Totally forgot this was even happening until last night. I manage to score a ticket to the late night screening.

Special guests and photo ops will be had at each of the four screenings on the day. Doubt any news regarding Episode VII will drop but should be a fun day no less.

I think Victory Celebration is a more fitting and better piece of music than Yub Nub. It might actually be the only good change from the originals to the special editions.

I disagree. Victory Celebration is some of Williams' worst work ever. I understand lot of people don't like the original Ewok Celebration, but Victory Celebration is just... :what:

I don't get the hate. I think it has an epic feel and it seems far more fitting for the moment, especially when Luke looks to the Force Ghosts.

It's had a bad rap since 1997 but I think people would have far less of a problem with it if it was the original music, and not another aspect of a much-hated alteration.

I prefer Victory over Yub Yub. It just really felt like it needed to be less primitive with the grand finale ending music. Yub Yub wasn't horrible it just didn't serve the moment correctly. IMHO of course.

I suppose we'll never know. I, of course, "grew up" with the original version of Jedi on VHS, although I was still pretty young when the Special Editions came out. I just never liked that change from the get-go. There are only two cues John Williams has composed for Star Wars that offend me: Victory Celebration and Padme's Ruminations, neither of which sound like they belong in a Star Wars score. In the case of Ruminations, that was clearly temp-tracked with some Hans Zimmer shit. In the case of Victory Celebration, it was a weird piece of music replacing another weird piece of music. However, the last minute or so of Ewok Celebration, when the strings and brass come in, is amazing. It actually sounds like John Williams. I don't get that feeling from Victory Celebration. If anything, they should have replaced it with a new purely orchestral version of the original celebration music.

"Yub Yub" really pissed me off back in 1983. Of course, I was a smartass 18 year old then, but that song completely through me out of the movie and felt so out of place. I couldn't believe that the supposed ending to Star Wars was a bunch of furry faggoty fucking teddy bears singing this gay ass song.

The Victory Celebration piece, while a little "New Agey," at least gives us a sense of closure, as opposed to "WTF did I just hear?" :?
