Near the bottom of the article, he mentions Disney is thought to be working on the 1977, 1980 and 1983 versions of the OT for a high-def release. His post is worded in a very non-factual, speculative way, but Bill has credible sources and has been very reliable with news on the video release front for many years. He wouldn't have posted the item if he didn't think it was warranted.

Also in that same link is blu-ray news for the 1960s Batman series, The X-Files and Twin Peaks, among others. Good stuff here.

Disney has a good reputation with managing their archival releases. Here's hoping they spare no expense on a new transfer.

Disney still hasn't got the distribution rights for any of the six movies. Would that be announced before any restoration work began?

^Good question. I don't see why the restoration work couldn't have already begun, even though how/when it would be released could still be up in the air.

Apparently these "news" are just speculation on the possibility of Disney releasing the OUT. No inside info or reliable sources.

It is still nice to know that even industry pros and insiders regard an OUT release as the ultimate no-brainer.
