Very sad. Glad to hear he's doing OK.

That said he made an awful Palpatine and I hope they find a replacement for Rebels, assuming he's in it, which of course he will be.

They should call Nick Jameson, who played Sidious in the PS2 game SW: Bounty Hunter. Did a pretty good job.

From when Curry was first announced, we heard a lot from Filoni and some of the voice cast was how great Curry's Sidious voice was, which we never got to hear. By the time of Rebels, the Emperor is in Sidious mode full time, so I'm willing to give him a chance even if I wasn't a fan of his Supreme Chancellor voice like most of you. Sam Witwer also does a great OT-era Emperor in the Force Unleashed.

From Filoni's Facebook page:

Everyone,
It seems you all know that yesterday was my Birthday. James Arnold Taylor sent me a video of the audience at Star Wars Weekends wishing me Happy Birthday, I really appreciate that, and all the messages I received throughout the day. Usually one receives presents on their birthday, but today I would like to give one to you Star Wars Fans, for the kindness and support you have always shown me throughout my eight years at Lucasfilm. When I would discuss the new episodes of Clone Wars with George and the writers, I would draw the entire time. Here is an image that came out of one of these discussions. Have a great weekend everyone. Thanks!

It seems that Mark Hamill said in CEII that he has voiced a Sith Lord for an (yet unaired) TCW episode.

Tom Kane has confirmed that they have recorded a full season and that they indeed have finished (animation and all) at least two arcs with 4 episodes each. Plus the two episodes that got cut from the previous season, we can already count with half a season of finished material.

Filoni says we're finally getting the bonus episodes early next year:

Quote:
Star Wars fans - I have some exciting news! We have wrapped production on all of the remaining Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes, and while that might be sad news in one way, it's good news in another. It means you will finally get to see them. When, exactly, is a detail I cannot yet share. I can confirm that in early 2014 you will be watching the final episodes of The Clone Wars, including one of Master Yoda's most challenging missions. So, get ready. We've got Clone Wars and Rebels coming at you in 2014. Animated Star Wars is alive and well. Trust in the Force my friends.

Thanks for posting. It seems definite that Ahsoka's coming back. What he says about Rebels having a less geometrical style is curious. So far, I'm not seeing that to a large extent.

Yeah, they've mentioned several times now that the character art style is different, but if you told me that Inquisitor render was for TCW I wouldn't bat an eye. Wait and see, I guess.

As for Ahsoka, I think she'll turn up eventually but I don't think she's going to be a main character or show up any time soon. Dave seemed pretty insistent (and I think it's the right call) that they want Rebels to be its own thing.

If I had to bet on any TCW characters returning (on Rebels), I would put my money on Bane, Hondo and Ahsoka.

Also, nice to hear this:

Quote:
Well, it’s really interesting. It’s a very different thing. I am definitely now the one in the room with the George-like attitude on things, which I find really funny. It’s kind of like when you save stuff and you realize that later in life you’re parroting what your parents said. So people have ideas and I’m like, “Well actually we can’t do that. This is why,” and I’m like, “Aw, man. That’s something Lucas used to tell me when I would want to do something!” I’ve just been so trained.

Part II of starwars.com's interview with Filoni

Quote:
But part of the reason why, when it came down to it, that I wanted Sam to play Maul was because he had played the Son. And I wanted this concept, which is a very far-out concept, that there were echoes of everything that happened on Mortis happening throughout the show. And that Maul is an echo of the Son and some of the evil the Son was talking about which echoes in our galaxy. There were certain things that Sam and I did vocally that we wanted to be specifically like the Son. When we first find Maul, you can even hear Maul muttering some of the same dialogue that the Son actually says on Mortis. So there’s definitely a connection between those two characters, because they’re both connected to the dark side of the Force.

