Fisher will look fine. How she'll sound, however, is another question entirely.

I was listening to Rebel Force Radio's Celebration Europe special and was struck by how much she sounded like one of my aunts now. The fact that she couldn't remember anything that happened to her before that day (by the sound of it) didn't help much either.

She looked pretty good in the Jenny Craig ads. I think she's yo-yo'd back since then but nothing a little exercise and stage makeup won't fix. Let's face it, children of the 70's and 80's would still bang her no questions asked.

Disney: "We're ignoring the EU - we're talking to you, Zahn."

Disney: Immediately pens movie version of Dark Empire, the worst part of the EU.

It would totally undermine the events of "Jedi" (and possibly even the entire saga up to this point) plain and simple.

With all the rumors flying around, does anyone else feel like J.J. Abrams is basically Zack Snyder with horn-rimmed glasses? Both know how to get a movie made, how to shoot action and stir audiences emotions but they come off as sheep who bring no real insight to their work. Coming off the last Star Trek movie, I really wouldn't be surprised if they did bring Palpatine back in some fashion.

I actually give Abrams more credit than that.

I don't think Snyder knows how to stir an audience's emotions or pace a movie properly (outside of 300, which I'm thinking was a fluke).

As a non-Trek fan, I prefer his Star Trek movies to the originals. They're way more accessible, way more "Star Wars." I also think he was smart enough to create this alternate timeline - which in of itself is a very "Trek" idea - which gives him some creative liberties re-imagining classic characters/events.

I really don't think JJ Abrams (or Arndt) is going to bring back Palpatine with some cheap clone trick. These guys revere the OT and as you say, pulling a stunt like that would absolutely destroy the purpose of those movies.

I just think back to the conversation Palpatine had with Anakin at the Galaxies Opera box in ROTS.

"The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be…unnatural."

Fortunately it's not up to them. No matter what they do, they are still adapting Lucas' story.

I give Abrams more credit than Snyder as well.

When I heard this rumor, I immediately thought that he appears in a flashback scene. Since Palpatine’s protégé is rumored to be the main antagonist, it’s also possible that he appears in an old hologram communication that’s been kept on record.

Is everyone assuming that that the big three will appear in the film's present tense story and not in a flashback or prologue sequence?

Rumor- McGregor is coming back to play Ben Kenobi's ghost. Take this with as many grains of salt as you see fit.

Just saw Kick Ass 2: obviously not as good, or as fresh, as the first but entertaining nonetheless. The flick was shot in Toronto, so I got a hoot out of seeing my neighbourhood in some of the street scenes.

The point is this: Chloe Moretz should be in Episode VII. She would honestly kill it.

Can't say I've ever heard that one before. I always thought that Star Wars was originally supposed to be released earlier in '77, but the movie wasn't ready yet, so 20th Century Fox bumped it to May.

Recasting Chewie? :wookiee:

"Male, 7 ft to 7.3 ft tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Not too worked out or too ‘thick set’ especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus."

Shame that Peter won't be able to do it.

That absolutely blows.
I was certain Mayhew would be ready in time after his surgery.

Out of respect to Peter and to the fans, why not simply rewrite the Chewbacca role?
Have him incapacitated from an accident that happened prior to the events of Episode VII?

Lucas added the Wampa attacking Luke, after Hamill was in that car accident.
Why can't they do the same for Mayhew?

Peter Mayhew IS Chewbacca. The same way Anthony Daniels is See-Threepio and Ahmed Best is Jar Jar.
You recast those characters and they lose their identity.

Maybe it's another Wookiee. I doubt that if Chewie is to appear in Ep VII, it will have such a huge role that couldn't wait for Peter to recover...

They wouldn't even have to do that.
Just use Mayhew for close-ups and the new 7ft. actor for wide and action shots.

Kenny Baker only shot a few scenes in the PT, right? Wouldn't a few choice cameos suffice for Mayhew as well? They can also let him contribute a few Chewbacca vocal tracks like he did on The Clone Wars.

I recently re-watched the cinemas for The Old Republic. I think the costumes, camera work, and general look are spot-on precursors for Episode 7. (Darth Malgus jump slicing through the engine debris is still pretty hardcore, btw.)

Let's all be honest, here. Peter may not be able to carry the weight of the suit any more. Major knee surgery and all, his joints have to be shot.

Inspirational and I'm hoping for him. If you think about it, it could be a metaphor for the movie in general.

There's a rumour that Ford is on the fence now about Episode VII.

That said, I'm in "show me or I don't care mode" when it comes to these rumours.

im in the camp that harrison has signed but they wont announce it until after his "enders game" press tour has finished so it doesnt overshadow the questions he gets posed, not that every single journo he comes across wont ask him about ep7 anyway (you can understand why he comes across as a grump sometimes)

Totally agree. I mean, the guy does have a life and a career, and focuses on one thing at a time, as he should.

Each job he does, whether it's Star Wars or The Mosquito Coast is just that... A job. He's not going to fuck that up just because this is Star Wars.

I guess JJ has that much pull that the can sink a decent script then? I don't know what to make of it other than internal pissing contests and that doesn't bode well. or this news is in all or part incorrect.

We know that isn't true. We know that Lucas began writing the treatment a year before the sell-off.
Michael Arndt was brought in after that and began writing the script based on Lucas' extensive outline.

J. W. Rinzler better be there, taking all of this down for the Making of Episode VII book.

To be expected really, Kenny Baker is nearly 80 and most of his action as R2 is physical exertion.
