This article from IGN reports that the newly assembled Lucasfilm Story Group will basically ensure that all future Star Wars storylines in various media fit together in the interest of creating a "single, cohesive canon."

No word yet on previous content being reclassified under this new system.

Very interesting. Thoughts?

This is all old news, it was first revealed by Pablo at Celebration Europe. Not sure why its making the blog rounds today.

Those interested in more can listen to this October interview with Pablo and Leeland Chee on what the Story Group is:

Figured. It's IGN. Not the quickest source for news of this sort.

Anyway, I like the move. If the new films are any good, I may show interest in supplemental storytelling from the same creative center.

Hardly new...in any way. Lucasfilm had a department dedicated to this before, a fat lot of goo it did them.

This is from 2008:

I tried to find an earlier department, but I remember back when I was a hyperspace member, one of the videos show cased they had a whole group that george "consulted" with (yeah, right.).

In the middle of all this noise, I wonder if anyone at LFL is, you know, making a film?

Casting?
Set-building?
Shooting?

They built a complete, full-sized set of the Millennium Falcon.

Then, Abrams and Kasdan decided it didn't fit into the latest draft of the script.

Well, if they need somewhere to put it...I have some space they can use.