Quote:
George and I went over those final scenes quite a bit. One of the big things was, the whole scene with the Council at the end used to take place outside where Anakin and Ahsoka talk. And it was definitely George, when we watched the first cut of it, who said, “I want to split this so that it’s half-inside, half-outside. And the outside is just Anakin and Ahsoka.” It was very important to him to separate the two of them out and just have this conversation between them. He wanted kids to know that she didn’t blame Anakin for it and that she wasn’t upset with Anakin. And I thought it was a great call. When I re-shot the scene it was pretty phenomenal.

So, this is going around about The Clone Wars:
Rumor: Ten Episodes From TCW Season 6 Airing On Disney XD As 'The Lost Missions'?

The following comes to us from TFN forum member podjazd, who posted it on our discussion thread for The Clone Wars bonus material:

Hi, guys :).

Today in Warsaw, we had a meeting organised by Star Wars Artistic Team - they focus mainly on activities for kids, such as drawing, playing with SW toys, etc. But what's more important, they're working closely with Disney/Lucasfilm and today they showed exclusively to us a new trailer for bonus content (they called it "season six"). There was a guy from Disney Poland at the meeting too.

First of all, they revealed that this season will be entitled "The Lost Missions" and will consist of ten episodes :(. They'll air it on Disney XD (at least in Poland). Here are some highlights from the trailer, but watch out for spoilers - and sorry for my grammar again. Link to Polish version of the article below:

http://www.star-wars.pl/News/17527

We've excluded hidden spoiler text featuring the trailer highlights, but you can head over to podjazd's forum post if you want to read those spoilers.

The subtitle "The Lost Missions" is an interesting one, especially given the previews that we've already seen, including Yoda requesting Anakin's help to get him out of the Jedi Temple so he can complete a mission.

Clicking the link in podjazd's post takes you to a post on the Bastion Polskich Fanow Star Wars website featuring a report from a recent Polish fan group meeting. According to Google Translate, a Disney Poland representative attended the meeting and "revealed that the sixth season will wear the subtitle 'The Lost Missions' and will consist of 10 episodes that will be shown on the Disney XD in 2014." Hit the link for more information, but have your translator ready. However, it's worth noting that Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo expressed skepticism about the ten-episode figure.
I put the information about the spoiler trailer into Google Translate:

[spoil]
• Trailer began by showing a dark, damp fog covered the planet - it was accompanied by the voice of Qui -Gon , saying : " You must go to the Dagobah (?) . , Where you will find your answers. " I landed there Yoda .

• Many loose scenes related to a ripe old master : in one of them walked among red , dust -covered rocks ( Korriban ? ), The second was in a dark building and ran up to him being a bit reminiscent of the Balrog from "Lord of the Rings " - consisted of smoke and fire , in another fight on the platform of a hooded figure, equipped with a red lightsaber , another presented him how to jump the airborne platforms , leading to what looked like a huge tree , located on the background of the cloudy , yellow sky , and finally , could be seen as Yoda talking with a group of representatives of a new breed - were round, white and maroon faces and golden eyes .

• Oppo Rancisis was present at the meeting of the Jedi Council .

• Members of the steel circle over Yoda and bent over him.

• One of the scenes showed a lot of ghosts (or perhaps invisible ) Jedi , taking part in the battle .

• We would certainly return to Kamino - were aiwhy , cadets in helmets , learners in front of computers , Shaak Ti also returns . Clone of another forerunner - the one who killed one of the sisters of the Jedi - thrashing about on the bed, tied to the belt , and the voices in the background said that " does not remember the day it happened ." In the longer terms, medical droid came into fives , calling it " CT -5555 " , which did not like the man who pointed out to him that the clones have names and it is important for them .

• Sidious contacted holographically with Lama Su and other Kaminoaninem , saying : " The truth of order 66 can not come to light ."

• Mother Talzin fired its green rays , and later fought with someone with a sword with a blue blade ( perhaps it was Obi -Wan ) .

• Showing new machines Separatist - a bit like aqua droids of the sections of the inkwell, but painted with red paint .

• Count Dooku will fight with two species of blue swords - they were probably Skywalker and Kenobi .

