I think people are missing the point here.......we buy it from Kuwait for $1.50, then sell it to Iraq for 5c. Its a bum deal
Anyways, screw hydro cars and solar cars. The real way forward is the air car. Finally we have a mass produced car that runs on compressed air.
Sure, it only does 60mph, and the tank needs refilling after 150 miles or so. But for daily short commutes its perfect. You can fill it up using the air-pump at a gas station, or in the comfort of your own home.
Obviously you use electricity to compress the air into the tank, but the fuel costs are far less. Ultimately the plan would be to use solar power during the day to charge a battery that refils your car when you get home at night.
Oh, and it uses vegetable oil for lubrication. It currently comes in variations of a 6 person 'people carrier', a taxi, a van and a pick-up truck.
Its the way forward, and I think Mexico City have ordered 40,000 cars to help reduce inner city polution.
