role.

Promoting Tipps for the other two Saga movies:
Promoting EP VIII: We do it the old fashioned way, the ships do hang on strings like it was in the good days of Movies!
Promotion EP IX: We dont do effects anymore! Everything u See is real. Spaceships actual fly!

This doesn't surprise me. Daniels has always been a catty little bitch; this isn't even the first time he's talked shit about the prequels.

Wasn't it Kenny Baker who once claimed that he's rude and difficult to work with?

Indeed Daniels always was and yeah, it was Mr. Baker!

They both attended Jedi-Con 2014 in Germany and Baker pointed out how less he cared for that guy.

I love 3PO but Daniels as a Person is one I can not stand at all.

Biting the Hand who fed him from 1977 to 2012. Son of a....

What I find odd about comments like that is that he did have somewhat of a theatre career before SW. And in theatre, you are trained to look at a black curtain and pretend it's a pizza, or a dog, or a car, or whatever. It's called ACTING.
Same goes for acting in front of a green screen while wearing an uncomfortable plastic and metal mask.

Not just from his but from all of Lucasfilm. But he was one of those actors whose scenes always had real sets, so the hipocrisy is strong with him.

The irony, of course, is that no one is calling Tony Daniels except Lucasfilm.

It's annoying when actors who were once on board with projects (Tony Daniels, Ryan Reynolds, Josh Trank) change their minds when it becomes popular to bash something. Tony cashed the check(s) from his time in front of a green screen, didn't he? I didn't hear him criticize George when he was sniffing his own farts during Sith's release. Remember his "George announces 'Star Wars is here' whenever I arrive on set" stories?

Prequel bashing is sometimes warranted, but the talent should remain professional, like Ewan McGregor, who's remained a class act and a good sport. Even Mark Hamill, who had nothing to do with the prequels had constructive criticism and practical things to say about the prequels

I'm still wondering which scene was he in where there wasn't an actual set.

I really had no idea one could sip Post-George LFL Kool Aid through that small mouth hole in C-3PO's costume...

I'm pretty sure his early scenes on the Lars Homestead in AOTC were done on a sound stage because 3PO originally didn't have any coverings. They added him in reshoots. He would've been on a blue stage looking at tennis balls. That's about all I can think of.

There was a sequence on Tatooine where Threepio didn't have coverings (when Anakin and Padme first arrive, hence the CGI Threepio) and there was supposed to be a scene where Padme gives Threepio his coverings.

I personally don't understand why anyone would actually give a shit about Daniels' or anyone elses comments about the prequels or perceived slights to George Lucas. Does your heart bleed that much for George that you are personally offended by what someone you don't know says about someone else you don't know? Believe me: Lucas isn't losing any sleep, and nobody but a nominal segment of Earth's population even knows who Tony Daniels is.

This thread is like nerd sheep meets US Weekly.

He was in Tunisia puppeteering 3PO (initially) and later he still acted with the full suit there.

This looks like the burial scene. He was indeed in the suit on set, but he's obviously composited into the Lars intro scene. It's my best guess as to what he's referring to when he says there were no sets for him to act on. He's a weenie.

Yeah, he's inventing the notion that he was never on a set. Maybe he's trying to argue on behalf of other actors who had to act in a big, blue room?