• Padme stood before the congregation Muunów , and one of them shouted : " You're under arrest ! " It also shows some new shots of the chase Emba on the ice planet.

• Mace Windu fought with giant robots.

• Showing a computer hologram displaying the silhouette of a man with black hair in a Jedi robe - was very similar to Sifo - Dyas comic book "Eyes of the revolution ." [/spoil]

Clovis arc - 2 episodes (at least)

Order 66 arc - 4 episodes (assuming the Sifo-Dyas arc is the same)

Yoda arc - 4 episodes (?)

Since Pablo confirmed more than 10 I think we can safely confirm more than half a season of finished episodes (and we're also going to get unfinished ones).

If we get 12 CW episodes, does that mean only 10 Rebels epsidoes in 2014?

In other news: Could Cad Bane appear in his own Netflix series?

Part III of the starwars.com interview with Filoni

Quote:
The finished episodes were the ones that were already pretty far down the track in terms of production. They were very near completion.

When you look at level of importance to wrap things up for fans, I think that two story arcs that fans will get to see are really, really important for the overall Clone Wars story. So I’m very glad that fans will get to see them in their completed form.

It’s not like all of the bonus material that comes out was planned on really answering things for fans. It’s more, “This is where we were headed,” and the Yoda story arc [announced on Twitter] definitely gives a sense of closure. One of the story arcs, which is very short, is not essential to the overall story but it is a nice final showcase for one of the prequel characters.

The stories coming out definitely will cause a lot of debate and discussion among fans, which is what good Star Wars stories always do, and I look forward to talking about the stories with them when the time is right.

And when George and I get together, when I go have lunch with him, he and I still talk about [The Clone Wars]. We talk about things, and it’s just good to discuss because you never know with Star Wars. I never thought in my lifetime there would be a [Star Wars: Episode] VII, VIII, and IX, and here they come. So it’s just good to keep talking about these things and figure out as much about them as possible, because who knows. I could be a very old man and some kid that was raised on Clone Wars will want to continue the story, so I better know that story when they come for it.

I think he's referring to Dooku (source).
IGN: In the Zygerrian trilogy, Dooku says his goal is the extermination of the Jedi. And we know Palpatine has that goal, but Dooku's a little more interesting because he was a Jedi. Do you think we might get a little bit more into what happened there and how he's gone to such an extreme if he was once a member of this group?

Filoni: We'll deal with Dooku a little more directly in the future. Maul being in play affects things to a certain extent as you can imagine, because he's there as a fallen apprentice, and Palpatine now has a current apprentice. It kind of makes for an interesting scenario. I find that Dooku's a really interesting character because I really don't know how many people get that he was a Jedi. I think it's so easy just to make the leap that he's a villain automatically. And when you really think about it and that he was Qui-Gon's master, that's a big bit of information there that's really interesting. I think that there's a lot you can do with Dooku, and with Corey Burton playing him, why wouldn't you want to do it, to be honest?
Dark Horse is going to adapt what would have been the final story arc for TCW, starting this May!

Quote:
Since then, various personnel at Lucasfilm have talked about potential outlets the final episodes’ story could be told, either as televised episodes, online content, or possibly a DVD release. But now in an exclusive to Newsarama, Lucasfilm has told us the finale to Star Wars: The Clone Wars is being told as a comic launching this May. This doesn’t preclude the fully produced episodes from still airing somehow, but does let fans jump right to the ending and the unproduced final arc.

In this last year of Lucasfilm’s epic decades-long partnership with Dark Horse Comics, the Oregon-based publisher will be releasing a four-part limited series titled Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir that will adapt the screenplays for what would have been the series finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

Newsarama

EDIT: From what LFL people are saying on Twitter, this is not an adaptation of what would have been the series finale, but rather an adaptation of Darth Maul's planned arc for the rest of the series. See here and here.

It seems like Disney is throwing away something that could have eventually made a good side project for TV or DVD. Hopefully, Dark Horse sticks to the script (without any changes).

