Comparison of Luke's speech from ROTJ to the TFA trailer voiceover. It's the same.

I might be missing something here but why "my father has it" instead of "my father had it"?

I noticed on the Mark Hamill panel last night at Celebration, even he said "had it", then quickly corrected himself.

The line is lifted from Return of the Jedi, before Vader died.

What Topeka said.

My opinion is that the voiceover should not be taken literally; it's just symbolic of what we're going to see in Episode VII - the passing of the torch.

The first ROTS trailer showed Anakin on a swoop bike looking for Shmi in AOTC with the voiceover "...helped the Empire hunt down the Jedi knights..."

I think it's a great voiceover and it works for the trailer. I'm not reading into the "has" v "had" thing.

Yeah I see your point...another question...is this teaser the one that is going to be shown infront of Avengers 2 or could there possibly be a full trailer that's going to debut at the closing ceremony of Celebration tonight?

He said that re recorded the lines from ROTJ and that JJ mixed the new and the old together, the original lines are the original lines and the new are new, and if you listen closely the echo of the original lines is the newly recorded lines! (hope that makes sense!)
and as for has/had they are defintitely toying with us there, technically he is still around but just as a force ghost, unless.........

and after seeing Peter Mayhew struggle to walk I'm not sure how he was able to convincingly portray Chewbacca.

Guess that he had a body double for the full body scenes and was only in character for the close up shots.

U remember the guy with the black eyes in the "Force for Change" Thank You Video. He was obviously a tall guy. Rumors are he is Chewie in the Full body Shots.

Which I find somewhat strange. Why did they cast the elderly, barely walking, obviously pained Peter Mayhew as Chewie, when, as it seems, another guy actually does his job? I remember an interview (with Lucas?) about ANH, when Mayhew got ill or injured during filming and they hired a double - only to scrap all his shots because "no-one can move the way Peter moves as Chewie". Don't get me wrong - I love Mayhew's performances as the Wookiee but this time it looks more like nostalgia than a logical casting decision.

That reminded me just how amazing the Prometheus trailer was. A guess a reminder for how that can go.

Indeed. The same as posting Kenny Baker as Castmember playing R2. At Jedi-Con 2014 in Germany he said he has not been to the set of Ep VII at all. Nice gesture too.

Truly, it was amazing to see that teaser with the rest of the people who made it into the Celebration Stage, which was worth lining up for... I can't tell you how awesome it was!

I was, and still am, surprised at how many people didn't recognise that dialogue and were taking it as what they expect to see in The Force Awakens.

I'm not normally one for 3D in movies, but I saw the second teaser in IMAX 3D attached to Age of Ultron and was pretty impressed with how well it utilized the added depth. Nothing different as far as the content of the teaser in the IMAX version, just the added 3D effect, if anyone was curious.

Also interesting to note the theater broke out in applause at the end of the trailer, even after it's been out in the wild for weeks now.

I'm really annoyed that it didn't play in front of my IMAX 3D screening of AOU.

I don't know why Canadian theatres find the need to fuck with trailers in front of films, but they do. It was quite annoying because of how much I was looking forward to seeing TFA trailer in IMAX 3D.

I finally saw the trailer play in front of Tomorrowland.

The bass was way too high. You could hardly hear anything. The brightness was also pretty low.

The teaser poster is up in theatres. I would have liked to see a little more thought put into it - just lazy.

I desperately hope the final one-sheet does not resemble the embarrassing kind of shit we've seen from the Marvel movies.

There's a teaser poster out already? News to me. There's usually more fanfare regarding the release of teaser posters.

What does it look like?

On a related note, I wonder if they'll get Struzan to do the final release poster. If he's not retired, that is (I believe that's the case).

I like that poster. It's almost refreshing to see something so surely understated, but similar to the original film:

I saw the teaser poster up in the theater for Avengers: AOU, but it had already been removed (or maybe just moved to a different display) when I went to see Mad Max. There was also this smaller poster at Celebration:

I'm not too miffed by their old-school approach and I don't think it's reflective of the quality of the actual film from what we've seen but I do miss the tantalizing poetry of the prequel teaser posters.