I don't think Disney has any interest in Darth Maul...or honestly, anything that's already established and not part of the core mythos.

Look at Phase II and Phase III of marvel....we're getting very different characters away from Marvel's core.

Besides, they probably made Dark Horse pay a sh!t ton of $$ for the scripts.

From Dave Filoni:

Quote:
Happy New Year!

You may have seen the recent Clone Wars / Dark Horse Comics news, and I thought I would chime in and clarify things a bit. I am very excited about our collaboration with Dark Horse and this opportunity to tell an unfinished story developed for the TV series.

Before we get into the details about the Maul comic, I’d like to make clear that this storyline does not represent The Clone Wars series finale. I’ve seen some confusion about that online and want to set the record straight. There are additional Clone Wars episodes on the way and one arc in particular marks the series finale in my mind. We’ll have fun discussing that in the not too distant future.

Allow me to reveal in more detail what the story “Darth Maul, Son of Dathomir” is, and where it came from. As I have mentioned in previous interviews, for us to create the rich and incredibly complex stories that we were telling during The Clone Wars, we would be working on around fifty episodes at one time. This is from rough outline form, all the way through final sound design and picture lock. There were several stories that had gone through a substantial amount of development when the series was ended. We realized that this meant certain character arcs would go unfinished, but the Story and Publishing teams at Lucasfilm approached me with a unique way to continue Maul’s story for everyone who had been faithful to the show. The idea was to tell the story in comic book form, and knowing the great work that Dark Horse had done over the years, I thought it was an excellent plan.

The story of Darth Maul had become an important one for the series and it was only fitting that we chose him for a comic adaptation. The comics will be based on four finished scripts that were written for Season 6 . These scripts came out of one of our story conferences with George Lucas. As they moved through the production pipeline, they became finalized scripts with a great deal of the actual design work completed. The designs you will see, the plot lines, and character development in these comic books are all coming directly from the TV production. I turned over all of the art to Dark Horse so they could create an accurate representation of what we were planning for the show.

I am thrilled with the result, and thankful that we could partner with Randy Stradley and his team on this project. As I have always said, the stories told during the Clone Wars era will live on, and we are eager to share Darth Maul’s storyline with you. Is it the final story for Darth Maul? You will have to read the comics to find out.

Not quite, only that he views the last arc of the bonus content as the series finale. The actual finale planned for the series was never in production.

Apparently, the bonus content episodes are going to start airing on TV in Germany starting next month:

Star Wars Union

Translation from descriptions of the first arc, which appears to be the Order 66 one:

For the examination to succeed, cadet Fives must enter the depth of Tup’s mind, where he finds a secret code manipulation in the cloning program of the Republic.

Fight or Flight
Clone cadet Tup is transported back to Coruscant, where his body is to be examined by the chancellor’s personal physician. Cadet Fives is also investigating the matter and discovers that a modified code has been hidden in the minds of all the clones…

Orders

All I see is good news: Order 66 and Sifo-Dyas are not the same arc; Order 66 has 4 episodes, Clovis has 3 episodes, Yoda has 4 episodes, new arc with Jar Jar/Mace with 2 episodes.

This makes a total of 13 episodes without counting the Sifo-Dyas arc. Not bad at all...

EDIT: Starting to realize that the Syfo-Dyas plot could be part of "The Lost One" episode that belongs to Yoda's arc. Oh well...

Not mentioned in the list, but known to exist, as the actors did the VO: a Boba Fett/Bounty Hunters arc.

I wonder if these are the fully completed episodes (as in, suitable for TV airing). Filoni did mention that we would see not fully finished episodes, so there will probably be more...

We know that Embo is in the Clovis arc, not sure about the rest though.

They are. IIRC, Yoda's arc was the last one being produced that we had heard of, and Tom Kane confirmed that it was being finished.

Daniel Logan has said he's done quite a bit of VO for TCW that we've never seen.

Count me all in for the Jar Jar/Mace team-up episodes. Falls into the too bizarre to ignore category.
